  • The Okavango Delta was spectacular, filled with all sorts of animals: water buffalo, zebra, giraffe, elephant and wildebeest.

    After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I began my career in fashion design and freelanced both in New York City, as well as London. I designed hand knits for Elle Magazine and was the editor of the Hand Knit Page before hand knits fell out of fashion in the early 1990's and the page was discontinued. In 2008 I launched my jewelry design business, designing fine jewelry in 18 & 20 Kt Gold with gemstones that I hand select for each piece. Several awards and numerous write ups & interviews in all kinds of magazines and online zines, I rediscovered hand stitching and my life took another turn. I have been designing in some form since I sold my first felt embroidered xmas tree ornaments to a small shop in Northern California when I was 16 years old, and have never looked back. And while I've had detours along the way: had two children, worked at an advertising agency, got into acting in my early 20's, published some articles for various magazines and wrote for the Huffington Post for a few years, I have always come back to designing. It is my first love and remains so to this day.

    this is why i love sailing, it is you, the water, the wind and the silence to just be. it must have been a wonderfully meditative time to mix the joy of life and the knowledge that someone we love has gone and if you believe they will enjoy the same beauty always.

    Ariadne, Thank you for all of these beautiful videos. I send my sympathy for your Mother’s passing. I think you and Richard did right going on the river cruise and you took your Mother with you in your heart. I have think she would have approved.

    So beautiful, and those wilderbeasts were funny the way they ran.
    Fitting to have a picture of the lotus. Think on it whenever your grief gets the better of you. Lotus flower finds its way from the mud and muck (grieft), to come to the surface and then to grow and to bloom.
    Thanks for sharing wth us, I know it was raw and emotional, and very kind of you to let us in on it.
    Also, as you have said, a fitting evening for thought of your mum with all the sounds and smells of Africa.

      I love your reference to the Lotus flower. I hadn't thought of that as I was filming it, but it's so true. Thank you for that. ❤️

    You have some great shots and close ups were great too. I liked the shots of the water with the beautiful sky in the upper portion or reflecting on the water. I'm happy you were able to enjoy your mother for soooo many years, what a gift.

    I am so sorry too for your loss. By that I mean the loss of the companionship of your mother and all the memories you have of her. I cried when you told us because I know the loss of your mother even though she lived a long life. My mother died 4 years ago at age 85. Still way too young in the scheme of things.

    • @ArianeZurcher212
      @ArianeZurcher212  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh Ann. I'm so sorry. As many have said to me recently, it doesn't matter how old someone is, when they are gone it is devastating. I certainly wasn't "shocked" when my siblings told me she'd died, but it was shocking, the feelings were shocking, the loss was shocking, never the less. ❤️

    Better you took her spirit and memories for a beautiful boat ride with nature all around than sat back at camp grieving perhaps? You did what was best for you and Richard. Your mother would have understood.

    • @ArianeZurcher212
      @ArianeZurcher212  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was pretty much my thinking Jean. I mean the grieving doesn't leave no matter where you are or what you're doing, it just becomes a part of you. I felt that so strongly during this trip. She was with me, in my heart and soul, regardless of the state of her physical body. ❤️

    Hello Ariane, My belief is that your mother had a wonderful experience with you in the Okavango Delta. "Ariane, you get in the boat right this minute! And move over; make room for me; chin up. We've got adventuring to do!"
