    Alright, I wasn’t sure when the theories started, but Mae’s master is absolutely Qimir. He talks like a Sith Lord, he can fight as well as a Sith Lord, he changed the subject very quickly when Mae asked if he knew the Sith’s identity, AND he disappeared from the episode right before the Sith master shows up out of nowhere and kills Kelnacca even though the master would have no way of knowing Mae betrayed him unless he was Qimir. For what it’s worth, we’re all assuming The Master is a Sith, but we don’t actually know that for sure… there’s any number of dark side wielders in Star Wars that aren’t specifically from the Sith order.
    And even if The Master does turn out to be a Sith, there’s no saying whether the Jedi will learn that or not, they could just say, “well, that was a dangerous force user, thank goodness that’s dealt with!” without finding out his true allegiance…
    It’s also worth keeping in mind, the last known confirmed appearance of verified Sith was around 900 years before this show, so while we’re used to seeing them, for these Jedi, they’re closer to being a myth, and not something they’d immediately jump to.

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great points! Yeah, the episode definitely showed the Jedi looking for any possible explanation other than a Sith. They were even willing to assume it was a rogue Jedi that trained Mae. Man, what an episode!
    As for the whole "killing a Jedi without a weapon", I really like the idea put forth by Alex, from the channel Star Wars Explained, who basically said that, because in the High Republic the Jedi Order is at the height of their power in the Galaxy, what she needs to do in order to pave the way for the eventual return of the Sith is to, metaphorically, "kill" what the Jedi care the most for: their reputation. So, in this interpretation, killing a Jedi without a weapon doesn't mean to physically kill them, but rather to "kill" their image in the public eye, maybe exposing the truth about what truly happened in the fire or something else along that line. And in fact, going back to the prequel trilogy, what eventually leads to the downfall of the Jedi is exactly a combination of the corruption within the Order and the manipulation that Palpatine is able to do on their image during the Clone Wars. This would be a perfect starting point to connect with that part of the canon.

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love that idea! And it works really well, because Mae is clearly focused on combat as the answer, when perhaps that isn't the answer. It's killing their image instead. Very good theory!

    Great analysis! I think the show is doing a great job presenting the mysteries, giving us a little bit of information at a time and keeping us intrigued and guessing. I really hope the questions are answered this season.

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah, I'm really digging the multi-faceted mystery and how they are slowly giving us answers, yet also adding more questions at the same time. If they give us the second flashback then I think we'll get alot of things answered. And I agree, I'm abit nervous about the Phantom Menace/Sith situation. If things were more contained and less Jedi knew about it, it would be easier to accept. But I also suspect they included Ki-Adi-Mundi to show that they are aware of that scene in Phantom Menace and will make it all work out. Fingers crossed!.

      @AbitofEverything4U it was a very cool story. It explained the early stages of the rule of 2, how the Jedi knew about it, and why the Jedi (falsely) believed the Sith to be fully extinct, down to the last Sith Lord. I'm sure this will resolve in a similar fashion to that story, with every Jedi who knew directly of the Sith Lord's existence dying and any with secondhand knowledge being manipulated
      All 3 audio books are on youtube (only about 2/3rds of the first book). It's one hell of a trilogy. You can tell this show is heavily informed by legends knowledge
      Not exactly informed by the timeline or bringing exact events over 1:1 to canon. but general principles and concepts introduced in legends are carrying over and being directly referenced in this show

    1. The only way the line in Phantom Menace works is if the jedi group gets killed by Qimir/Darth Venamis, OR if the survivors decide to keep it to themselves and never tell the rest of the Order. Even though Ki Adi Mundi was in the meeting here they never mentioned the Sith in fact they thought it was "one of their own" aka a Jedi or Dark Jedi. Also the jedi are hardheaded and stubborn so ofc Ki Adi Mundi wouldn't even consider the Sith here.
    2. As to how Yoda and the high Council knew about the rule of two but not that the Sith were still around well it's easy, somewhere throughout the 1000 years they probably figured this out through Sith holocrons or artifacts, but still believed that eventually they went extinct. Assuming that the acolyte prevents this Sith from being discovered by the rest of the order, it should keep canon intact.
    3. As to who "The Master" is, it's one of 6 options. The least likely is Darth Plagueis and Tenebrous. More likely than that is probably one of the Witches (Aniseya is credited for 6 episodes so likely her but Koril only credited for one so prolly not). After that my biggest theory is that it's Qimir, and my hot take is that Qimir is Darth Venamis, making his actions an attempt to overthrow Plagueis and become the only Apprentice to Tenebrous or even kill Tenebrous himself.

