    Great maintenance video touches all the areas im working on next for my 90 300sel and im glad you touched on the original R12 ac subject i was unaware you could still get R12 AC rather keep my system OEM than hafta switch out everything to accommodate the R134 modification. Of course minus any nessassary repair/replace defective parts.😊

    Hi John.
    I don’t know if it was the video or my eyes, but it appeared that the air cleaner assembly on the car was moving around when the car was running. Wondering if the bushings were worn?
    Oh, by the way,, remind me to get you a new hose for your parts washer. The one on there is constantly leaking. LOL
    Thanks for all the in depths. I’ve learned so much about this series of cars from you.

      The air cleaner bushings are actually brand new and were changed last weekend what you're seeing is a strange effect that shows up on camera. The frames per second rate of the camera often cause air cleaners to look like they're waving around and moving. It's a really strange effect. I know exactly what you're talking about.
      Yeah that Parts washer hose has been driving me crazy I haven't gotten around to it yet hahaha

    Great videos. I’ve been watching since the OM617 rebuild series a couple years ago. Transmission parts( like the pan )should have the solvent flushed off with hot water, and then blown dry with compressed air. Solvent, or solvent residue should never come in contact with the fluid or internals. Also, when the engine was idling after refilling the transmission, the air filter housing was moving excessively, independent of the rest of the engine.

    Mann filters are actually recommended by Mercedes for direct OEM replacements.

    I sincerely think your videos are extremely better Kent B. The info., instruction and camera work is consistently A+! Question: Is there a way to remove center vent actuator without removing the dash? I have tried to go through the glovebox opening, but I gave up! I have removed the dash (which is somewhat easy), but usually I am too lazy to remove it to just replace the actuator!!!

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I think you're correct. Dash has to come out to replace that center vent actuator. You may have some success removing the wood panel and climate control in the center and reaching back behind there but I doubt it. Keep in mind if your heater is on those center vents do not blow Heat only the side vents. The center vents are just for AC. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that cuz I would hate for you to remove the dash and replace that center vent because you noticed heat was not coming out of the center vents.

    • @richardgreene3460
      @richardgreene3460 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@woodsandbarclay Aware. Surely a rig up, but I usually disconnect the rod to the center vents (at the actuator) allowing the vents to always be open letting heat to come out (along with fresh air/AC)! Surely, not like MB designed it, but it works!

    I have a burning question 😅 about the upholstery of Mercedes-Benz W126. I know that the w123 mostly have mb tex. Do you know if the W126 is equipped with real leather?
    This morning a valuer (taxation) looked in detail ad my W126 with the brown "leather" interior. And he wasn't sure if it was real leather or mb tex.
    And in the instruction manual, they talked about leather.
    Hope you have the right answer,
    With kind regards Helmer

    • @woodsandbarclay
      @woodsandbarclay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's mbtex the pleats on the seats will run from the front of the car to the back of the car all the way up the seat. If it's leather there will be a very wide leather strip that runs across the seat at the front edge.

      @woodsandbarclay many thanks Woods and Barclay. Then my car have mb tex. The pleats running indeed. Form the front to the back. Thank you very much 😀
