Great episode. Everyone is going to comment on your shed and plantings, but I want to comment on how impressed I am with the way you run your channel. Yes, you've absolutely got amazing content, but I think I'm even more impressed by your level of engagement with your viewers. There are so many TH-camrs who don't take the time to acknowledge comments with a simple heart (which you always do), but you go a step further and try to leave replies to almost everyone. When you're getting hundreds of comments, that's a massive time commitment. Just wanted you to know I so appreciate the extra effort. It's really impressive and rare I think it's one of the reasons why your channel will continue to grow. Hope you have a great week. Cheers!
A day without Catherine is a day without sunshine, warmth and love. Thank you for showing us peace, love, how to have a productive life even in tough times, self love and FUN! God Bless.
I hope you feel better soon! I’ve been in bed since Christmas with my back and then shingles. I have my go too you tubers to help cheer me up. Isn’t she wonderful? Feel better! Hugs, treen 💕💕💕
Your channel, more than other channels, makes me feel like I’m sitting in the garden with you having a chat with the sun, breeze and chirping birds. Makes me smile. 🌷
You are an inspiration to us all, showing us what can be done if we put in a bit of effort, to appreciate our efforts and to reep its rewrds. You inspire us to leave our comfort zones and try new things and not to take it to heart if a project doesn’t turn out quite as it should. You encourage us to have a go and learn new skills. This is one of many reasons why I love your channel. xx
New yard, or what I call rock quarry. We bought a boat load of flower pots, now to carve out a bit of paradise. Most of the 2 acres is wild but cleared, only a small potion fenced in back yard, and at 68 that's good enough for this old lady. I want a pretty place to enjoy wildlife and garden. I'm planting my potatoes today. Tornadoes tonight so if you find potatoes in your yard they came from my house ha! 🌺❤🌺
You in the garden in short sleeves is making me so envious! I live in Southern Italy and it's still really cold here! You are way ahead of me with spring garden chores!! Love your energy.
Great shed organising. Bend the end of the brackets up with some plyers to stop the tools falling off, thats what I did. You may need your brothers help with that though. Your so inspirational xx
Catherine well done on fixing your garden shed to make it more efficient. Love the grow bags for your potatoes and hope you get a good crop. My dad was the best gardener. When we stationed in England he had the best veg garden and the new potatoes were so wonderful . Everything was delish. You got a lot of stuff done. Deserving of refreshments now. Have a beautiful week. Blonde stays so white and beautiful. 🍀🤗😘💐🌹🌷🌻🌼🌸🌺🥔🥔🐝🐝
Can’t wait to we all your flowers blooming..your garden i will look amazing …your little shed looks so organized…I love ….have a a beautiful week …🙏🪴🌷🪴🌱🪴🌸🪴🌿🪴🪴🌷🪴🌷🌱🪴🌿🌷🌿🌷🌱🪴🌱🪴🌷💗💗💗🙋🏻♀️🌻
Catherine, I wanted to mention....when I go thrifting at yard sales, charity shops and thrift stores...I look thruout all sizes, looking not only for dresses my size, but to look at clothing as "material" and check beautiful buttons, lacy collars, etc. A beautiful outdated dress or something too big...can be made into a smaller skirt, some pillows, a little tablecloth, or just bits and pieces saved for stuffed fabric hearts or sachets hung on a door knob by a dainty ribbon, etc. I have a large glass jar of beautiful buttons I "rescued" from thrifted or gifted clothes. I gently rip out stitched in lacy collars on too worn clothes, attached them to white poster border with a few stitches, then stack them in a pretty hatbox. If a dress, blouse or sweater needs "a little something extra" I go look at my "stash" of beautiful "rescued" collars!
I saw our first crocuses and snowdrops today when I was walking in Michigan and I was quite excited. Good job on keeping your shed tidy. Maintaining the cleanliness is always the hardest part.
When I owned a property in Ohio, I had 20 flower beds and enjoyed them all. Was retired so had plenty of time. I also had planted flowering pear trees and a river birch and had a small pond. Unfortunately, when someone else bought the property, which was a duplex, they wanted to rent it out so they removed the pond, the trees and all of the flower beds and shrubs. So sad. But now I live with my daughter in Ohio and she made me a raised flower bed so I could continue to garden. My back is pretty gone so bending is very hard on me. I am getting ready to supplement the old soil that is in the bed with some compost and Mr. Earth fertilizer for buds and blooms. Fingers crossed. lol I plant annuals in this bed and have used seeds and plants. I don't have a lot of patience and since our growing season is only about 150 days, I am using plants instead of seeds. I love your energy and hearing what you are doing in the garden and, of course, seeing Blondie! Such a sweety. Good luck on your gardening.
