  • This is continuing a three day whirlwind trip driving from my home in Bucharest, Romania, to Serbia, into Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, back into Serbia, then home. Was just a trip to source out a few things and to have an initial look at three new countries. I will go back later for sure to have a more in depth look.
This episode is driving out of Belgrade about 115kms or 1hour and 45mins due West, toward the border crossing at Batrovci on the Serbian aide and crossing into Croatia via Bajakovo on their side.
Pretty easy process, standard questions and no issues. Croatian border police guy was very cool, lots of info and friendly and a gentle reminder of 1000 Euro fine if transit time exceeded 12 hours for me. Given I am a UK passport holder and not in the EU anymore, UK citizens can only enter as 12 hour transit persons at the moment. I could have shown my Romanian residence permit which changes things but only needed a couple of hours.
Still a few restrictions in place for Croatia country wise and you need a PCR or Rapid test or vaccination certificate. The site I consistently use for border conditions etc and entry for the world is the IATA website by Timatic www.iatatravel...
So this part is just entering Croatia and going about 9kms up the highway to the first petrol station to refuel and get a SIM card. Given countries are in and out of the EU or Schengen, roaming and roaming fees etc can become an issue and expensive! If you are going EU to EU or #Schengen member, then roaming is ok for a limited time, normally a couple of days and about 15gb of data use before you start getting slugged. I still find it easier to stop and buy a cheap SIM in each country and takes 5mins to swap out and activate.
After refuelling the trip continued about another 40kms East and then South and into #Bosnia - Herzegovina. I will post that in the next video.
    Cheers guys and stay safe.
