Prismacolors are very soft and they blend very easily during this process that requires less work so naturally people will choose Prismas instead of other coloured pencils that require a little bit more time to work with.

You can blend the base layer with the same brush but just damp your brush in coconut oil (just a little bit) and it will work easily because pencil colours you're using are oil based