Catherine, thanks to you I've cleared out my shed, took everything out, swept it, put up hooks for the spade, fork etc, now looks much better, you are such an inspiration 🥰
Morning🌞another beautiful day. You've motivated me to do more in the garden and I'm off to find some potatoes today 😁 love your videos, I feel you're just talking to me as a friend would with humour and just being yourself. Brilliant thank you 😁👍
Hi Catherine, I have grown spuds twice once in a 5 gallon bucket and once in ground, both did well like 12 spuds in bucket and 12 in ground also. I like trying new planting experiments. I was so glad to see Gardeners World back on. Blonde getting her sun treatment in pot of soil, so adorable. Take care.
I live in central Iowa. We call the part of the potato that sprouts. The "eye". And we cut a section around each eye and plant that part. You might get 3 plants out of one potato. After we section off each eye part we leave them to dry or scab over for a few days. Then we plant them. Letting them dry or scab over helps them not to rot in the ground. Love planting potatoes ! Good job Katherine !
An idea for hanging tools on the shed wall is using the racks that hold bicycles or hoses. We use these and they hold quite a bit of tools and they are nice and sturdy. Good luck!
Hi Catherine, garden is looking really nice you have worked really hard, our shed has got to a point and we have ordered a new one so a big clear out be glad when it arrives, enjoy your chill time in the garden xx
Good morning from Ontario, 🇨🇦. Still lots of snow here. You give me hope! Love all your videos. Just a tip for your shed. Turn your spade and fork around so the sharp points are against the wall. Love your garden and the fact that you grew a cat in your herb garden! Keep up your excellent work 👏!
Looking good Charlotte, in my shed I put a shelf on the back wall to keep garden bottles etc up out of the way Sometimes I’ve put a rail across too and hung my prepped hanging baskets till may then hang outside What have I been upto… well hubbys taken poorly as we were mid way making a summer house, so it’s erected and painted, so I got stuck in and insulated, cladded in ship clad, as better quality, no dropping out of knots so won’t look like a colinder later on, I’ve tan out of batons for the last part of the roof so will finish tomorrow I even bought myself a table saw as my arms ached sawing each piece! Sooo enjoyed that bit, much easier, really chuffed I’ve made the effort, I’d love to now make a boxed corner seating to sit and store my stuff but don’t think I could make those? But watch this space 💖
On the end of your brackets...you could go to craft or thrift stores...find cute little wooden, iron or ceramic garden birds, bunnies, squirrels...and super glue them to ends of brackets to keep things from slipping off.
Hi Catherine, a great video and you have got me motivated ( which I needed ), I have power washed my decking and other bits ( also myself ), and tidied up a bit, and it’s all down to you, so thank you so much, I love your very energetic videos and of course your wonderful Irish accent, you make my day. xx
Woot woot! You uploaded! What a wonderful reward for all my hard work in the garden! I've mowed the lawn and done the edges, mulched the garden in front of my front fence, replanted about 40 jonquils and completely weeded the front garden bed. I'm gonna repot some plants later on and spray my garden furniture and the porch and back deck for spiders. It's autumn here, and a perfect day to be in the garden. We say in Australia to plant sweet peas on St Patrick's day, but like you, i was 2 days late doing that. Thank you so much for inspiring me!
Tell you what I find useful in a shed is (other places too really) one of those plastic hanging shoe storage thingies! Put it on the inside of your shed door and it's great for secateurs, trowels, labels twine etc. All those little bits you want/need in your shed but, you can never find. The clear ones are best for the shed. I use them also for putting on the back of cupboard doors for gloves hats scarves etc. You have a different stance this time compared to your "spider stance" in the first spring clean. 😉
we had the most gorgeous Saturday here in Philadelphia zone 7, i got a huge amount of tidying up done and put down a new no dig garden border. I am in the process of putting in a shed and just ordered a greenhouse but have been renovating my garden for the last 3 years.
