Spike----my hero, my idol. He's the greatest of them all. He's the inspiration for all the Monty Pythons and many others too. The older I get, the more I appreciate what an amazing comedic genius he was.
Utterly off the trolly but pure Milligan.. i often fire-up a bit Spike Milligan zaniness when my depression is treating me pretty harshly, he always seems to help a little bit.. ta very much wherever you are kind sir!
I just love your pseudo! Please don’t worry, the feeling of what is described, in Pavlovian terms, as “depression” is simply a sentiment of dissatisfaction- which in many circumstances is fully justified. How can we possibly be happy and carefree in TODAY’S world??? It’s insane (which literally means unhealthy in Latin- for those who care for words). According to the Ancients, Melancholia was a noble sentiment- reserved for only the refined spirits. Humour is the best medicine in most cases. Comedians are usually extremely intelligent and sensitive persons, who nearly all suffer from what we call “depression”. That is, if they have an iota of talent. So take heart dear soul! Spike was a unique genius, a rare pearl in British humor.
A comic genius , all my life , 65 and counting , I've collected spine millignas work , from the goons to the Q series . Creative genius , no one was safe , the all encompassing humour . No drippy apologies or cancellation, hard work and creativity . 👍🇬🇧
Watching this remarkable work, I felt that today it's the reverse of this: If I manage to actually see my NHS Doctor, I get an overwhelming sense of privilege and the practice makes me feel that the NHS is super fine and dandy - when I really know it's underfunded/staffed and falling apart. Yet, if I go and have private consultation they go out of their way to make me feel it's all affordable for people like me - even though I'll actually go bankrupt for just a splinter removed!
I always wondered why I loved Spike and his amazing view of life. In today's times, as a 54 year old guy, I fully understand the non conformist stick authority up your arse, surreal humour he created. Spike was a genius.
you prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
0:36 Nowadays if you said “National Health” you wouldn’t get past the receptionist for three weeks and then only to see a nurse let alone a doctor.😡 Mind you with that receptionist, Spike would have taken even longer and made a good joke out of it.🤣 RIP Spike, still loved and missed.❤️
Read all his books ate all his sandwiches watched Q all of it he's brilliant as a Indian in till death us do part. Banned by the Beeb saying he's was too racist. A comic genius. Don't rest in peace keep on being funny.

Actually being in the presence of a doctor in those days before they were became call centre workers. Fond memories from a past era of health care and humour.
God only knows where Spike got it from, the man was a genius and so left field its untrue. The Pakistani dalek sketch is absolutely surreal. Wherever you are Spike thanks.
I agree... The only prescription I would advise is to take one Theremin ... It definitely would remove most steps , and be at least a start to a smooth transition.
Spike invented a speaking code with his brother. They would pronounce a P in front of every vowel. So vowel would be vpowpel. Spadly I’vp e npevper hpepard hpim dpemponstrpatpe pit.
He was good in his own shows, but he also made major contributions to _The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine_ . You can see the contrast there between the really lunatic skits that he thought up, versus Marty’s more laid-back, self-effacing brand of surreality.
Who's playing the wife? Is it Lynda Baron? When the doctor put his feet up on the table ... just as well I hadn't taken a sip of my coffee; it would have gone all over the screen. Thanks for sharing.
God Spike is so hit and miss. A sketch like this is absolutely golden, but you've got to wade through a bunch of duffers to find it. He was certainly a genius, but I guess he really did hit a career high early with Goon Show. I've yet to hear a poor episode.

YES
When comedy was funny, and simply just good fun. The good old days.
The spinning desk once the wife confirms they're National Health. 😂
Yeah!
That's not as funny, when you're stuck with the NHS for life, and get absolutely zero treatment!
Still....it WAS a brilliant sketch 😅
As true today as it was then

John Bluthal as the doctor. Brilliant! Loved him as Frank Pickle on The Vicar of Dibley.
Real comedy, in the good old days, never to be seen again.

His series were fantastic , man's a genius , and the wonderful Julie Breck......
I rather watch this than any of the CRAP on TV Today
The best bits was Julia Breck in the nurses uniform & the private or national health.🤣🤣🤣
I love Spike’s take on the last 5 years, and 2020 especially.

It's weird, but somehow they made the stylophone sound northern,
