I just acquired the Lian Li 216, and I'm really enjoying it. Even though my motherboard is microATX and lacks front PWM support and color options, I must say it's stunning in appearance.
For the vertical card, I’d recommend a ratchet and speed bit, 1/4” drive will do it no problem. While annoying it’s a solution and most people have even a basic socket set
An interesting case design and given the sreas you pointed out certainly needs csteful planning to build in. I assume most ppl will build and leave alone unlike yourself where you need to change components for review purposes and then one can appreciate your concerns. Again great review Mike and Kath 🐈👍
1 thing I know as fact, because I've tested it, is that yes, vertical mounted GPUs may look nice but they do heat up more because air flow gets messed up in that configuration, not worth it for me.
Great review Mike and Lady Kath. Nice case to use as my daily driver. As I've mentioned before... I really like the white cases to build in. Much easier on these old eyes. I just grew tired of the same old black cases. You should do a pink build for Lady Kath? Take care. Cheers
@@mikesunboxing It doesn't have to be that case. There are a lot of other pink cases on other retail sites. Or you could get a white one and have it powder coated? Cheers
Thats a pretty case, very easy on the eye (even in white) and the big ass fans in the front look just right even if they are RGB. Plenty of heat generating components in there and judging by your video it can handle these with little problem. Wonder how long it'll be before some other manufacturer "borrows" the design ;-) Thanks Mike and Kath.
I think Coolermaster borrowed this idea about 3 years ago :) This is Lian Li refining what they did with those custom case fan shrouds. The reviews for this case are almost universally complimentary regarding its cooling - it does seem to be the best in its class.
I'm curious as to why Lian Li when with 160mm fans with this case. I hope they don't break, because they'll be somewhat hare do replace. I couldn't find them on the US Amazon.
I have this very case ,the front fans have good air flow and can go down to 550rpm, i just wish you could turn then off like some fans ive had before. Mine has not got the paint problem.
ohh i found many imperfections with the lian li case my psu shroud also has a uneven paint job. and rear I/O bracket is causing my mobo to not be aligned but when i reversed the bracket to air cooling mode it fits weird. also odd that it doesnt fit there own SL-INF 140 fan. but yeah almost perfect case with great airflow cant complain.
My side panel doesn't have the paint defect. I wonder if the intention is to install the video card to the rear panel before you re-attach the rear panel. At a glance, it appears that might work, but I might be overlooking something.
it is something TH-cam are supposed to be adding by the magical power of AI, but i get your point. We would have started doing it, but it should be integrated soon
I definitely had to add in some low noise adapters on the front fans. It seems like no matter what I set in the bios the fans were always running much faster than what I set.
I have had a lot of trouble using asrocks rgb program getting the ring around the fan to be addressable. Any 3rd part options that might be able to do that?
seems that it must be something in their own controller that does it, i don't understand it at all as it is just a single 5v 3 pin argb on each so in effect single channel
@@mikesunboxing Right I'm totally inexperienced with making RGB work. But I had the thought something like that about it being more than one channel. I have that same case (lian li 216 black rgb) and i'm building a pc with a 7800x3d and rtx 4080. Do you recommend the Corsair Shift, TT GF3, Asus Strix Gold Aura Edition or there is another psu that you can reccommend (all psu's in 1000W or 1200W). Sorry for my english, i'm from Brasil. Keep up with the good work!! ps: here in Brasil we only have the TT GF3 available, but i can import another psu brand from Europe or USA, because i have family in these regions.
This s t p_d case doesn't have power status led and HDD activity led. What a shame! But front panel connector wire has holes for led. Did they forget to add led lights? or did they not provide on purpose to make us angry? Even after paying $100 we don't get what we need. Power and HDD led lights are one of the most important things in a PC case. What's wrong with these manufacturers? Why mankind is evolving backwards? Humans have lost their minds by removing status indicator lights from PC case and removing 3.5mm headphone jack from phones. Governments should ban PC cases without power and hdd status indicators.
I'm thankful at least it doesn't have the eye piercing blue power status indicator light of my old Fractal case. Never understood why so many case manufacturers switched from the pleasant green of old.
i have the mb530p and im looking to upgrade it to this one what do u say cause my case has a very bad airflow even with changing the fans i have 3080ti and 5800x3d its kinda hot with both hitting 80c
it does seem cooler as the card can breathe now on both sides of the heatsink rather than being right up against the motherboard, the M.2 runs cooler too
the 216 and ceres 500 are the two i mainly use. they both have pros and cons. the vertical GPU mount in the 216 really yanks my chain, but otherwise a decent case

Do you recommend the Corsair Shift, TT GF3, Asus Strix Gold Aura Edition or there is another psu that you can reccommend (all psu's in 1000W or 1200W). Sorry for my english, i'm from Brasil. Keep up with the good work!!
ps: here in Brasil we only have the TT GF3 available, but i can import another psu brand from Europe or USA, because i have family in these regions.
gf3 is basically silent i don't know that the fan is even spinning over the other fans and things
Never understood why so many case manufacturers switched from the pleasant green of old.
i have the mb530p and im looking to upgrade it to this one what do u say cause my case has a very bad airflow even with changing the fans i have 3080ti and 5800x3d its kinda hot with both hitting 80c
this will be a great improvement
@Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to thanks man
Hello. Can i activate only rings argb lightning and off centre argb lightning?
only with the extra controller it seems
did you find that you have lower temps virtical as i have not a lot about 5deg
it does seem cooler as the card can breathe now on both sides of the heatsink rather than being right up against the motherboard, the M.2 runs cooler too
Would it be worth upgrading from the 215?
maybe, not totally ground breaking, but a few nice features, although the 215 is a decent case
con: the rear 140 case fan cannot be replaced by Lian Li Uni Fan SL140 V2 RGB. These are too large.
shame. i am using the stock 140 or the rear
Can u guys help me? I dont know if i should get this lancool 216 or the nzxt H5 Flow ? Help pls
i would probably go with the 216 personally
Which is your favorite case so far?
the 216 and ceres 500 are the two i mainly use. they both have pros and cons. the vertical GPU mount in the 216 really yanks my chain, but otherwise a decent case
@@mikesunboxing Thanks. Have you checked out the Lancool 2 Mesh?
"not sure how to change the RGB, doesn't look like its something you can do" - - "there's an additional side panel that gives you more RGB control" lol, yeah you need to buy the optional RGB controller.
or use the one on your motherboard
You don't. ARGB_1 header on your Mobo. Got my fans to do what I wanted even with ASRock's poor software. You're welcome
:) i take it :P
it is a pretty nice case, i miss it actually
bro i need temps
sure no problem, what are you putting in it?
