Very nice! Still running the stock 4 cylinder engine in my ‘69 SWB. Although, I would like to install a little more powerful engine. Looked into the Scotty conversion and actually talked with Scott about it before rebuilding my original engine. Sounds like he he’s not interested in selling the complete engine but only the conversion kit. Very interesting modification you’re doing. Thanks!
@@Rovertube the original petrol is a good little motor. Find a original Scotty adapter is almost impossible. I just happen to find one. I had to find or make everything else for the engine and adapter to work.
Hi great work I have done 5 conversions over the years in series L/R's replacing the rover motors 3 x 21/4 4cyls and 2 of infamous side valve 6 cyl rover and I installed Holden 6 cyl red motors. I chose the 186 S and used yellow Terror heads as they had big exhaust valves and double valve springs, kept the L/R clutch . Here in Australia we had issues with high ambient temps so had the radiators modified with extra core,, modified the sumps to accept exactly double the oil capacity and the used a higher volume oil pump this all kept the engine at optimum temp even in low range extreme conditions. Had to modify the mounts to get the correct engine angle as my first was mounted too flat and #6 6 fell victim to water jacket cavitation, You wont have that issue. Great work a pleasure watching thank you. Regards from the Pilbara in Western Australia.
5! Wow! As soon as you said “Holden” I knew where you’re from. Ha ha!! Sounds like the 186 was a nice runner. Vacation does not sound good. I hope that doesn’t happen to me. Thank you for watching. I think the Holden engines had a different bolt pattern for the adapter?
Wonderful! The idea sounds very simple, it's sobering to see exactly how much work goes into it! So, very much appreciated to have a longer video. What will you do with the old diesel lump?
Thank you Sir!! It definitely took some thinking and contemplation. 😀 The old diesel lump will probably be sold. It’s a good runner with tons of new parts.
Coming along nicely. I had Volvo Penta version of that engine in my boat, and they ran the forward left engine mount through the alternator belt. It sure made a simple belt change a bitch.
It’s called a Scotty Adapter. They were produced back in the 1990’s. It’s a vintage bellhousing made just for this swap. The adapter has an early gen 1 Chevy bolt pattern. So anything with the same bolt pattern will work. Like an inline 6 or V8.
@@crusty_trucks I didn’t build a plate. I found an original Scotty adapter from the 1990’s. The adapter is 2.25 inch thick. One side is the Land Rover trans pattern. The other side is an early Gen 1 Chevy V8 engine pattern.

Clas "A" engineering. Excellant.
Thank you Sir!!
Outstanding work! I can't wait to see the next installment!

Thank you Sir!! WTH!! That’s a bunch of silly. I’ve seen some pretty tight belt changes and bolts too.
Hi. I was wondering what you used for an adaptor at the bell housing?
Thanks. Nice work

Wow, a Mercruiser, huh.
You gonna use a Volvo outlive with counter rotation props, too? Well, you'll never get stuck crossing rivers! 😅
Ha ha!! Might be helpful for water crossings. Ha ha You never know what I will do next to the old Series. Thank you for watching!
Im wanting to do this to the 65 88 im getting. Could you shoot the measurements of the plates you built to me?