    It goes beyond just making sure Mundi doesn’t exactly learn that there’s a “Sith”. Remember, in TPM, the only evidence Qui-Gon gives for why he immediately (and correctly) clocks Darth Maul as a Sith is because he was trained in the Jedi arts and attacking a Jedi. At this point, since we know Mundi survives, there’s basically no way to reconcile these differences. Unless I’m missing something (always a possibility). I think the younglings that Yoda was training were using special "training" lightsabers that just light up to look like real lightsabers, but aren't actually destructive. Maybe such devices just weren't invented yet at the time of the Acolyte, so that's why they were using sticks. (This raises a general side question I've had in my mind: Do we ever really see technology advance in the Star Wars universe? The level of technology always seems about the same, no matter what time period we're seeing.)

    • @AbitofEverything4U

      Oh, that’s a cool idea… I like the idea of “training” light sabers that light up but that are otherwise harmless. And that’s a really good point about the technology. I mean, just something simple like blasters don’t seem to evolve much over the years. But then I guess if you think about it, we’re only covering a time span of around 60+ years going from 32 BBY to 35 ABY. Still though, you would expect to see some technological advances over that span of time.

    There's definitely more with Kelnacca we just don't know about yet, we'll see something more in another flashback from what I've heard, even something from a trailer, but I really don't remember.
    There's no way Qimir isn't Mae's Sith Master at this point. And as for collecting people, this is clearly stuff to get into her head, or the Sith Master actually does collect some kind of memento from other Acolytes. And when it comes to killing Jedi without a weapon, that seems very metaphorical, but also, people need to know that the Jedi can be harmed. Unfortunately though, I don't see how killing Kelnacca would help show that because he's all alone in the woods, it's not like the other two where people were around to see it.
    There is a stun setting on lightsabers, we see it at the start of the Season 2 episode of Rebels, Mystery at Chopper Base. The blades do look and sound different than what was in Attack of the Clones though. At the same time, in Young Jedi Adventures, the kids in that show do have solid blades, but they don't seem to be able to cut through anything while anyone older with their own lightsabers can actually do anything with them. The kids literally have training sabers, so at best they may be able to deflect a blaster bolt if they can't only just absorb it into their blade. Now obviously it's a preschooler show, there's no reason for
    them to be hacking anyone to pieces, but they're no older than the children with Yoda, so I think we can reasonably assume that they're working with training sabers.
    Ki-Adi-Mundi being in the show bugs me only because I don't feel like he should have been in that room. I personally like it being that he was completely in the dark about the idea of the Rule of Two, that he blindly believes that the Sith truly are extinct. Now of course, they never outright say the word in the show, there's only speculation, but I'm still not a fan of his inclusion in that scene. It doesn't break the canon (yet), but there are also just so many Jedi that are being clued into what's going on, too. If it was just the people from the first two episodes, it could be manageable, but we've got too many people learning about these killings now with speculation that it could be worse than some offshoot of the Jedi that's gone rogue.
    For me, the episode really became interesting in those last five minutes. Bazil and the Umbra Moth didn't really do anything for me, but I do like the grunty, growly dude that Jecki's taking to. Sometimes the pulp works, sometimes it don't, and unfortunately a lot of this episode was just a miss. I do like that Mae's losing interest in her task, the reason she's doing anything is void to her, and then the Sith Master just floating down like Dooku in the Clone Wars Microseries was rad.
    I'm curious to see just who makes it out of the following fight alive. It could easily be another flashback episode, but I'd say probably another week from now. We really need to know what happened 16 years ago, and there is the potential that with Mae turning away from the Sith, that Osha may actually be turning toward the Sith depending on what happens and if she gets the full story of what happened.

