I want to thank you as another female farmer for taking the time to explain and shoot this video! I have the same bed maker and your video helped me. From one woman to another, I am so impressed with your natural understanding of how equipment works and goes together!

Thank you @Barney Betelueuse = ) I cannot wait to use this thing again this year! I had so much fun I posted several videos from when I used it. Not so great as a solo project, but it gets the job done...even quicker with some help = ) Happy Farming!

I am looking at purchasing a Berry Hill RB-448 this year and I noticed you chose the stainless steel hopper. What are your thoughts about the hopper? did you use it and was it as effective as you thought. From what I gather its more for the advantage of laying down fertilizer during your mulch laying pass. I usually fertilize my soil and then hip up my rows with a row hipper. But my question is do you consider it to be an advantage or would you have left it off now that your much more knowledgeable about your farming skills. A friend of mine is fertilizing down the drip tape with compost tea and that is a huge benefit under the mulch layer!
So glad your doing well and have decided to grow hemp again this 2020! I'm sure everyone will be watching, I know I will.

I think you will love the unit @Shane Kittman! Awesome! I think I'm up in the air about the fertilizer hopper. I did use it, but it didn't drop as much as I would have expected...NOTE...this was likely my error. The crank wheel comes with two different drive sprockets. I just used the one already in place (smaller). I probably should have used the larger one. I'm not dropping fertilizer again before I lay the mulch, so if I can get it to work the way I want it will certainly be a time and sweat equity saver. I believe it was $500 extra for the hopper. Thanks for the confidence boost...I think I know about nothing LOL It's fun to learn though. Farming is so awesome! I did use compost tea, cal-mag (both in a the feeder), and top dressed the plants (have several other videos about this). The top dressing was still fresh when I harvested, so I'm not sure how helpful this was in the end. Let me know how it goes and if you post any videos on your crop! Happy Farming!!

the hopper works great . We used a powdered organic mix , we set the sprockets to max out put , it laid out almost perfectly . You have to watch the hopper a little bit.

We have the same implement and have problems with the plastic tearing along the edge or coming out from under the wheels. Any help?

I’m not sure about the tearing…if the outer edge of the roll is damaged or if it is tearing from the implement. The first season I had to make several adjustments to the tilt of the wheel and the stabilizing wings (wings were tearing the mulch). The tilt of the wheel made all the difference. The second season I made sure to do a better job with the plow and till to break up as much dirt as possible to hill under the unit. It helped with the entire operation. Still had to make adjustments, but it helped a lot. I love this implement! Happy Farming!!
