You can drop down to a 1.6 diameter electrode. They run circa 40 amps. I've ear marked this Vid as something you can run in the field, or off a battery pack. General purpose 6013 rod. More than enough to stick a gate hinge on. Probably worth a practice weld
i know a panel beater who owns lots of welders. his favourite is handbag sized. he hangs it over his shoulder with his left hand on the dial, strikes the arc with his right hand then turns the dial right down to continue the weld. he uses it for flawless welds on car panels as well as anything else.
Yeah I learned that box opening lesson working in a super market opening chip boxes. If you stick the knife in too far you can bust the thin foil pretty easily.

Watching steel fixers with these clipped to their belt about a decade ago was impressive. Had a friend bring about half a ton of hardwood strapped to the roof of his enclosed trailer he picked up for $350.. It was held together by rust and a little steel. Six months of Sundays later he's about to drive out with a brand new trailer. Hate to say it, but the hot dipped trailers from China assembled here are a bargain.
Really really wanted to see the tig in action, just dropped a $50 deposit on one yesterday, so how about another vid incuding the tig, cant believe steve didnt test it out

ok, so here is my thoughts. a 10amp outlet in your home can run about 2400watts. the eco flow 1600 can produce about 2000 watts which is roughly 80% of that. 80 amps is about 80% of the welders max. (none of this is totally accurate and doesnt include inefficiency losses) so i can see why it dropped out at around 80 amps. its right on the edge of 2000 watts and asking a little too much as a constant load. it handles the surge for a short period as expected, maybe the ecoflow max 2000 would run this at 100amps with less issues
The correct way would be to calculate the amperege knowing the voltage at set amperes on the particular welding machine. E.g. lets say 22V at 100A this welding machine has. Then 22×100=2200Wt of welding arc power it produces, then knowing the efficiancy coefficient K lets say K=0.6 you will need to calculate the power this unit will draw from the power supply P = 2200/0.7 and divide the answer 3142Wt by 240V(you need to use the actual voltage at the battery outlet). This will be the value of the current in amperes this unit is drawing at the settings of 100A from the power supply. If the battery can supply this current then all good. If not it will cut off obviously. The rule of thumb is great but it needs to be calculated first, really before you run the test to ensure that you understand the limits for particular model of the welding machine in this case 135ST
