Tip! As a native English speaker (UK) one of the things I teach students my students is how figures of speech are used in everyday English; these figures of speech are very strange to non English speakers, such as: Flogging a dead horse You're barking up the wrong tree He, she...is mad as a Hatter It's raining cats and dogs His/Her goose is cooked... I not only teach them what they mean, because, they will hear them on the street, in shops, bnks, cafes...but the history and origin behind them!
Agreed 😊 Idioms and expressions are important parts of a language, I also dedicate some time to teach them to students, apart from phrasal verbs, collocations and any other structures that make the language sound more natural 📚🤗 thank you for commenting
@@justteachmethod It's so hard to look at it when we see our own face or those of the students... We have to look at the little camera hole instead :p There's something I see and hear from you often is your "fings" instead of "things"... be careful. ;) Thank you so much for all the material you bring, it helped me clarify and understand the things I had a problem with and you helped me getting more excited again about teaching and I got back to my old files and material that I classed again. I can better structure my whole teaching.
Thanks for commenting! I've checked your channel and you are also doing very well 💪💪 I'd love to have you in my ELT Glossary series! Would you be up for it?
Glad you all liked it ❤️. I've got a whole playlist on Speaking Activities, and I'm happy to annouce that I will have 100% ready-to-use lessons soon that can keep helping you and your students! Please check my IG @teacherlittlemary_ for fresh updates!!
I find that if my student wants to babble about something, I let them do it because they want to focus on allowing themselves to flow. I just leave corrections in the chat box and explain some of the major corrections if we have time. My goal as a tutor is to let my students feel confident that they can flow and talk even if they make mistakes. Sure, if my student wants micro corrections, I give it to them.
Hi Mary, my biggest problem is finding students. I have an idea of my target audience, but I'm not sure how to reach them. Meanwhile, the English learners I am attracting with my content on social media don't seem interested in lessons -- although they say they love my content.
Hi Mary! Thanks for the advice! Did you just say you teach between 40 and 50 lessons per week?? So how much time do you spend preparing all your lessons? I have just started giving private classes online and feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of time I need to prepare them.
Yeah! Well, now I'm teaching only about 35 lessons per week as I've got a new baby 😂 I'm lucky 90% of my students have similar goals and levels, so I just prepare one or two lessons per week and use the same with all of them! Many just want to practice speaking, so I just have to find engaging topics and let it flow. I've got a video talking about lesson planning 😀 th-cam.com/video/vpOmjfvbWRs/w-d-xo.html
Hola espero que veas esto ¿Cuáles programas o páginas podrías recomendarme para sacar quizzes de temas específicos? Ejemplo: Tecnología. Es decir audios de Listening y por lo menos que tengan las otras 4 áreas en general.
Hello 😊 yo prefiero clases individuales pero cuando me tocaban grupos, preferia entre 4 y 6 alunmos. Me hacia dificil mantener a todos interesados si Eran mas de 6 🧐🧐

That's a good strategy! Let them feel free and feel that they are in a safe place where they can talk. And then help them to improve ❤️

Hi and sorry for the delay! I strongly recommend the British Council website (mainly their Video Zone). Loads of ready-to-use lessons and nice stuff!
Little Mary Are you using Zoom for your clases?
Yes, I am 😊 for the videos as well

Hi, I've been travelling around for 2 decades, I'm currently living in Spain but will be moving soon to Cyprus! 😊
