- On May 2, nine acts had their first rehearsal of Eurovision 2018. We talk about some of our favourites, our growers and disappointments. Acts we talk about include Hungary's AWS, Ukraine's Mélovin, Slovenia's Lea Sirk.

YES YES YES to all the Hungary love! it makes me so happy to hear that people who don't usually rate Metal as a genre are connecting with the song. A good Metal song is so much more than screaming and AWS portray this perfectly. It's emotion, it's passion, it can make you feel almost euphoric when done right. This is an anthem, this is outside of the Eurovision box, this portrays emotion that almost everyone can relate to with losing a parent (something which I only just experienced at the beginning of this year) so there are so many reasons why Hungary are my favourites to win this year (not least because i'm a big Metal fan). I will be voting in the final! 12 POINTS FROM THE UK!

Bravo Hungary, so happy more and more people are starting to like it! It's just so natural and sincere, not heartless and sterile like some other entrants.

I'm very happy to hear these beautiful words about AWS 😊😃 I'm from Hungary and I love them, I'll go to their concert in June and I cannot wait 😃 I think the fans are very supportive and the guys are amazingly talanted and funny, too 😂 So I hope that my country will reach a good place, I would be happy with a place in the top 10 😊❤
My favourite in this year (and maybe in Eurovision) is Melovin!!! 😱😱😍😍😍 This guy is amazing, I loved the song for the first listen and then I listened it every day, I searched other songs from him, I downloaded his album... so I actually fall in love with him 😂 his voice, his songs, actually what I like is the atmosphere of his songs, I can't explain, just Under The Ladder is THE PERFECT SONG for me ❤❤❤ The stage is amazing, I love that part of the performance when the whole stage is on fire (on the national selection performance) and he plays the piano 😍 I love it, it's magical and wonderful, the videoclip is perfect for the song, too. I really want to Ukraine win this year's contest (again) 😂😂😍

Winners of the day were Hungary and Poland. Hungary is just amazing full stop, wasn't expecting anything less. But I was worried about Poland because I love the studio track and I thought it just wouldn't translate well to the Eurovision stage but it really does and I'm so excited about it :D

Hungary wasn't in my top 10. But it has since grown on me. Hungary has since been my favorite Eurovision country ever and I really love them to win. This could be it. I'm so excited!!

After i heard AWS's song I was on binge watching their interviews & videos. If they win, my respect for Eurovision audience will grow radically. The members of the band seem to be so nice and humbled but they posses so much contagious energy!
Chris you took the words of my mouth, countries that send good songs that challenge the stereotype of what a Eurovision song should sound need to be rewarded. Variety is the key for the contest to move forward and no country stands for that more than Hungary ( Georgia is almost there). Loved their song last year but surprisingly love this year's song even more. I finally see the bookmakers reaction to something that I always knew was much better than the 200/1 odds they were given. I am glad I had a cheeky Ew bet on Hungary 😎

I didn't use to be that keen on Hungary's song but now I really, really like it - it gives me chills every time and I love the emotion the lead singer puts into the performance! It's so powerful

Don't really have biggest grower and disappointment as all performances are within expectation. Also, no second winner too but I definitely put Hungary as my winner for the day and chris and william have explained my reasoning perfectly.
Hungary, Montenegro and Georgia, those are my favourites. But Slovenia, Poland and Sweden were quite impressive, too...

The last two years my least favourite song ended up winning I'd be very happy if my number one actually won this year. (Hungary)
I admire Hungary this year more than I like it. It’s not a kind of music I’m fond of but the emotion, power, and risk-taking should be commended. I hope it finishes well, but it’s not my favorite.

The only reason i ll watch semi final 2 is Hungary. It's not in my top 5 but it's definitely the best song in this semi final.
As for the worst song of semi final 2...Norway.
My top 5 for the final remains the same with one change in the order : Italy - France - Estonia - Greece - Bulgaria

It would be awesome,but I'm trying to stick to the reality. When Kati Wolf represented Hungary everybody loved it, called it a potential winner and came 20th-something place. I'm just happy we are sending something not so manufactured that live music lovers who find Eurovision crap can relate to. I just wanna see them in the finals.

Chris you sound better! Nice to hear. I really don’t get Ukraine. My favourite Eurovision country is 42nd in my rankings. I thought it would grow on me like Hungary but know its kinda just sat there and expire. My grower today is Hungary, I was already warming up to it and this only helped. Still not a fan of the chorus but I appreciate it. My disappointment is Ukraine cause to me everyone else was good. They’re the only ones i can give it to. My Silver (ooh this is hard) goes too Sweden. For first time viewers it’ll be a wow. I didn’t think it’d be here but looking back yeah this is it. HM’s go to Georgia, Poland and Hungary (even though I didn’t like Poland and Hungary before). Anyways my gold goes to Slovenia. How can you not like this? She’s too good! I love that the song is in Slovenian it keeps it authentic. She needs to qualify. Anyways I think this half will have more qualifiers than the first.

Why The Ukraine? I don't really understand it. Can you explain grammar behind this? It is because you mentioned Ukraine last? If Last country in the list was for example Slovenia it would be The Slovenia?
The Ukraine is an old way to say Ukraine that really originates from when it was part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, especially in WW2 terminology. It is not very respectful to say ''The Ukraine'' because it basically implies the Ukraine is just a part of some other country, when it is really an independent country.