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great commentary as always. I'm with you in your concern about so many Jedi knowing about the situation. If it were more contained, it would be easier to accept that scene in Phantom Menace. But I also suspect they included Ki-Adi-Mundi to show that they are aware of that scene and will make it all work out. Fingers crossed!. And I like your theory that Mae turns good while Osha starts to turn bad. That would be a wild twist!

      @@AbitofEverything4U I wouldn't have thought about the Mae and Osha heel turns without Star Wars Explained and some of the other people watching their livestreams. It's an interesting thought because if Sol knows everything that happened, and then tells Osha, she'll feel betrayed. Mae only wanted revenge that no longer matters because Osha is alive, but Osha was kept in the dark about what happened to everyone, and if the Jedi are responsible, her inability to let go of her grief will grow toward hatred.

      I can understand your sentiment. The writing has been abit stiff at times. I remember not liking Qui Gon Jin and Obi Wan's portrayal in TPM due to how subdued they were. It took most of the movie for me to finally care about them. @@AbitofEverything4U The Indara angle needs to be explored more. I always revisit the first major scene when watching or reading mysteries. I think we've already seen the face of the Master, and it would be one of the earlier characters.
      1. The "killing" of Indara is in a public space, and the show makes a big deal about witnesses (the bartender in particular). This could have been part of the set up for a fake murder.
      2. The Master meets Mae afterwards. This is still on the same planet of Ueda. How was the "body" of Indara handled? This is not seen, except that some of the people in the noodle shop may have been in on the plan and maybe the body was swapped. Who was Indara talking to on her communicator, when referencing the "force user"? This could have been a code for her accomplices to get ready for a body swap. There would have been time for Indara to get into position to meet Mae later on Ueda. Note the conspicuous use of the red light sabre-- we saw Indara's light sabre on the floor. One person with two light sabres? A possible part of the deception.
      3. Indara effortlessly floats upwards in the fight scene in Episode 1. The "Master" floats down at the end of Episode 4.
      4. Indara uses the force to stop someone from falling. We don't know where Indara was during the fire (Kelnacca and Torbin look like they've gone berserk in the trailers, and we only otherwise see Sol). Perhaps Indara saved Mae from the fall using the Force.
      5. We see the testing of Osha in the ship, but Mae was tested earlier, and presumably lied to fail the test. Indara may have seen through this, and decided that Mae would be someone to "collect" as part of some long game. The witch coven needed to be removed, and the other Jedi would need to keep the secret of what happened, which Indara could use against them without them knowing her plan. Note how Torbin went through a decline over time, becoming a Master but then not able to live with his secret and taking the Barash Vow and went silent for 10 years. Kelnacca was stationed on Khofar but disappeared into the forest over a year ago. Indara doesn't seem to be in any distress-- she's on some remote planet, perhaps helping her work in the shadows as the Master.
      6. How to kill a Jedi without a weapon? Maybe the theory of "killing" a Jedi by destroying a reputation begins with how to kill the innocent, well-meaning Sol. Note the scene where Sol says he will reveal everything to Osha-- a line usually said by someone who will soon die before revealing things. He doesn't have to physically die-- he just has to be put in a position were no one will believe him because his reputation will be destroyed.

    I'm not bothered by whether or not Legends material is canonized. It's not like Mundi's age was declared in one of the movies. I have no issue with his presence either, because he may never even know about the Sith practitioners. Maybe Mundi can't see what is right in front of him just like he can't in the prequels. I welcome him because he speaks to the overconfidence that contributed to the Jedi order's collapse, given that we are now witnessing the origins of that decay in Acolyte..
    I would be more than happy with Qimir being the masked dark side user, As this video mentions, his scenes with Mae are a dark parallel to Yoda's playful yet creepy deceit of Luke on Dagobah. Still, I have my suspicions about Koril. I don't recall seeing her dead body in the third episode of this series. Whatever Qimir turns out to be, Manny Jacinto's performance is unreal. The performance seems to be flying under the radar to some extent, but I see it as equal to Lee Jung jae's Sol.
    The Sith practitioner's eerie descent in the final scene of this episode felt like something straight out of a Universal horror movie.

