Ryan Goodson I'm a few weeks shy of 58 years old and decided to learn the fundamentals of basketball (ball handling and shooting) and your video was very helpful. I just watched it again after doing the drills for about a year, in order to see what else I could pick up. My dribbling has improved immensely, in part as a result of these drills as well as others. I'm having a blast learning this stuff and get a good workout. Thanks for posting this; I hope to be drafted by the NBA in the spring.
I love the sound of a basketball hit the floor like that. Sweet music to my ears. People don't understand he not trying to teach u how to dribble. Anybody can dribble your mom, a lil boy or girl can dribble but u don't have control of the ball; the ball is controlling u. He teaching u to develop handles and means controlling the ball making it do what u want it to do instead of it controlling u. The reason why most people don't like basketball because they suck at it..
there is so many haters on here it is sickening... the man is teaching... he is not saying he is the best at it...he is showing you techniques used. Why does the world hate so much... I'm so tired of it. God help me.
if you people cant focus on what he's teaching instead of his pits and the sounds why are you watching. this is a REALLY good drill that you can do without a hoop to get really good. He's right about habits though. I didnt make freshman basketball in highschool but now im one of the best in my town as a junior because i realized i just needed to develop better habits and that eliminated the biggest holes in my game.
Better habits absolutely make you MORE successful. They don't guarantee success, though, especially against as talented or more talented people who may work just as hard. They simply allow you to have a chance to compete with that competition.
Went to his camp today he is a great coach and a great shot you people with your "he is making too much noise " that means he is going hard, on the drill
Thank you so much, I watched this video for the first time last year and the only thing I thought was "holy shit his dribbling sounds like a fuckin machine gun". I have been doing these drills every day for a year and I have seen great improvement. THANK YOU!
Kingston Jamaica Yeah! Larry Bird, Red Auerbach & The Boston Celtics - Winning Basketball (COMPLETE ) Michael Jordan's Basketball Lesson Steve Nash_Basketball Training
Kingston Jamaica There is other techniques to adapting your muscles and forearms to dribble faster. My thing is control dribble. I love speed, but if you have no control of the ball in game time situations your team will not love your dribbling ability and coach will bench you pretty much. So with super speed dribbling ability comes the responsiveness of also applying control. Master control dribbling drills, and good well balanced ball handle, then work on speed, and mastery of both speed and control in unison, That's my philosophy. Coach Ryan is helping folks to learn how to increase dribble speed! learn his methods, and add them to everything else you're doing is my suggeston.
Wow dude thanks this really helps. :) last year I didn't make the basketball team because of my handles but now this year I made it because of you. These are really great full tips. Now my handles are tremendous.!
Holy shit your handles are insane. But I tried this out a couple of times and my speed is starting to make a huge change. Thanks for the tip I really appreciate it.
When you switch to your left hand, you need to make sure you are promoting symmetry by readjusting your shoulder, hip and leg placement. It appears that when you are using the left hand, your body is still in the same position as if you were using your right hand, this therefore can impede natural movement.
He does the dribbles like he does to give you an individual skill to practice in repetitions. Bounce the ball harder, squat down lower. It's about being explosive and agile with dexterity.
If you live in an apartment complex hopefully they have a basketball full or half court. If they don't, you can practice ball handling drills almost anywhere, tennis court, racketball court, any cement area thats flat.
+Ryan Goodson is it necessary to flick your wrist when dribbling. I think that when you flick your wrist with your dribble it slows it down. Better to be locking elbows and pushing the ball down
I don't lock my elbow on a pass and I'm a very accurate passer. I only extend and lock my elbow on my shot. No lie the key to being a good passer is not by some formula but by passing smart and looking for the best and most accurate choices, not some passing formula. You have to find flaws in the defense for passing. And, that's the same with dribbling look for your opponents flaws because if you do this formula he is teaching believe me you will get ripped. All you have to do is protect the ball well and if you protect the ball right you should have no problem.
i think this is just "keys to a quicker handle" like the title says, not "how to pass accurately" or "how to dribble." This isn't as much of a formula than just drills for explosive/quicker dribbling and whatnot. It's like doing box jumps to the max or squats....no one actually goes that low to jump, but by drilling your lower body that way, you'll ideally jump higher.
If you dribble hard, the ball bounces faster, if the ball bounces faster, the ball is in your hand longer, if the ball is in your hand longer, you've got more control compared to someone doing light dribbles where it takes the ball a while to get back to the hand.
if u do this for 5 days over and over again...i swear yo handle will be on another level...cuz freshman year i was doin this and my handles improved drastically and i caught on quick but then i stopped and now i need to do this again but this time until the season starts along with shooting
Elbows locked when you shoot. Elbows locked when you pass. Pound the ball. Great tips, good tutorial. Well done Ryan Goodson!
AngolaSun Thank you

Went to his camp today he is a great coach and a great shot you people with your "he is making too much noise " that means he is going hard, on the drill
I probably couldn't even actually accomplish that drill man! He is freakin' beast!
You're one of the lucky ones. I have my computer in the living room. once he started making the sounds, my whole family looked at me.
I would do this but he makes me extremely uncomfortable every time he makes a sound
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Holy shit your handles are insane. But I tried this out a couple of times and my speed is starting to make a huge change. Thanks for the tip I really appreciate it.
Oh my gosh man nice handles

Damnnn cocaine is a hell of a drug!
Your handles are simply amazing
Is that what she said?
Stoner Simpson it's what I said
almost broke my finger trying this hahahah
Great video it works handles and strengthening arms
Great video. Ignore the trolls.
This really helped increase the speed of my handles thanks for the tips
If im a player im thinking, if your exerting that much energy into dribbling by the time I try to do anything else I'll be winded
Exactly
+Treyed Up you work hard enough so it doesn't tire you anymore
dribbles come last first u work on your scoring
+Erkabryne Perry dribble come last? Wouldn't need your dribble to create opportunities to score? Especially off the DRIBBLE??
+clutchc johnson not if u playin 50 lmao
Good for strength, great results in the long run.
I sorta noticed that when you were dribbling fast your elbows weren't locked....
He does the dribbles like he does to give you an individual skill to practice in repetitions. Bounce the ball harder, squat down lower. It's about being explosive and agile with dexterity.
Im going to have quicker handles like him someday
This dude quick to the point where it's funny
ye the problem is there is nowhere to practice bbal unless u own a house.
What are you talking about??
Almost any park or public court YMCA or any high schools during the summer are prime
The park and on the block, because I practice at these location all the time and at school.
If you live in an apartment complex hopefully they have a basketball full or half court. If they don't, you can practice ball handling drills almost anywhere, tennis court, racketball court, any cement area thats flat.
ever heard of....outside?
Awesome drills Coach Ryan, love your tenaciousness :) and love for the game of basketball. Curated!

+Ryan Goodson is it necessary to flick your wrist when dribbling. I think that when you flick your wrist with your dribble it slows it down. Better to be locking elbows and pushing the ball down

This actually helps a lot. It increases me PG% to %90!
Wtf is a PG%
+Lakendrick Pettaway Dude there is no such thing as a PG% read the %
Where is Chris Paul
Did this for 10 minutes and its already working, sheeeeeeeiiit

Getting better everyday doing this really works im so much faster at dribbling thanks.
Mm mm mm.....Hardees.
