Dumbarton wow,....I was student in Keil school in 1986 till 1989 and unfortunately school ended in very sad way,...but I miss Dumbarton and Keil school so much and thanks to Scotland for accepting me to study in beautiful place in the universe,....
Every year from birth to 18years old,I attended the Florida Folk Festival in White Springs with my family. The one performance we never missed was the Beers family and Dumbartons Drums was always the favorite. The sheer beauty of Evelyn Beers 'voice can still bring me to tears.
This was my mother's favorite . Attended folk festivals on the Beers home grounds in the Berkshire Mountains .. what special times those were ... even in the rain! So many wonderful performers... none better than the Beers. Bob playing a cornstalk fiddle and singing "Oh I had little chicken and it laid a little egg ..." The Beers played at my sister's wedding. He drove his four wheeler through a snowstorm and brought his psaltery and they sang "Mairi's Wedding". My very favorite was his own "Peace Carol"- sung also by John Denver and The Muppets on their Christmas album.
Fond delight, indeed! I first heard the Beers family perform this lovely song- Dumbarton's Drum- at a small College in North Carolina about 1964. Bob's a master fiddler and psaltry player. That's a psaltry you hear in the background. Evelyn and her daughter are singing. After the concert I was hitchhiking and the Beers picked me up in their VW Microbus. Dear people, sweet memories.
What a wonderful surprise. I came to listen to the Beers Family, which was a most wonderful moment, and was also treated to pictures of a beautiful season and was introduced to Mari Campbell, Emily Smith, and Robert Wilson. I worked for a public TV station back in the '70s and we did several folk music programs. I always looked forward to working with The Beers Family (I think there was a second daughter?) because they were such wonderful people. Thank you for your work on putting this together. It's greatly appreciated.
Oh my gosh, that brings back memories! We had the Beers family album when I was a child--I have several of the songs memorized, but would love to have a copy of that music if anyone knows where to find it!
hi i love theese old photos i was wondering i grew up in victoria street there is a picture on this video at the 42 second mark i was wondering if you had the original that i could get a copy of from you
This breaks my heart how could such beauty be allowed to diminish and vanish the buildings the architecture the tenements ect and especially the people 🤣
The Labour party over the decades totally ripped the heart out of Dumbarton, Renton, Alexandria, Bonhill, and Glasgow with a stupid mindset of ring roads, motorways, and socialist utopian tragic looking architecture.
My home town!😢💕

Nice memories of my hometown. Enjoyed the old pictures.
I had two of the Beers family recordings on vinyl many years ago, this was my mother's favorite of the bunch! thank you, very much!
Beautiful.
Lovely to see the development of the town in your video. However the songs were superb and made the whole thing a jem. Many thanks. Rmb5*
Brilliant video
I've looked high and low for 40 years with no luck. Found one Christmas album, that was good, but not the songs I was after. Good Luck!
Many thanks Bankeland.

When I saw this a while back I thought the guy was finger picking a hammered dulcimer. Is this correct?
This is dunby from mabi in real life?

I believe it's a mountain dulcimer.
I have the pic and you can have a copy. I will email it to you. All the best
