this will be my 1st season without my old cocker he was a true master at woodcock had my 1st right and left with him almost 10 years ago watching this brought back some amazing memories
The American woodcock was the first game I've ever shot. They really are something special. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend trying ruffed grouse and woodcock hunting in the American north woods. It's definitely hard going, with cover so dense you can hardly swing a gun, but it's heart pounding and incredibly rewarding.
There really is nothing better. Here in Ohio our Ruffed Grouse are all but gone. But we still get the woodcock come down from Canada for a couple weeks every year. Love it. And they really are in the thickest stuff. Many times I have had a dog on point and heard the bird flush but it was so thick I never saw the bird or the dog lol.
@@programmatic93 still got to find it. Still got to hit it. Still got to harvest it. Especially something like a woodcock. Not denying your point as the big “private property keep out” sign kind of gives it away but still got to go find it. You could say the same about rabbits in a field.
I just remember, but it's such a long Time ago.... Can tell you the name anymore, I Lost the brochure of these nice families that where proposing a mukki, a loghome for you to stay in during the weekend, roebucks in velvet to shoot from deerstand, and these trophies are huge, and.... Woodcocks behind Welsh spaniels ! Wonderful working dogs! The Alands islands ARE such a Great place, 1992 IS a Long Time ago! Thanks Again for letting us be part of the moments !
Dear Monsieur Jonny, I didn't know that WE share that much of one of the n'est expérience : rough shooting behind some cocker spaniels using 410! I didn't have Eley ammunitions when I was still in France (Brittany and Normandy ARE very good woodcocks migration grounds) and any one critter that you got make you feel like Saint Hubert, Saint of the hunters and shooters ! I miss my little Cathy, cocker spaniel, that was such a wonderful dog. I Switch to double pointing dog combinaiton, a Gordon Setter and a special French spaniel, the Blue Picardy! Very complementary together and a warning delay of the point to get ready. I had from 1999-2002, the same breeds of dogs to hunt in the South West of Finland and the Alands islands in the middle of the Baltic... Wonderful Time when the migration starts end of octobre - november AT the edge of the Falling snow. If you are invited don't hésitate, Lapland IS also Great for all the grouses, ptarmigans, cappercailles, ducks and geese around the lakes.... Thanks for sharing all these Moments with your Friend, marvellous vidéo ! (My 410 IS a beat UP italian over/under that can't stand to be compare with the two wonderful ones of yours,!/
do look again just as paul shoots the last hen a woodcock gets up and flys to the right !! , have shot loads of woodcock through the years , great sport !!
Love this content another great video. walked up small gauge with a friend and dogs hunting the most fabulous quarry. every woodcock fantastic memory. Those hull high pheasant. 3 inch sixes are superb cartridges really clean kills the best 410 cartridge Of all trying to get hold of some now just cartridges haven’t got any bugger really looking forward to your RFM Film
Wonderful! Two of my favorite people on TH-cam. Thank you so much for this film. Quail with my 28 bore are my favorite bird here in the states. It is just plain fun watching you guys chasing your favorite with a sub gauge.
Any Game shooting is a must with a SXS 👍 Unless you’re on big load day Walk up shoot is so enjoyable and exceptional exercise Great content as always TGS 👍
So as an American, we do not have the traditional hunting attire that you wear in the states. I would love to see a brief rundown on your tradition hunt clothing you wear. The plus 2’s or plus 4’s and the caps, shirt tie and jacket, the whole set.
Those Eurasian Woodcock look to be about 3 times larger than our American ones. They have those longer wings as well. They must be something else to try and clip. I saw a previous mentioned comment about you folks trying the Ruffed Grouse and the American Woodcock. I highly encourage you guys to give it a try. Be well conditioned for it, as it is a tough work out. Maine, Minnesota, Michigan, and Wisconsin are the state's I'd head to for the best opportunities for a successful hunt. I really enjoy your program. Thanks
Great video, How many woodcock did you shoot ,If you Google 14 things brits living in the USA miss most about the UK there is a photo of you wearing a union jack t shirt, 👍.
Amazingly entertaining and wonderfully filmed, but slightly lacking in the details. Make of guns, type of dog ect. Guessing Cocker spaniel but not certain as I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one in my parts. Brittneys yes but mostly labs and goldens with an occasional Chesapeake or pointer. 👍🏼👍🏼
I really enjoy hunting woodcock but I do not like how they taste at all. Maybe the American ones taste completely different, but to me you can tell it eats worms all day.
Looks like the Woodcock in Europe live in more open areas than they do in North America. They live in the thickest, densist brush they can find over here. We have a saying, "You're not a woodcock hunter until you've bled a woodcock's worth of blood hunting them."
this will be my 1st season without my old cocker he was a true master at woodcock had my 1st right and left with him almost 10 years ago watching this brought back some amazing memories
I’m the same had to retire my 13 year old boy as he’s gone deaf, still got half a day in him, but for his safety the old boy has to sit it out now 😔
now get an English Setter so you can see what real woodcock hunting is like

It’s on the bucket list!
THIS is hunting. This is what needs to be celebrated. Cracking film.
Lol it's bought on a stocked reserve, not earned in the field....

