Tbh I think the quality isn't that bad, especially if you consider that the youtube video is compressed. I think ISO 1000 had the best looking results. And in the clip with the ships I think 5,0 actually looked way better and matched the time of day. I mean for a ~500$/€ camera it certainly looks awesome. That's the reason I bought mine.
I know exactly what you mean, First Media - Hamilton Ontario. My Low Light experiences with the FZ300 are more less terrible. Its always out of focus and blurry. I always see videos and stuff from other people, saying that they did that with their FZ300, and I just don't know how. Any detailed description what settings were used (all) to get this kinda footage ? Any help is appreciated.
I totally agree with you... I have bought this camera a week ago and now I'm testing around and try some things out. But I also noticed: I have the same issues, as you explained, no matter, which options I choose. I hope, that somebody knows a solution to this problem. But I guess, that one of those colour grading options are causing such problems. Maybe the noise reduction tries to remove the colour noise, but when it's performing that, it will "destroy" the details in the picture. But even with noise reduction -5, it's not the same as the result in this video. I mean, the low light test in this video look's amazing! :) But my camera can't reproduce that, unfortunately... Also the ghosting effect is not that nice, if you're using 4k.
I thought it would be much worse since I see a lot of people complain about the sensor size and how the camera isn’t good in low light, very impressive little camera.
Pretty impressive video! I'm not sure how you achieved this at 4k f/2.8, 1/50 sec. I've found that anything shot 4k in lowlight produces a terrible motion-blur, ghosting like effect that doesn't go away no matter how I tinker with it. It gets worse as you raise the ISO or reduce shutter speed. Perhaps your scene is better lit than it seems. Having the water there with all the light bouncing off of it probably helps a little. For 3 weeks I have been trying to find the low light sweet spot for this camera and have tried nearly every possible combination of settings. I get much better results shooting in 1080p at 30fps or 60fps and I try not to go above ISO 600 to avoid too much image degradation. I also drop shutter speed to 1/30 sec to get that extra light coming into the sensor. I have -1 on highlights and +3 shadows but that might not be the best configuration depending on what you're going for. With a simple light bouncing off the ceiling or a wall, I've been able to get some half decent nighttime video indoors with these settings. I use a cheap portable work light and some colored plastic sheets to provide ambient lighting in the room. I also have some push button LED lights I can place strategically for accent lighting or just an extra light source.
Considering it is an inexpensive camera with a tiny sensor, it seems very capable at iso 800. If more light is needed, one can always slow down the shutter speed.
Saludos.
Can you change the lens on the FZ300? Would this be worth buying for film making? Mainly gunna e doing videos. I currently have Canon T6 but i need a better camera for videos on a budget price
Just in case you don't know by now. No, you can' change the lens. It's a bridge camera. The lens is permanantly installed. As for the video capabilities, it does have 4K video, if that's important. Plus it has a flip screen. It has a small sensor, but as you can see, it's a capable camera.
Love the video- short and to-the-point! Did you color grade the footage at all? Also, have you experimented with picture profile at all (Cinelike D or V or Standard, Natural, etc) and found you like one over the other?
25 fps is when camera is on PAL settings, 30 fps is when camera is on NTSC settings. Switching option between PAL/NTSC mode usually is not in video settings but deeper in camera's menu. This prevents you from accidentally shooting some videos in PAL and some in NTSC because then it might cause you some problems in editing
Hello, I hope and you can help me, buy the camera fz300 and in the low light condition, record the video in the black areas as if that area was covered, and in the day record very well soin problem, that this problem should be already I see that your video mostly has a lot of black areas, and the video does not look like that, there is probably something in the settings to record at night Thank you in advance for your attention
Ervīns Elliņš If there is a lot of noise I don't think it's actually ISO100. Even if you set the FZ300 to ISO100, the camera will often record with a different ISO setting (depending on the dial mode).
1element I'm testing my camera in full manual (M) and I can't get my head around why my footage looks so bad apart from your video sample. ISO 100 / 1080 @ 24 / cined / shutter 50 f 2.8
Ervīns Elliņš I'm always using the "4k photo mode" to record videos, as this is the only mode that shows you the exactly settings the camera is using during recording. I'm not sure about the other modes, but as far as I remember the camera is sometimes using different settings as soon as you press the record button (even if the preview shows something completely different).
Dont buy this camera, it has noise all time even daylight shadows, only sunlight helps because of tiny senser from 2012 fotos are shit, only video oke, just oke!
Wow. I thought it would be much worse because many people complained about it in their reviews. But it looks fine to me.
the same. i was looking at the gx85, nikon b700 and this one. This is probably a good inexpensive one that can fit my budget.
i thought the same but its really not that bad at all
I suspect the constant f2.8 aperture helps. Very impressive.
@@r4mps Agreed the camera is absolute trash
@@r4mps ok gettin the fz1000 now
Beautiful images even under low illumination.
DMC-FZ300 is great spec.
Very nice test report.Thanks!

I don't know why I keep coming back here to listen to the music. It sounds so amazing through my headphones.
Thought this camera was supposed to not be good in low light. Guess those people who said that were wrong. It looked pretty damn good to me.
Seriously? That's why I didn't buy it... because they said it wasn't good in low light!
@@randigrainger3285 It's very bad in low light with motion
looks really great up to 800, with a tripod should look flawless. OIS works fine too.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks... just what I needed to decide if I want to buy it. Needed to see low light.
Mind explaining how did you set up the camera to get this look? Wonderful video!
Thanks for sharing. I now had an idea how will this perform in low light.
Glad that it was helpful for you.
my low light footage doesnt seem to come out this way,. mine comes out blurry and major grainy, any ideas?

As far as I remember it was manual focus mode.

Hey, got this camera as well, i just got 24 frames and 25 frames when choosing 4k. How did you got to record 4k with 30 frames ?
Racoen X I used the 4K photo mode to record video. This will give you 30fps.
Mit 1/30 sec auf Stativ dringt man noch weiter in die Nachaufnahme ein.

No you didn't. 4K photo mode gives you 4:3 aspect ratio. This video is recorded in 16:9.
Good video. But some night scene is bit dark, may need to up the iso 3200 -6400 for the small sensor.
