Took my used 930i out today for the first time, I was using 24g fibres and it jammed more than it cycled in various manners, sometimes it would not eject the empty shell, sometimes it would but then not cycle the new cartridge into the chamber which then got stuck in the breach and then sometimes the new cartridge would come out of the magazine but not up into the chamber but would get stuck under the gate! I put some 28g fibres through it and it was the same. Both cartridges are 70mm and the chamber is for up to 3 inches, disappointed doesn’t come close! I read so many good things about this gun and it’s inertia system being able to cycle lighter loads but mine doesn’t even cycle 28’s for more than 40-50% of the time! Any ideas Jonny?
An interesting field modification. But it might be difficult to carry out if you haven't done it before slogging three miles out over the marshes and ending up nipple-deep in the boggy ditch from hell!!!
So Breda need to supply it with 2 springs really then? Or you do the sensible thing and use a 3” gun for clays and use this for field hunting only. 😃 Looking forward to your shooting show reviews 😎😎😎
One interesting way to fix it if rather obvious. Now how about Jonny getting busy on a sort of bolt action mechanism in the buttstock of that Breda to compress or decompress the recoil spring as needed.
So tell me, what is the reason for 3.5" shells? I tried 3" in my benelli and besides costing twice of 2.75", they didnt pattern any better and the velocity was lower with much added recoil-
US has a ban on lead for migratory bird. Before tungsten and bismuth were viable options 3.5” steel was the standard in nontoxic shot especially for large birds like geese for shots over 40 yards. Steel is still king here for cost reasons, hence the demand for 3.5” chambering.
Henrik Johansson in a nut shell here in the US guys that use them don’t know how to properly finish geese when they’re decoying . Just spend sometime and figure out what ammo and aftermarket choke tube your gun likes and use 3” or even 2 3/4”. With my benelli I just use the chokes that came with the gun.
Edward Sabo that’s not really the whole story, if you knew much about steel shot you’d know there are limitations to how much choke you can use before you damage the barrel. If it makes you feel better, go with it you do you.
Henrik Johansson heavier payload for longer shots. Steel loses energy much faster than lead so more pellets on target at range for less lost game. Also you can opt for lighter loads. You can get higher velocities from a gun chambered in 3.5 vs 3 with the same payload. Turkey hunting. Recoil is personal. Either it affects you or it doesn’t but in the end it’s user preference. I’m not recoil sensitive.
@@tgsoutdoors thankyou very much, really appreciated. In the market to get a semi-auto. Do you have any videos on your recommendations for the best semi auto on the market?
Had a grizzly had major cycling issues a semi should fire as the instructions in the manual or stamped on the barrel found a sbe 2 lightly used and traded it in might buy one again Ha tricked you I’ll buy a sbe 3
Well done to VA and Breda for being up front and offering practical advice!
Would a better option for the spring be a spacer/ washer system to interchange when shooting light/ heavy loads?
I’ve an old Breda Altair that I’ve used 21g 7.5 and 56g no.1 in 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Will it still cycle 3.5 inch cartridges after you cut the spring?
Probably but it will beat the gun up from inside
It'll probably cycle but the bolt velocity is going to be rather high, and you'll end up with damage as it hammers against the back of the action.
Will it hurt if I use a 3.5” in after cutting the spring ?

enjoyed the vid , well done
I love your videos and your presentation. But may i ask you to do a video about 5 double barrel on budget for the fields
All love from Lebanon ♥️
My benelli m2 will cycle 21gram loads how many intertia driven guns will is that !
Bit of a brutal field mod Jonny! - fun to watch though 🤣😍

Grendel Grendelson Hahahaha! Sorry, but that was hilarious!!

What's the point - buy a Franchi affinity instead. Mine cycled everything.

When lead is eventually banned the 3.5 steel will come into its own..

TGS Outdoors ok thanks just might be a bit short for me in the stock that’s all
Did this to an old rem1100 and opened the gasports
Still wouldnt run 24g
Funny that! My one cycles 21 g

Why not just buy a Stoeger 3500?
Just buy a Benelli. Problem solved.
These look like a benelli sbe 1 clone
