Travel with us on the 495 Express Lanes using a NEW flyover ramp on the right side of I-66.
The new ramp is located about one mile after the Nutley Street exit. You will see signs on I-66 that say “TOLL, TO 495 EXPRESS LANES, USE 66 EXPRESS LANES, NEXT EXIT” and then “TOLL, EXPRESS LANES ENTRANCE.”
This is one of the biggest scams ever on I-66 Express Mobility Partners part. As even shown in this video, you're paying very often an additional $2 just to go barely a mile within the I-66 express lanes to get to the I-495 express lanes. If ramps from the general purpose lanes of I-66 to the I-495 express lanes were constructed, or if I-66 EMP would just _lower_ _their_ _rates_ to reasonable levels, commuters would save _so_ much money daily. It's extremely frustrating.
These express lanes in general are a scam. They often use public money to build and then use private companies to manage the road and collect the tolls. So the residents of Virginia pay for a road that most can't even afford to take regularly and especially when they need it the most because the price is jacked up so ridiculously high. The only thing that is good about them is that they are free for motorcycles. And while I wish that that fact was an incentive for more people to ride motorcycles decreasing traffic in general it's not going to happen. Just a way for well off people to not have to sit in traffic with regular people.
