Of course it will end up this way, that’s NRS for you. They are unable to balance out the game even without tag assists (due to their core design principle of “cool” over fair). The only question is will it be unfair and yet fun (like MK9), or unfair and irritating (like MK11). And there will be players like Dragon to show us whom to pick. He is always a great indicator of what characters are broken way beyond any reason.

Opponents will be afraid to press while that’s charging. You go for sub’s unsafe b2 and if they block it let him rip now you’re completely safe maybe even plus. If they try to punish not respecting the Kano ball then they get hit. This is just scratching the surface

Well if they show up on the base roster they’ll definitely be human, however the kameos are depicted as their very first appearances, so if they’re cameos they’ll have their MK3 cyborg designs.

The question nobody has asked is if your cameo gets hit when you are on your last breath or when any chip will take you out do you die from the hit your Kameo takes?
This was answered in Maxes stream. If you have just a pixel of health you can actually use the Kameo as a last ditch effort to avoid death, but every hit your kameo takes will take away meter. If you have no meter, then yes, you will die if the kameo is hit with very low health.

I absolutely love the kameo idea. It allows people to play who they want without being too concerned about tool sets. Pick who you want, and if you need a few abilities your main doesn't have, well here you go

for that move you need to be in the air when jax hits the ground to avoid it or be ready with block so only the opponent gets hit. and since you are the one executing the move you should have the upper hand to react in time to avoid it. quite a clever little addition
I think kameo fighters are a great way to reintroduce the old cast like we’ve never seen before without learning an absurd number of match ups. Lookin pretty damn fun so far
The amount of matchups you'll have to learn will be ridiculous. Not only the maybe 40 main characters but also the possible combinations of those 40 with the extra kameo roster

I don't know, the kameo system kind of puts me off. I already don't like crosstag fighting games on the basis I can never have a simple 1v1 whenever I want, and this is giving me heavy MvC vibes, even if it isn't to the same extent.
i don't get this KAMEO thing, feels anticlimactic and so out of place for an other character to jump into the fight, do something and get out. why not just make exciting new 3 classes for each character where each class feels completely different (like Mkx but make it even better) if i want this feeling of characters jumping in and out of fights i would go play Marvel vs capcom or some anime fighting game, but i want to play mortal kombat they just have to not force people to use this thing in ranked matches imo
I think its dope. We might get a similiar size roster to Armageddon something we dont see in fighting games. The kameo are a cool way to do it. I loved the variations in mkx but in mk11 butchered it.
Looks like you and me will keep playing 11 and x. I agree I personally don’t enjoy it and many others won’t either. The thing that kills me more than anything though is something seems off about the kharacters and I think it is the more cartoon style art direction. Truly a shame because I thought they would keep the realism art style of the characters in mk11. The artwork in mk11 is amazing and there are so many terrific looking skin and gear combos. Additionally, none of the character concepts in this game inspire me. I do have to admit I really do like the way they animated liu kang’s moves in this game and if I was forced to play this game as of now I would play him. I have never played liu kang so that says a lot I think. The fatal blow skull and bone reveals and blood affects also look absolutely terrible in this game.
I wonder if Kameos will be a setting where they're on by default, but you can turn them iff in the settings. The system will stkll he there, but turning the setting to "off" makes it where you can't use it unless it's forced.
Man after MK11 I thought I was done with NRS fighting games, but MK1 is looking to remedy everything I disliked about that game. No more breakaway, no more split meter that auto-regens, no more variations, a seemingly vast amount of room for player creativity, and fun looking combos. I feel like this is the game that's going to make me fall in love with the franchise again.
I feel the opposite. Not having regenerating meter, variations, armoured moves and armour breaker, krushing blows... Everything thate made MK11 great will be gone.