      As for Koril, I agree, I don't think we saw her body and I think she's a very likely candidate for the Sith/dark side user. Either way, Qimir really did bring it with his acting this episode. Dude was messing with Mae's head big time!

    15:43 Can't you see how that in of itself is just cynical, it's these people, Disney basically just choosing what they want to take from "Legends" and make their CANON. I mean it's like James Gunn, choosing to decanonize everything he doesn't want from the DCU, except only HIS stuff, like "Peacekeeper". Did they really need to use Ki Adi-Mundi here!? Why couldn't they have simply used Yaddle?? She's already a fairly mysterious character.
    the fact Lucasfilm and Leslie Headland's story group specifically chose to bring Ki Adi-Mundi in this show knowing full well what he says in Ep1, really kind of shows us these people running the *Star Wars* franchise today are actively trying to do the opposite to what us fans like, they're trying to spite us, and throw things in our face; like almost dictating to us exactly what they deem *Canon*.
    Way to pi** off Fans and alienate them. Meanwhile look at the writers at Amazon who worked on the recent "Fallout" live-action series. Just look at how much they cared about that lore from the games, and the attention and detail they put in to bring that world alive and feel exactly like the Fallout games. See the positive reaction and huge praise that show got from fans and the audience in general?
    It's not hard, stop messing around with the lore, and changing, twisting it into whatever you want it to be!? Hey guess what!? Leslie Headland, Pablo Hidalgo, Justina Ireland, Krystina Arrielle, KATHLEEN KENNEDY! these people running starwars right now won't be here forever; eventually they will ALL leave, one by one and move onto other things. But guess who will still be here, supporting the *Star Wars* Franchises that's right -
    US FANS!!!

      Very good commentary on the canon situation. I definitely hear what you are saying and I understand your concerns. But I do think the frustration fans are having can really be aimed first at Lucasfilm for creating the tiered canon hierarchy in the early 2000's. I had forgotten about this, but here is a nice summary of how Lucasfilm handled things years prior to the sale of the IP over to Disney:
      In January 2000, Lucasfilm hired Leland Chee to create an internal database for Lucas Licensing's Publishing department, called the "Holocron." The database replaced the "bibles"[14] tracking and organizing all the fictional elements created for the Star Wars universe, making up a hierarchical system listing different levels of canon. The database had a canon field for each individual entry and for sources. "G" canon referred to George Lucas' canon, initially made up only of the six Star Wars movies and unpublished internal notes from him or the movie production department. "C" canon, referring to continuity, consisted all licensed properties, thus including most of the Expanded Universe, whereas "S" canon, with the "S" standing for "secondary," encompassed works that were created before Lucasfilm strived to maintain an internal consistency within the Expanded Universe. "N" canon meant "non-continuity", used only in the case of blatant contradiction.
      So it was really Lucas himself that set the stage for de-canonizing prior materials and opening the door for retconning things they didn't like. Personally, I don't have big issue with Mundi's age being retconned as that was never mentioned in a movie and was only in some promotional material that even Lucas didn't seem to consider canon.
      On the other hand, I am expecting that the series finds a way to address why the Jedi were unaware of the return of the Sith. I feel that nothing up to this point, including Mundi being present, has created any issues for the scene in Phantom Menace. The Jedi all assume that it was a rogue Jedi that trained Mae, not a Sith. However, I will be closely watching to see how they handle the remaining 4 episodes and if they do end up creating canon issues with TPM's scene, then I'll be very upset for sure.
      Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your feedback on the canon situation. I truly do appreciate it!

