You forget to put the video where you run a short burst and your gun sways to the wind like your left nut is playing johnny be good. That is the dumbest shit I have ever seen a game. It’s got top tier potential if they just tweak the movement input. If the game had similar movement mechanics as Squad it would be the king hands down. Still love it tho.
It kinda saddens me. The fact that I don’t have a PC, I’m practically missing out on the coolest shit in gaming...
My first console was an Xbox One. Consoles are cool and have their advantages, but I definitely prefer a PC. Arma 3 is still poorly optimized even on modern PCs but has low requirements to be able to play.

I love military games and Arma 3 is certainly my favorite. I decided to make a second video showing how Arma is sometimes true to reality (and sometimes not...) in addition to showing a real-world reference for the development of a future Arma 4.

You know what’s crazy. Bohemia was supposed to be an Xbox company since they made releases like OP dragon but Microsoft didn’t want to bring them in with top studios then like bungie and unityInc so instead they transitioned to PC. Always makes me want to upgrade but, I am too poor :(

yep. To add to the video, you only see soo much because the camera filming the even has A LOT less sensitivity to light set in than your eyes would have. You'd be flash blind for a minute plus if you were to look at the detonation point when it happened, worse still in the night (dilated pupils, even more light coming in - would probably result in prompt retina burns and permanent blindness)

Unless you've seen a nuclear explosion yourself (as 99.99% of people alive haven't) you cannot comprehend just how powerful a nuke really is. Everything we see in movies and such is just "guessing" and "hollywoodizing" of them. A real nuclear explosion is unimaginably violent, almost to the point where words can't tell. All the "dive under your desk and cover your head" videos and stuff they did in the 60's in the event of nuclear war was to placate the people. But it wouldn't have helped at all. Just look at the declassified atomic bomb tests on AtomCentral. Castle Bravo is one of my personal favorites. It's absolutely awe inspiring.

yeah, for the most part because Bohemia interactive actually develops military sims to be used in real training. They even got a contract in 2019 from the British army for this and to look into the possibility of using vr and machine learning

Not necessarily hard to simulate, it’s just a bit too taxing on current gen PCs to make it worth it. More performance efficient solutions have been found though, like in Teardown which seems to be capable of almost any next gen rendering technique on moderate hardware.

It's not that it's "hard to simulate". It can be simulated reasonably well enough. What it does do however is WRECK your FPS. Actually simulating proper dust and stuff like that is incredibly taxing on a computer from a calculation standpoint.
My physics teacher said it once, if you were to drop a piece of paper and let it flutter in the wind, to actually calculate all those motions would take even the most powerful supercomputers weeks, if not months to do so.

As someone who just graduated 19D osut I’m just gonna say this. The arma game is so realistic that we used the bohemian interactive engine to simulate call for fire missions and javelin practice.
Well Bohemia also has a simulator for the checz military ... just google "BISIM"

ArmA is lacking in Smoke and Particle Effects department but I get it with the engine
It's just really hard to simulate and do correctly.
i believe there are mods that improve how the game looks (not sure on this but lets be honest every game has those), the downside ofc will be the high af pc requirements and smoke will give you the disadvantage when fighting other players
Although it does not look so realistic, the smoke effects are totally dynamic. Try flying with a helicopter over a burning car, the smoke will spread and this is not seen in almost any game :)

The ship gun is just scary. The game sound is such a generic 0,1 sec sound. But real one is like a rising sound which gets more intense
Thats most likely because the real one isnt recorded very well. To record such a loud sound you would have to use a microphone capable of doing it, or somehow dampen the sound enough for the mic.
Incase yall dont know what clipping is, it means when the recording device is trying to record a sound thats way too loud for its input capability. (earrapes on youtube are usually software induced clipping. good audio design doesnt have any clipping... movies, music etc.)
For example i have a mic that has these specs:
Maximum Input Sound Level 144 dB SPL, 1 kHz at 1% T.H.D.
If you go over that... it wont be able to record the sound crisp clear. :P
Idk if the arma gun is a real recording or not... its not the same gun either, just similar design. (most vehicles and even guns are fictional but designed to replicate real life counterparts)