You have me so motivated!!!!❤️ I have cleaned my oven and all the cabinet fronts! I created a massive flower bed in the front of my house and got it planted! I would never have done this without your motivation in your videos! Thank you!
Hello, Dainty thank you for sharing another video. One more week and I can start the yard. Pittsburgh PA USA we have odd weather cold then very warm. I want to get outside and rake the old leaves dig circles around my hydrangea and give them some plant food. I think the heuchera made it through the winter. I will need to mulch as well. The front of my yard needs trimming up as well. So much to do. I loved hearing the sound of that sweet bird. Oh, here it is the first day of spring.
It is autumn here. I laid a patio (with gaps between pavers for planting creeping thyme); picked up divided alstroemeria from the garden swap; cleared out all the summer annuals that have gone over; planted out the spider plant babies so they can get roots over the next few months; and swept up and put the leaves into container to add to compost (as 'brown'). There's where I am at the moment.
Another way to put a stopper on those brackets is by using a bolt. You buy two nuts per bolt, and use the nuts to pinch the bracket, and that way you can adjust the bolt as needed to keep your stuff from sliding off without being too tall or short.
Why am I watching a garden video when I don’t garden? I’m watching a positive smiling Irish woman… whose turn of phrase never ceases to put a smile on my face lol Nah… actually I’m just here for Blonde
Wish my life and home was as pink as yours is. Must be a calming colour, think I will try it. My shed beckons so I will crack on with the tidy out too. If you get chance it would be good to see a video on actually using your drill and wall plugs etc. What size to use that sort of thing. For us girls who haven't a clue what to do. Hope you have a lovely week.
That's the cutest shed I ever seen Catherine. Tidy-ish? Lol; would you be making over that shed floor to match the green house anytime soon? Happy sunny day Catherine. 🌼🪴🌞
Enjoyed the video so much. You work so very hard to keep things looking nice and tidy. 😊👍💛 Maybe people don't do this anymore but my dad would cut the potatoes in pieces leaving a nice "chit/sprout on each chunk.
I had a shed at my last house and loved when I organised it. I even had a door mat inside the door much to the amusement to my son. I don't have a shed anymore, but luckily have a garage which is in desparate need of organising! Lovely to see you lovely cat out with you. I did some gardening last week and missed my furbaby being out with me. Good luck with the potatoes!
Hi there! 🤠 I'm working in my shed too. Getting my pumpkin patch ready. I also had a cheeky tin in the afternoon sun 😎 xx Outer Banks, North Carolina zone 8a
Can't remember if I mentioned in the last video what my zone was. I am here in NW Indiana right below Lake Michigan in the US and we are 5b. They say we can start planting after Mother's Day which is in May. I have seen barrels and bags for planting potatoes and would be interesting to try. I can't wait to see how it goes for you. Enjoy you beautiful days, we have a week of rain this week.
Dear Catherine, It's a beautiful first day of Spring here in SoCal, after a rainy night. I live in an apartment, but have a first floor enclosed patio to garden on, and my geraniums and pansies are blooming like mad. I'm hoping to add a lot more color as time progresses. I love getting my hands in the dirt, and therefore, I'm envious of your lovely garden. :) Blondie is such a good helper! hehe. They love soaking up the sun for sure! :) Be well and take care....your videos make my day!
You are such a delight to watch! Your garden is stunning and I guess we can thank Blondie for supervising! lol! In Iowa they say not to plant potatoes until Good Friday. It is very warm today but we are suppose to cool down for the next few days, so I haven't been able to do any gardening other than rake. My daffodils are starting to pop up! Have a lovely week Catherine and Blondie!
We had two warm days here in my area of Pennsylvania. I trimmed hedges, raked leaves, and got a nice area ready for planting. Then I trimmed some tree branches. It felt so good to be outside! That was Friday. Saturday and Sunday it got cold again and rained. I can't wait for warm weather. Next I'm going to power wash my deck!
Well I'm very happy to say I've ordered my copy of your book so it will be hurtling across the sea to Australia and am I happy?? Hell yes 😁😁🥰🥰🥰 can't wait till it arrives 📚📚📚🐨🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Wow your beds are coming along quite nicely. We wont see many flowers until about mid April here in Ontario Canada. You should screw the smaller L brackets on to the ends of the larger ones to prevent sliding.
