How did you remove the accelerator linkage?

Used a flat head screwdriver to pop the link off the ball.

@@AnubisReviews Thanks! I looked around for a locking mechanism, so I’m glad it’s a simpler design.

I learned nothing. Putting the throttle body in a blast cabinet with walnut shells is great too.

Tearing down the entire throttle body and putting it in a cabinet is time consuming and very few people even have access to one. Also, the video is extremely informative since all other videos have you removing 40+ bolts and disassembling the entire top of the engine and removing the coil and distributor assemblies just to pull the injectors. Doing it this way saves you 2 or more hours of work and using a tub and brake and carb cleaner and a good brush is how these old truck are meant to be cleaned.

So how did doing this improve the performance ? I have a air leak from throttle body shaft bushings and am debating on how big a project want to make this

Well the throttle was gummed up to the point it had no idle air so the previous owner just raised the idle to the point it required your foot on the break or it would do 15. Also the buildup caused a sticky takeoff. The throttle body gets warned up making the buildup soft and sticky. That makes the flaps stick and when you want an easy takeoff you'd have to press harder on the pedal. It would unstick and you'd squeal tires. If ant bolts are loose then buildup can cause uneven wear and leaking could happen meaning less horsepower.
