Man! What rig are you utilizing for heavy guitars? That shit is gruesome.
The rig that we used on the record was a mix between a Vox AC30 and a blackstar HT5. The blackstar added a heavy element to the sound while the AC30 added clarity into the mix. we used this setup for live shows as well and it worked really well.