@@programmatic93the woodcock are wild and migratory, not stocked….
Agreed!
Private property keep out is a pretty common sign in the U.K.
As for stocking woodcock….. yeh
One woodcock is worth an awful lot of other birds in the bag. Something magical about them and the pursuit of them. Great!
That definitely is a day to remember!
Love watching this!!!

Finally a quality video of the most underrated game bird there is
Brilliant, one of your best videos yet. Encapsulated everything that is wonderful about about wild bird shooting
Another great video and great day out among friends and guns. Thanks for sharing

Green with envy. Looked like a great time. Thanks for sharing.
No excuses Paul. You're wearing your favorite jumper.
Lovely walked up shoot.
Perfect I love those days.
Great clips and hard beat woodcock walked up over spaniels .
Excellent film! Two of my favorite people on youtube. Thank you.
Our pleasure!

Wow what a great day, I’m not jealous at all🤣, well done👍👍
OUTSTANDING jumper Paul!!!
That looks like tough but rewarding hunt.
Mega awesome film - hunting for woodcocks with the 410 nothing can beat that.

great vid mt loved it.
What a wonderful day in the woods. You may think about spending some time in the incredible state of Idaho, chasing grouse and other forest birds.
Well that looked like a ton of fun.
What were those delightful .410's?
Stunning looking birds 👏
Brilliant video thanks
Great video, beautifully filmed.
Video spettacolare complimenti e che luoghi magnifici
Job well done!!!!!!!
I've also got a little AYA, in 28 bore though. Fun and light, but hard to shoot well, as most of my guns are 12's.
Brilliant video.
Good video, great place to hunt.
Any Game shooting is a must with a SXS 👍
Unless you’re on big load day
Walk up shoot is so enjoyable and exceptional exercise
Great content as always TGS 👍
Where I lived I hunted them many Evenings on the edge of a field. Only I liked the 28 bore .hard hitting small bore.
Well shot!
Great video. Would love to have a day doing this with small bores.
Great video as always,
Looked like a an amazing day.
Post the recipe for the woodcock ragu !

A friend showed me a taxidermy American woodcock - like a sparrow!
Excelente lances de cazeria amigos saludos chevre caza
woodcock is the best game bird meat. delicious.
I hunt our Woodcock with a 410, wish they were in cover like yours. In the US it’s thick and nasty hard to walk through. Great video👍🇺🇸
Those birds look a couple sizes larger than the ones im bumping up in the thickets here in NC USA.
the most beautiful hunt in the world is a real knight's hunt. but there is no woodcock hunting without a setter or pointer dog.
#4's with .410 for woodcock is a mistake
Also a hot pink jumper
We always use a vest hunting in the states.thought about a waxed canvas shooting bag.are they cumbersome in the field?
Game bag is handy in that you can also carry waterproofs and/or drinks etc. I don’t find one cumbersome in any way.
Great video, How many woodcock did you shoot ,If you Google 14 things brits living in the USA miss most about the UK there is a photo of you wearing a union jack t shirt, 👍.
Great looking side by sides - who is the maker?
AyA #4 or 4/53.
thats very much an alive bird 0:29
Great video what make are the 410s AyA? Also I really like Paul's tweed cap what brand model is it?
What are the shooting glasses you're using?
He forgot sun in his eyes
My 410 a Spanish make

what's the brand of the gun, nice video!
👏🏻
Please tell who the gun maker was.
Talk us through the hen pheasant 😈 or is Mr P colour blind 🥺
Keeling Plain
1758 Hudson Squares
are the birds eaten ?
It would be nice to share your recipe
I loved this! I know there were a lot of misses, that's life.
By the way, that's the biggest game bag I've ever seen... You aren't living out there???
Its called Product Placement , note the fine Big logo facing outwards the whole time.
Beautiful birds.....why kill them for fun? I don’t understand
Nitzsche Branch
I really enjoy hunting woodcock but I do not like how they taste at all.
Maybe the American ones taste completely different, but to me you can tell it eats worms all day.
You're probably overcooking your birds.
No setter and no woodcock hunting
Cocker spaniel were originally called "woodcocker" spaniel. So I'd say it pretty appropriate to use
🇪🇨🇪🇨🇪🇨
Paul looks like Judd Trump's father..

Idk man. If it's for sport. Why not just look at the thing and take a picture.
Because a picture doesn’t taste good?
Why do you walk through the woods carrying a big purse? Wearing a tie no less.
You guys are dressed for a drive. If you are doing walked up shooting get a vest on to be more agile and do not carry a bag
Woodcock are wonderful unique birds. They should not be shot.
Shooting woodcock should be banned
What kind of dog is that?
Cocker spaniels
