In Romania, I’ve seen lots of people from Sri Lanka recently, replacing local workers in low paid jobs and I don’t see how this would happen unless they are getting abused and underpaid - I am convinced they are illegally paying them under the minimum wage

    • @madalinaanton3253
      @madalinaanton3253 ปีที่แล้ว +2

They are paid minimum wage but they are renting in Obor and Berceni and they live up to 10 people in the same appartament. It just means businesses are desperate for workers in Romania, indian and srilankan workers are hard to train because they don't speak romanian yet you see them everywhere, in MegaImage, in restaurants, in food delivery, which usually means a serious contract and a big brand that cannot afford to commit fraud like you are saying, which to be honest happens to romanians a lot when the employer gives you a contract for a part time job and pays you for a minimum wage job. I would be worried for foreign workers in construction though and the living conditions provided to them. I don't say these things lightly, my mother used to work in Spain, 15 hours a day 7 days a week, 1000euros a month living in a warehouse of 100 other women.

      Undocumented immigrants violate immigration laws.
Undocumented immigrants have detention, deportation, sanctions and malicious treatment
Immigration in Spain increased in 21st century.
In 2009 immigrants accounted to 12% population in Spain.
Immigrants originate from Eastern Europe, South America and Africa.
There are 9 detention centres of immigrants in Spain.
Immigrants use airports, land borders and sea routes for entry in Spain.
Undocumented immigrants became highlights after 'Leyda detention Extranjeria' in 1980s.

I'm not saying that this is fair, but the same happens in any Advanced Economy (Germany, Italy, the US, Canada, Australia, etc.). It's a tricky topic when people ask you, "Do you need a work permit?" And you have no legal options to get one legally. And even when you meet the skills and criteria is hard to get any kind of paperwork (I said it based on my own experience), the less skilled people faced uncountable challenges, but no government wants to find ways to fix this issue since it's not convenient.

I get it if someone needs help with household chores or some babysitting for few hours here and there... but 16 hours of "do everything instead of me"... Especially childcare responsibilities...They call themselves parents and then make others to raise their kids... poor kids will grow up and will go to therapy with all kinds of mental illnesses just because mommy and daddy was allergic to commitments... ... also, they can do videos only about one issue at a time or the shock effect goes out the window...

This problem is not only in Spain but anywhere where undocumented workers are exploited. Anyone putting in years of work should have a path to legality and have their cases heard to allow them to stay. The other option would be a severe fine for individuals for allowing undocumented workers to work in their households without paying into the tax system and withholding a fair wage to prevent abuse.

If people accept, others will take advantage of and or, others follow lead.

1080 a month? If these women are working 7 days a week that's like 36 euros a day. And that's so sad. I've been talking to my therapist about my relationship with my mother and she believes I don't open much to my mother is because she left me to live with her mother when I was younger and then when we moved to the US she was always working so I barely saw her. So I have feelings of abandonment even when I knew she was working and got to her on my breaks from school. I can't even imagine what those kids must feel not having barely seen this women for almost two decades. If they are anything like me, am sure they intellectually know she is doing it for them but is hard not to be resentful and then having to keep it in because how can they say anything when she is doing it for them. It's a sick cycle where things just go unsaid

36euros a day is not that bad. I’m in Shanghai, the best city of China and I’m working as an engineer in Chinese Academy of Sciences. My salary is about 1100 euros a month. Now image how much is the minimal wage here and comparing to that, what would be your choice? Hint: The Gini index of Spain is 34.9 and that of China is 38.2, so let me be cocky and say that our two countries are about the same.

@@mike4393 My point was, if she can save half of her salary (feasible, because she eats and sleeps in her master’s house, however miserable that sounds. I barely spend any money on things except for food and rent), her family will get much much more. I admit that companionship is very important, but that has to be set to a lower priority when you are still struggling to survive.

Thank you for showing this we've seen alot of these reports regarding Qatar or the UAE but i know for a fact the restaurant's kitchen and construction sites in France are even worse in terms of exploitation but we never hear about these cases while people are often dying or getting badly hurt with zero right and zero accountability for those exploiting them add to the mix the most brutal and racist police in Europe who's known to misstreat colored people you're getting an idea of what these poor souls live !

@@tobiisiba1641 For the homeless and relations with the police, it's much worse in France! No homeless people in Qatar or the UAE, no people dying in police custody in Qatar and the UAE, no people beaten or blinded by the police in Qatar or the United Arab Emirates! France has been condemned on several occasions (11 times since 2018) for violence against immigrants and foreign minors by the European Court of Human Rights, also for prison overcrowding and for unworthy detention conditions: France has been new condemned by the ECHR. In a judgment of July 6, 2023, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) condemns France for unworthy conditions of detention. This is not the case for the UAE or Qatar.