I’ve been dong a lot of cleanup. Last fall we had a heavy rain which caused flooding. So I didn’t get my fall clean up done. I now hav all sorts of weeds 😳🤦♀️🧐. But it’s all dirt therapy. I have raised garden beds that I have been adding goodies to enrich the soil.
I found this video very interesting. In America when we plant potatoes we let them sprout is you did. However after they sprout we would cut the potatoes into sections containing one sprout or chit As you call them and then let them sit for a day for the cut edges to dry and then we would plant them in shallow beds and he’ll the soil up around the foliage as they grew to encourage more root growth which interns increases the amount of potatoes we would be able to harvest.
Stumbled upon your channel as I was looking for backyard inspiration for my small courtyard/patio area. Your greenhouse drew me in....❤ dreamy. After just watching 1 video I had to subscribe. I absolutely love watching. Can't wait to explore more videos of yours. I live in the the US... Texas to be exact. I love your apron you wear and that you garden alot in dresses very nostalgic like absolutely love that.
Hey! I just planted more potatoes not thirty minutes ago!😃 I’m on break. I just planted rhubarb, too. And I pulled a ton of weeds. Heading out to plant peonies and lilies!😘💗 You rub off on me!

Aww, thank you 🥰 I really appreciate that. I try and sit with a cup of tea and reply as much as I can, I love the chats.
Oh I SO agree! She has helped me with something I have been looking for, for years! I simply LOVE her channel!
Agree, agree, agree 👍 👏 👌 💯 🙌 😀

A tear came to my eye watching today. Remembering Pepsi in garden sun. Missing that lovely little face. Garden,tea,cats….priceless. ❤️

I'm working in my shed too. Getting my pumpkin patch ready. I also had a cheeky tin in the afternoon sun 😎 xx Outer Banks, North Carolina zone 8a
I really admire you young lady
It was like a summers today in North Lanarkshire today, I hope it continues.
I used to cut seed potato for a local farmer and we always cut with the eye in the center of each section
Enjoy your cheeky cider ❣
Can't remember if I mentioned in the last video what my zone was. I am here in NW Indiana right below Lake Michigan in the US and we are 5b. They say we can start planting after Mother's Day which is in May. I have seen barrels and bags for planting potatoes and would be interesting to try. I can't wait to see how it goes for you. Enjoy you beautiful days, we have a week of rain this week.
Good episode, getting ready to plant my spuds!
Your chits look good and strong. They'll get off to a flying start.
Fingers crossed Lorraine, il have potatoes coming out me arse 🤣
I really enjoy your commitment, and creativity :) I hope you all succes and happiness you can harvest: and potatoes!
Thank you Catherine now all you have to do is wait..lol..but i'm sure you will enjoy them they taste so much better than the shop ones..xx
Blondie is such a good helper! hehe. They love soaking up the sun for sure! :) Be well and take care....your videos make my day!
So motivated after watching your video. I'm definitely going to have a go at potatoes too 😁
You are such a delight to watch!
You too Susan, have a great week ahead 🥰
Aw yay!!! Thank you for ordering 🥰🥰🥰
@@DaintyDiaries and I'll be waiting for your next one too 😁😁😁
Wow your beds are coming along quite nicely. We wont see many flowers until about mid April here in Ontario Canada. You should screw the smaller L brackets on to the ends of the larger ones to prevent sliding.
First all the way from North Carolina🌹🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼💐🥀
🥰
Great Job! I have a damn squirrel nesting in my shed-you cannot imagine the mess it's made.
Aw nooooo 🐿
Aww thanks for your kindness Mary and for subbing 🥰
🥰 Catherine you make my week 😂
🥰😂
Your Pepsi is too cute laying in the planter. The weather looks great there. We are just getting a hint of spring in NYC.
It's Blondie not Pepsi, sadly Pepsi died a while ago.
California here, zone 9. Starting seeds indoors, kale is popping up. First day of spring and I have leaves on my witch hazel and spice bush.
Hey! I just planted more potatoes not thirty minutes ago!😃 I’m on break. I just planted rhubarb, too. And I pulled a ton of weeds. Heading out to plant peonies and lilies!😘💗 You rub off on me!
Aw Welldone on your planting 🌱🥔
It seems like Blondie loves to veg out and watch Mum work. Wishing you luck on your spuds 🥔
