What stuns me is that Katrina Lenk keeps her accent throughout the whole song! It’s extremely hard to do that! Even during her belts, high notes, and riffs, the accent is always present!
The Tony Awards brought me here. As soon as the performance ended I came straight to TH-cam. I wish I had the money and time to see The Band’s Visit ☹️ This song is beautiful and captivating, and I’m sure the entire musical is too!
Just from this song alone, people finally understand the true weight of this show. They finally understand the pain and rejoice and personality of the band’s visit. Deserved every award.
I saw the touring company of TBV last night and was incredibly moved, so poignant and heartfelt. Sometimes it was difficult to catch all the lyrics so a big THANK YOU to hLyrics for posting Omar Sharif and Welcome to Nowhere! I hope you consider posting more from this show!
Omar continues to hold the imagination of song writers 58 years after he burst on the siver screen as the gorgeous mysterious dark and handsome apparition out of the desert in Lawrence of Arabia.Charismatic and spohisticated and debonair till the end.And Um Kulthum ,wow what a voice and presence this singer had ! Wonderful to find both of them resurrected through this song ! So beautifully rendered by Katrina Lenk !
To be honest, at the end of the Tonys I was just like "how is that possible" so I decided to find out... Turns out I understand how this musical won so much Tonys, and how this great woman won the Tony for Leading Actress
I love this song because it gives a vibe of ratatouille and that was my childhood. And it made a secret I kept since I was 6. It's just the memories that "float on the jasmine wind." Lmao. Ignore what I said.
I loved mean girls, but I can see why this musical won so many tony's with just this song.

Ok... now i get it. I never understood why people loved this show so much... now I get it. Wow
I love this song so much, and love watching the performance on the Tony Awards show!

Dashed here from the Tony’s too. Gorgeous song.
Just saying - a few days ago I watched the entire show (in 5 parts) here on TH-cam. SO good.
Mc Kenna I saw that but the 2nd part was stuck... I decided not to ruin the musical because of technical stuff

This is officially my favourite song just now. Beautiful and in my vocal range.
This musical is stunning. When the curtain fell, I was absolutely bawling. Such a touching, human story with the best acting in a Musical on Broadway.

It's been three damn days since the Tonys and this song refuses to leave my head. Help?
What a beautiful, haunting melody... I can't get this song out of my head. I loved Katrina Lenk's performance on the TONYS!

AHH YES I LOVE THE BANDS VISIT PLEASE DO MORE FROM IT
This is the song that makes me want the jasmine wind. I want to feel it all like she did.
Wow, that was great.
From my point of view one of the greatest songs performed on Broadway.
The Egyptian singer's name is spelled Oum Kalthoum. Thanks for the lyrics.

Anyone else notices that Lenk pronounces the "r" sound very differently in this recording?
I understand everything now 😂
SUBBED. I hope you make it. You are closer than me.
TheSugarRay thank you so much :)
TheSugarRay I’ve subbed back, keep working at it!

I wouldn’t buy it. Some years ahead they’ll come up with something else.
Me and my school recently went to broadway to have a behind the scenes look and we heard this song
