Thanks, I think it is down to a historical tradition partly and partly down to physiological reasoning. In the same respect that women's road racing and grand tours are often on a reduced circuit/shortened course.
Keep looking this way in the coming days we are working on a course preview of the box hill road race circuit that will be used on Saturday

I'm really glad you're explaining these events before the Olympics. A little curious as to why the men and women don't always race the same distance, is that simply due to historical tradition?
