U read, hesr from ppl who lived this era and through movies. Life was simpler back then. I am now 76 and hav mor time to contemplate. Ive alwsys enjoyed Payne and Colbert. She retired and moved to Caribbean wher she lived out her days. Lots of ppl came to visit her....including Nancy Reagan, Pres wife. Cute wholesome movie. Nice change from my regular mystery/thrillers. 👍
@@terrydarhkthey are 74… let them type how they want. They could have severe arthritis in their hands making it difficult and painful to type. We are lucky enough to hear from someone who is 74, in any way they can express themselves, so you should be more respectful.

Plot- Presidential candidate Dewey Roberts (John Sheppard) is about to address his supporters at a banquet in Washington, D.C. In the audience, Roberts' childhood teacher, Nora Trinell (Claudette Colbert), is waiting to greet him and is reminiscing about her years educating the impressionable young Roberts. Nora reflects back on her marriage to fellow teacher Dan Hopkins (John Payne) and to his ill-fated decision to fight for the Canadian army in World War I.
I can never understand why they excluded the Native Indians and African Americans. It sure makes the language used in allegiance to a call for unity was not able to provide justice for all.
