    I have always liked to listen to the whine of a cictaler saw as it cuts a log it remindes me of of the familey vactions we took when I was a kid. Ithink that we must have gone through just about every type of lumber mill alonge the Washington and Orgon cost and some in Calforina the whine of your saw brings back a lot of good memoris.

    I don't know anything about sawing lumber. But I do remember my father getting Grandpa's saw back up running for a farm show. It was belt driven by a power source. (Steam engine or tractor). But it cut like a Dream ! All mechanical though, I don't know how they did it back then! Love you're videos!

    I figured you wouldn’t want a front mounted edger with all the custom sawing you do. Edging each board separately allows for better results and less waste. Helmsburg is a production mill so he can benefit from the speed but I often wondered how much it blocked his view of the blade and you just answered that question while you were sawing. Nice sawing, as usual!

    Question mark. Is there any specific reason why you put the opening cut back to the knees instead of down on the headblocks? Seems like it would be more stable and insure a square cut no?? Awesome video, loved it 😀

    • @jackx4311
      @jackx4311 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it's because having the flat side against the knees means that all of the dogs can get a good bite. If the flat side was put on the blocks, it would be very stable, but due to the uneven surface on the knees side, some of the dogs might barely touch the log, even when pulled out as far as they can go. HTH - and I'm open to correction by Mark G if I'm wrong!

    The sawing of nice uniform straight logs maybe fine for you from a commercial point of view, but for the average viewer, having watched quite a few, they can, and do, start to get a bit monotonous.. The bigger, uglier, twisted, knobblier, distorted ,and therefore more difficult and challenging they are,the better .To create something of value out of basically virtual firewood has its own satisfaction. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,100% fact.