Man, the real nukes are still infinitely more awesome.
Only game I ever played that captured the true horror and awesomeness of a mushroom cloud was Call of Duty 4 back in the day. I think part of it was that the mission was unprecedented in gaming, and the only game I think that was before that which was also matched with hushed horror as you watched helplessly was in Quake 4 when you witness being turned into a Strogg in full 1st POV grisliness.
The nuke scene in cod4 is amazing! But we have to remember that it is a scripted scene and in Arma it is a weapon that can be used by the player in any scenario. It is also necessary to remember that the nuke in Arma was made by fans :)
@@leonardoetc3565 Oh, I'm well aware of that. It is pretty impressive for a fan-made feature. I was just speaking of the emotional/psychological impact, from an art and story perspective. I definitely get it's not even fair to compare the two from a technical application perspective as one is effectively dynamic while the other as you said is a scripted event with many restrictions placed on the player so they can only see what the developer wants them to see.

I play arma 3 allot and one of the things that drew me to it b4 i even go steam was that in spite of some of its short comings (like not being able to vault or often being too unforgiving) is that they give you the freedom to bridge any gaps through mods. Like i have a halo, star wars the clone wars, warhammer 40k, rappelling and vaulting mod just to name a few and honestly i love being able to do almost anything in this game

A3TI si a mod that segnificantly improves vehicle based thermal systems to be closer-to-real (and just more ufeull in the process). Blastcore, JSRS, Dynasound2, & Enhanced soundscape all help with SFX and VFX.

It is impresive to me.that small country like czech republic make this game .. looooong development with help from fans . No big publishers no nothing . Small team of peaple 😅 and they are developing also simulator for armies them selfs basically arma 3 with some tweeks . Training taktics and more . Thats just so cool to me . Dude, very cool idea. My advice to you - try to use JSRS and Blastcore for more similar sound and explosions effects, it will make game footage even more accurate!
In the video I am using ArmaFXP, I have used blastcore in the past and the explosions seemed too exaggerated and with weird smoke... Maybe I used an old version.

Title is kind of misleading... Most of the stuff you showed from Arma 3 are actually from mods which means they would look a lot cooler if Bohemia made the content by themselves.

That's why I quit this game. Also there is no pvp milsim on a daily basis. People just play KOTH and RPG.
Yep... you either have aimbot hacker style AI that clip you in the dome from 3.5k with a pistol, or you have "call of duty" guards who allow you to walk right up to them and stab them in the back.

How were you able to keep a decent framerate on the nuke?
first, I was away from the cities. Second, I reduced the distance of view of the objects (You can see that there are no trees on the hills nearby) What reduces the fps to 1 is the destruction of buildings and trees, it is not the effect of the explosion itself.

Hearing/seeing the real nuke explosion is really scary and thought-provoking.
The Real MIG29 is shooting an R73(heat seeker, close range) while the Arma3 is shooting an R27 ET (radar, extended range). You can tell from the "73" on the real mig in the bottom right corner of the HUD. While on the Arma3 mig is written "273P". After that they switched to cannon, you can tell from the burst and from the square with "4" in the middle on the bottom right corner of the hud.
"4" means 4/4 of ammo. It goes down to 1 until it's empity
Very interesting details! Mig29 is an incredible aircraft!, I would like to have a footage like this from the Su-57 but I doubt I can find it :)
The fact that look and sound design are soo good in most cases is a testament to how good this game is. Except the brrt. that sound needs work.

What arma 3 needs work on is the close up textures

For the nuke you lose all your Frames
But for the RL nuke you lose your will to live

For smoke simulations they should remember to add turbulence and swirl
I remember watching an article about the war in the middle east or something (it was decently long ago so forgive my bad memory) and they actually mistook ARMA 3 gameplay with actual real life warfare. Dunno how long till they got corrected though, was pretty funny at the time.
Correction: I think it was that anti-missile weapons system on the destroyers. (Big Gatling Gun for a lack of a better term)