The flair of the kameo fighters is underwhelming. Really don’t like the mechanic. Firstly I don’t like when two fighters team up that wouldn’t mix lore-wise. Secondly there is a high chance that there are maybe two or three kameo kharacters that are superior so we will see kameo mirror matches all the time. Thirdly I feel it disrupts the atmosphere. I like the idea of two Kombatants fight in mortal kombat 1v1. Having some random fighters doing some silly animations in the background when facing of or at the end of a round is just not atmospheric.
The Kameo system is already so wild and versatile, it leads to both situational awareness and creativity at the same time. NRS/WB have done it again, and it's not even scratching the surface!
Done what again? Introduced another game changing mechanic that will be broken with certain characters and have to have nerfs. Just make a huge roster that is fully playable and have gameplay as it seems will he, just minus the goofy kameos

Not sure about all this yet. I think this whole thing is going to blow up in their face to be honest. For some people MK 12 is going to be the game where their favorite fighter was in it but was just a Kamio. Not to mention these Kamio's are going to change Mortal Kombat at the fundamental level. Mortal Kombat has never been an assist fighter.

@@Rockysbeats I'm skeptical but I am going to try it. I have been playing Mortal Kombat since 1991 and there is only one game in the series that I didn't like. That being said no game is perfect. I really loved Mortal Kombat 9 but it was very imbalanced. 10 felt more like Killer Instinct then Mortal Kombat. And 11 had so many defensive options that high level combos were a rarity to see land against knowledgeable opponents. But I thought they were all fun games that had a lot going for them. Right now I am wondering why Netherrealm decided Mortal Kombat needs to be Marvel vs. Capcom all of a sudden but I am going to give it a chance. But like I said before if Netherrealm makes a character like Sareena a Kamio and Homelander is playable they are going to get some harsh criticism that they deserve.

I think the Kameo Fighters will be a game changer for the Mortal Kombat franchise not just offensively but defensively. If they just did the same thing as the last game; people will complain and stop playing a few months after release. You have to evolve and try new things. That's what makes Mortal Kombat so kool and unique. The kombo potential in this game will be crazy. I think you did a great job explaining how it works for new players. Job well done 🎖
Since you can break Fatal Blow, are they breakable mid attack or right at start up? And if so, does the attacker lose their FB and can't regain it once it's broken?

My only problem with this (and I hope it’s not the case) is that a lot of these cameo fighters won’t be playable and that makes me mad. Like, Sonya is my favorite character and if she’s not playable, it’s going to bug me

Not sure about all this yet. I think this whole thing is going to blow up in their face to be honest. For some people MK 12 is going to be the game where their favorite fighter was in it but was just a Kamio. Not to mention these Kamio's are going to change Mortal Kombat at the fundamental level. Mortal Kombat has never been an assist fighter.

@@Rockysbeats I'm skeptical but I am going to try it. I have been playing Mortal Kombat since 1991 and there is only one game in the series that I didn't like. That being said no game is perfect. I really loved Mortal Kombat 9 but it was very imbalanced. 10 felt more like Killer Instinct then Mortal Kombat. And 11 had so many defensive options that high level combos were a rarity to see land against knowledgeable opponents. But I thought they were all fun games that had a lot going for them. Right now I am wondering why Netherrealm decided Mortal Kombat needs to be Marvel vs. Capcom all of a sudden but I am going to give it a chance. But like I said before if Netherrealm makes a character like Sareena a Kamio and Homelander is playable they are going to get some harsh criticism that they deserve.

Not feeling the kameo at all it throws the game off. They should’ve let marvel vs capcom keep this feature. They should’ve just brought back the 2v2 battle. Now 1v1 gonna be bad

At 15:29 for sure but plenty of other times you can see in some of the lights hanging in Johnny's house are "shadows" of 4d hypercubes. I wonder if this is a reference to other dimensions considering how crazy the character leaks have been.
I think the Kameo Fighters will be a game changer for the Mortal Kombat franchise not just offensively but defensively. If they just did the same thing as the last game; people will complain and stop playing a few months after release. You have to evolve and try new things. That's what makes Mortal Kombat so kool and unique. The kombo potential in this game will be crazy. I think you did a great job explaining how it works for new players. Job well done 🎖
Since you can break Fatal Blow, are they breakable mid attack or right at start up? And if so, does the attacker lose their FB and can't regain it once it's broken?
I think it can only be broken if it’s mid combo. Can’t be broken on it’s own I believe.
There's also a recharge time of it gets broken

What an unnesesarly complicated and stupid mechanic (in implementation too). Wasnt more easy to give kameo moves or it's substitutes to regular charakters?
