Actually it’s much simpler than it appears to be, as long as you understand theory…cuz all he’s doing when he’s “sliding” all up the neck is actually just creating accents of the chord he starts with, using pretty much the same notes, sometimes maybe starting with a triad of some kind, like a simple major or minor chord and expanding it to a Maj7 chord or a sus2/add9 chord or min6 chord…those are a few of his go to chords I’ve found. Once you realize that, it makes figuring out his riffs much easier. Then of course there’s the huge difference between saying and doing, like being able to play one of these “chords” spread out over like 10 frets, without fucking it up lol. Honestly, that ends up being the real hard part.
God I wish I could get that tone on my hx stomp. I have the Mark Holcomb 7 string and the pickups sound amazing but with the hx is so hard to get a similar tone.
One of these things is not like the other. Shagrath has failed to do anything noteworthy since Spiritual Black. Ever since then, he has become about as monotone as one can get, which is fine if what the vocalist is producing is strong (Maniac). But there’s no effort in what Shagrath does anymore. Dimmu has suffered for a very, very long time now.
