If this one has a ecu tune he might have trans tuned too, you have to tune out torque management and adjust shift points so it doesn’t drop rpm as much. I’ve seen 8L80 cars run with and beat 10R/10L80s and manuals. There is a lack of well tuned LTs in FLA for some reason. That’s why the manual LT cars don’t suffer from a wall even though they have even fewer gears, no torque management.
already did pulled a couple bus lengths on the m5 comp, has not come out yet , we will re run it since it lost pretty bad so we wanna make sure it was not an issue on the m5

5th gear is a long gear in the z06. It starts at 125 mph and ends at 170 mph! 6th gear is from 170 to 210. Which means you reach top speed almost at redline.
The faster car will be the gt500 even with mods. I prefer the gt500 but it all depends on your taste ( like the sounds they make and how they look, how their interior is, etc.) But they both make great power from mods.
I think if the car is used for a street car it doesn't really matter. Both perform well and both have great power. It depends what you like about the car (doesn't just have to be about performance..it can simply be personal taste in looks). In the end it will be your car so it doesn't really matter what anyone else says or thinks..they are not the ones paying the bill and it is your car (you only have to make yourself happy).
The Shelby GT500 also has a better transmission having a dual clutch transmission. The 8 speed in the Z06 definitely needs a tune because it doesn't hold up.
A trans tune would definitely have helped it a bit for sure. An x pipe , tb, and Trans tune would be enough to win. Hopefully we will see more mod with the z06 soon.
Remember that Z06 might have the 6.2L, but it has the baby eaton blower on it 1.7L. That thing gets hot quick. It hits hard off the rip, but falls hard at the top end. vs the 5.2L in the GT500 but the 2.65L blower that is WAY more efficient. This is about what you'd expect.
Negative the 3LZ. Low mileage is 80k not much difference , I’ll take the 500😎🔥, better tranny , better resale , better exterior/interior and it’s not a Chevy😉
@Brandon Humphrey Yeah, a a very limited time before it eats though the tires (and brake pads) due to all the weight. The GT500 CAN be run on the track, but you'll be eating tires right and left, which is why most folks give up on these cars quickly for track use...

@@marcozuniga1186 just my opinion, but those mods probably gave this ZO6 50hp and 30 ft-lbs so still below ZR1 power. Peak #s dont tell the whole story of the difference. ZR1 has dual injection system, bigger blower and a few other differences along with wider tires and suspension tune is more aggressive all making it a quicker car, there is 100 lbs more weight give or take depending on trim levels but that really isn’t a lot. Again , I’m not an expert and don’t own either so just my 2cents fwiw

Is there a break between runs or its back to back like the video shows? The gt500 could simply be pulling away because it reach optimum oil temp for best performance or maybe just have better overall cooling system to reduce heat soak. The little things people don't think about.
The C7Z pulls power after the first run, I've watched over and over on the dyno. They have a serious heat soak issue. He needs an interchiller, they add a lot of power and can be run back to back.

Another good vid! The GT500 would start pulling everytime Z06 hits that 5th gear which is too tall. The supercharged C7 Z51 A8 i had was around 620-630 rwhp and i raced a friend's 2020 GT500 that had a JLT intake (gives snake 30-40 hp) and resonator delete. His car was at my back bumper from a 70 roll until about 150 when i started inching away.
@@samholcombe3129 I think Z51 has slightly more aggressive gearing down low but its not that much of a difference. Both Z51 and Z06 have that 5th gear issue. You basically fall out of the powerband and when you climb close to end of the gear it starts to recover. Makes it bad for roll racing. Most cars i raced weren't fast enough to take advantage or i was so far ahead by then it didn't matter. Lol. @@tornatic1983 I looked it up, ZO6 and Stingray have 2.41, Z51 has 2.73. That might help some but with 2 or 3 OD gears and 8 th being .62 I bet 3.42-3.55-3.73 would solve 5th gear wall problem and still be fine on the highway and top speed.

Z06 performed really well that the z06 is making way less WHP probably around 620-640 WHP with intake and headers and 93 tune and is right next the gt500 because of how much it weighs the z06 weighs basically 700 pounds less then the gt500 and the gt500 is making 700 WHP stock who wouldn’t expect it too win, that 60-80 WHP more then that vette got it that quarter of a car win and makes up for its weight difference there both amazing cars,,,,, pair that stock gt500 against a stock demon or stock super stock and I’m 100% confident that gt500 would get walked even tho the gt500 is only weighing 250 pounds less then the demon and super stock they simply just have more power

@@basketball798 my bad, the M5 I had in mind had a JB4 and E30 only. Still not bad for a four door sedan. A downpipe and tuned M5 would walk the life out of a GT500 tho. Just sayin

The 10 speed is way better then the 8 speed
The 10 speed suffers in a similar fashion , but not till 7th gear, not as bad and by that time your doing 140+ in 6th.

I think a manual c7 would've done better, that gearing in the auto is booty. The gt500 only pulled on his dead gear.
I would have thought 110 hp more would have pulled much harder against the vette.
It's not 110 more hp anymore since the z06 is modded.
@@AutoGlory yeah. I have seen headers actually decrease a z06's top end. Stock exhausts on those things are very good.