    • @RaikenXion
      @RaikenXion หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@AbitofEverything4U I do agree, I mean even though George was trying hard to accommodate many fans of the overall "EU Lore", he did only end up making it all more kinda convoluted and confusing in the long run; However, Disney have done themselves no favors because when they made ALL EU stuff "Legends" and promised their *Canon* would be 100% Consistent throughout, they havn't even been able to stick to what they said they would do.
      Look at their Ahsoka novel compared to Ahsoka's story overall now. Or issues of young Kanan during the Clone wars and his master, Filoni retconned somethings there for his Bad Batch show. Cobb Vanth and how he acquires Fett's armor in the Aftermath novels; changed up slightly in the Mandalorian series.
      these are just a few examples of the inconsistency within "Disney Starwars" own Canon. And they're setting themselves up for some much bigger questions Filoni and the Lucasfilm story group are one day going to have to answer further down the line concerning the sequel trilogy.
      Look at the recent novel "Shadow of the Sith" and the Darth Vader Comic issue: prt VI where Vader goes to Exegol. their story group don't even bother to explain that whole thing of Luke & Lando on a quest trying to find the Sith Eternal on Exegol, Luke needing a wayfinder and how Anakin never even appears to help guide him - "Luke my son, you must go to the Mustafar System. there you will find a wayfinder sitting on a plinth outside in the garden of my old castle back when I was Vader."
      And Filoni seems to spend alot of focus on Ani and "snips" even in his Ahsoka show, yet how is he going to handle whether Anakin actually helps his own son, during his low moment of weakness, regards his own student Ben Solo, when he was weak and strolled into Ben's hut carrying his green lightsaber to peer into Ben's mind while he was asleep!?
      It's issues like this why I don't even take the "Disney starwars canon" serioriously. Give me the *Expanded Universe* any day; I don't even refer to it as "Legends".

    • @AbitofEverything4U
      @AbitofEverything4U  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RaikenXion Yep, great points. I am surprised by how many things Filoni has changed. The Ahsoka novel retcon was really surprising as he said that Tales of the Jedi didn't change anything in it, but clearly it did. My bigger point was just that Lucasfilm started the ball rolling in the "let's set stuff aside that we don't like" train even when Lucas himself was in change and unfortunately Lucasfilm under Disney has then taken it even further. I don't like it but I've come to accept it is inevitable to some extent. I will say, however, that if they don't address things in the Acolyte so that the Phantom Menace Mundi line still makes sense, then I will be very annoyed. But changing Mundi's age from something that was never canonized outside of the CD-ROM material doesn't bother me as much.

    • @RaikenXion
      @RaikenXion หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @AbitofEverything4U It bothers me because I see it as those specifically chose Mundi cause he's the one who says that line in TPM. They know they could have easily had any other long lived Jedi character like Yaddle or Yarrell Poof yet they didn't. At this point I'm just seeing most things Lucasfilm/Disney do is to spite us fans.
      Also I'm beginning to believe that Pablo Hidalgo and the story group secretly despite us fans, especially the ones who have serious extensive knowledge of the lore, and know most every detail or event. Pablo definite does because on the past he was always snarly to fans, and has a ego where he really sees himself as this "Lore Master" lol. This is why he and the others keep doing what they do.
      Like I said the Fallout show writers even Peter Jackson's people respected the lore. But today most these Modern Writers have no respect for Source Material; they seek to delete the past, and force their modern crap down everyone's throats.
      The only Disney starwars I consider Canon is Seasons 1 & 2 of the Mandalorian and Rogue One that's it.

      Good questions. So her 180 turn started the moment she saw Osha was alive at the end of episode 2. I think Mae had made the deal with her Master because it allowed Mae to get revenge on the Jedi she believed killed her sister. Thus, with her sister alive, she had no reason to keep her deal.
      As for Qimir, I suspect she was worried he would try to stop her, which he did certainly attempt to do. So Mae had no choice but to tie him up. But I suspect Mae knew that either Qimir could get out on his own, or after she turned herself in, she would have returned to Qimir to have him taken in by the Jedi.
