    The fact that Quik said he doesn’t charge for people to sample his music so that the youngins can enjoy his music is dope asf. That alone deserves so much respect.

      Yeah. I think Hip-Hop took a huge blow when they started sueing people for samples and stuff. There is no telling how much dope music would've came out if people could just sample to their hearts content

However, regardless of the street politics Quik is a living legend that was guaranteed in the rotation of records spined in every function, house party, bbq, or kickback in Cali fasho especially in the 90s-early 2000s. Im a 80s baby so when I throw my events he's gonna be heard out of the bunch.

    There is always an A and B. Prince and Michael Jackson. Biggie and Tupac. DJ Akademics might have his hip hop media rival if Sharp leans heavier into hip hop culture and be the counter weight to DJ Akademics in culture. If it is planned well. This could be a great lane. AK is hated. So if Sharp can be the accepted guy he can 180 his influence and make him self competitive realistically to AK.

      Motown trained those boys to be part of the machine. They took elocution lessons, they were trained to always be 'on", they were trained to come across as wholesome as possible, they did not want them to be seen as threatening to white people. They had Michael lying about his age when he was 10, they had him saying he was 9. Those soft spoken voices Jackie, Jermaine, Michael had, and to a lesser degree Marlon Tito and Randy had were not just a coincidence. If you listen to very early J5 interviews, Michael had a little hood in him then, he really was not all that soft spoken when he first broke onto the scene.

    I swear Quik AINT NEVER have someone interview him worth his time. Nobody understands his references or loves or influences. This man stays a true legend because nobody can truly capture his gift.

    "Late Night" is one of the dopest unreleased Pac songs out there..
    And I didn't even know Quik did "Message 2 My Unborn", but considering the jazz element, it makes perfect sense that it was indeed Quik..
    Anytime (In the DR era) you can get a classic song out of Pac that was thought provoking, had depth and substance, and didn't involve beef, you did a job well done..👏

      "Message 2 My Unborn" was actually a sample from a R&B track by Shaneece I believe I might have her name wrong but I heard the original record before & instantly was like Ooh Snap that's what Pac got that track from which blended in perfectly with his style & vocals.

    • @MitchellelOfGH
      @MitchellelOfGH ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chucktz469 Sure, that’s where the SAMPLE came from, but PAC’s track was still produced by Quik.. Same way the “Late Night” track came about..
