    A fantastic way to fill Vegega metal garden beds. I noticed you haven't put the safety rubber around the bed. I would suggest you do that. Putting on the top will protect you from potential scratches.

    Congrats to the winner, we're big fans of her :)
    We've loved our sticks and soil beds. The only negative is it created a perfect habitat for burrowing four legged friends.
    Looks like slime mold, brassicas are going to love it !!
    Hope work settles down soon, life's too short Terry !!

    Nice structure for a raised bed. I built my own from used scaffolding planks; I put black garden plastic in as a liner; I made it a metre high because I didn’t want to bend, I wanted to garden at ‘bench’ height; I too started off the bottom foundation with rotten logs a la hugelkulture (sp?), lots of compost and leaf material, green waste, tea bags and coffee. Scaffolding planks are free from some companies, others might charge £1 a plank. I think I spent maybe £14 including corner timber. I put a layer of chicken wire (small gauge) on the very bottom, hopefully it’ll be an effective rodent barrier.

    • @terrykingsallotmentgardening
      @terrykingsallotmentgardening  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I built my scaffold plank beds 2 high and have gone 3 high on one bed, didn't put any wire on the bottom of mine. Thank you for taking the time to comment I do really appreciate it.

    When filling my raised beds, which aren’t as deep as yours, I dig out the top soil below the bed. The bed is then filled with wood, i.e. pruning wood off cuts, loads, etc. then level up with wood chip. The beds are then partially filled with fresh green/brown waste. Next I sieve the topsoil removed from the base and mix with compost until level. Work very well.

    Good show Tel, that foamy stuff is a slime mold, always known it as dogs vomit mold, not harmful to plants or humans, it'll go crusty eventually then turn to powder/spores, or you can wash it off with a hose before it sets. usually see it on bacterial dominant mulches when it's warm n wet, never seen one as big as that tho!

    • @terrykingsallotmentgardening

    I thank you very much for showing the Vegega i was so impressed i went and bought myself one and it was delivered yesterday, it's 42 inch round and I'm going to put it around my avocado tree that's in a tote on the driveway and remove the tote and just fill in around it because the avocado tree did bloom this year no avocados but it bloomed so it deserves a decent container and on the fan covers I use them to protect my seeds because my birds have a tendency to eat them I have made a hanging shelf out of it with three wires so I can hang the catnip away from the cats in the container and I also use it for sifting what about putting your snail killer down and putting one of those over it especially if you have a really bad infested bed. That foamy stuff is a fungus like a mushroom my neighbor had in their front yard after they had a new yard put in it's caused by decomposing organic matter.
