It is starting to get better, I moved here from Murrieta 4 years ago and SW area is booming, plus Winchester. We couldn’t afford a good retirement in Temecula or Murrieta, now we have a newer home, and are still close to every thing, wine country, cute mall in Menifee. We get tired of all the traffic in Temecula & Murrieta after visiting. Menifee can be busy too! Sure we would love to live in the OC or near the ocean-not affordable for retirement. Close to Sage a place called the Lodge, formerly the Diamond Valley golf course, where you can experience Bengal Tigers, the beautiful Diamond Valley reservoir, Museums, parks. We have the cool Historic Theatre in old town area, comedians, concerts, local entertainment, Smoke free Soboba Casino, Murrieta has a cute but boring “old town” Temecula has an adorable old town but try to find parking. Murrieta schools were over populated when my kids went there. Now they have 3 high schools and yes a good education there. But the schools here are getting better every year. Plus I never had the beautiful views like we have here of the Mt. San Jacinto Mtns. Ramona theatre is a beautiful colorful experience. It can be hotter here than the other SW Riverside area. But all in all happy about moving here. You have to be careful wherever you live 😊

I finally moved away from Hemet this year and it was absolutely terrible when I left. I couldn't stand the constant crime or the high costs anymore. Their cops are all dirty & dangerous too. Those people are totally toxic and often highly addicted to meth.
I moved to Hemet when everyone still had "Hemet is Heaven" bumper stickers & everyone went to Church on Sunday. It got real bad a while back but it's getting better. Thank you Hemet Police.

I love Hemet, people that talk about crime, homelessness, and all the other negative things. All those things are everywhere. I move to hemet 5 years ago from san diego and so far its been a good place to live. Its really a good place to invest in a property.
One cannot go to downtown Hemet without witnessing the huge homeless and drug problem it has. Saying that those problems are everywhere is not being honest about the magnitude of those problems in Hemet. Maybe people there prefer to ignore the problems. Maybe the affordability isn’t bringing in enough tax revenue. Murrieta and Temecula are larger but safer.
I live in Hemet in a beautiful small gated Community, nice place We moved here 4 years ago. Of course there’s not beach area close, but I love it my house is beautiful I’m happy. ❤

Hemet and San Jacinto has beautiful mountains all around and we’re pretty much centrally located. I’ve lived here many years , and so far I haven’t had any issues. I would avoid the old parts of San Jacinto and Hemet, because it can be pretty rough there.
It's because French Valley is in a building boom. You have to drive thru French Valley to get to Temecula. There's other routes but thru French Valley is still the most direct route.
Hemet has some beautiful old bungalows but they are trashed. Wish the city could subsidize owners who could restore them and make a little bungalow heaven and a historic feature of Hemet.
Was better 30 years ago has gone down since , homeless has definitely risen jaywalking is horrendous be careful, leaving as soon as we can forgot to mention street walkers and I'm not talking about a rundown area , Florida and Sanderson.
All of this sounds great to me, I want to make that move sometime in the future. I currently live in Palmdale CA so i am already used to having to drive 40 min to an hour for entertainment.

I am from Michigan. A city that has a bad reputation: Flint. I’m doing research and Hemet seems a bit affordable compared to the rest of CA rent prices. I know California is expensive but I want a fresh start and new opportunities. Michigan can be depressing. In my opinion. I’ll work 2 jobs if I have to. I’m a CNA so I’ll for sure have one job .

My parents moved to Hemet in the late nineties. It was a decent place to retire. My mom died in October of 23. I have had to spend some time out there to manage her affairs. What an absolute dumpster fire that town is now. Gang graffiti everywhere. HORDES of homeless junkies. At night it is an episode of the walking dead. The whole town stinks of cow shit. 30 minutes to get to any freeways. Quit trying to say there is anything redeeming about this giant landfill.

I’m glad you assume I prey on people, just full disclosure majority of the people I help move to Hemet do so by choice because 90% of the time it’s the really one of the more affordable cities left here in SoCal. Tons of new homes that have amazing communities. Also yes I’ve helped bunch of “mature families” move into Hemet and San Jacinto given the fact this is a place they can actually retire with cost of living and the fact that there is plenty of 55+ communities 👍🏻.
