Shōgun 1x4 | The Eightfold Fence | REACTION (First Time Watching)

Hey guys! It's Danny & Niamh back again. This is our reaction to Shōgun episode four, 'The Eightfold Fence'.

This series continues to pull us in, we're loving Anjin & Mariko so much, the visuals are stunnig and the brewing conflict is so interesting - so we can't wait to see how the rest of the series plays out.

Nagakado used chain shots in the cannons. Blackthorne mentioned it earlier when he was training the gunners. It consisted of two cannonballs joined by a chain about a meter long. Originally, it was used to destroy the riggings of ships. Cannonballs chained together spin in the air making terrible damage. You can hear the chains rattling in the air before they hit Jozen and his men.

I love this series and I really enjoy your Shōgun reaction videos. You are both so excited about the series and I appreciate how you go through the events of the episodes afterwards so that you're on the same page and understand everything. You even did some background work and learned the characters' names at an early stage, etc. Well done. - I'm looking forward to the next episode.

One of the strangest aspects of this show is that John is both a pirate and an entitled d-bag yet we're expected to root for him as our hero. He's the lead character of the series (more noticeable in the book) and one of the least likeable in many ways. Slippery snake or not, I still love me some Yabu.

Yabu is such a douche but I still love him. He makes me laugh. But my favourite of all is Fuji.

Hi! I love your channel.. and this is my favorite series! Just a tidbit of info.. 1 koku is a type of measurement in wealth.. 1 koku is enough rice to feed one family for an entire year.. Blackthorne was just given an annual salary of 240 koku a year.. a consort from a high ranking samurai family and a house with full staff… thats some upgrade eh??
