So much fun to rip! Can't get enough of the soundtrack this thing makes. Definitely felt to me like there's a 22 or 23 in the car as is around TMP and obviously with more tire she'll only go faster. Love the fact that you built this car for driving enjoyment and not just chasing lap times. Looking forward to some 2020 race track hangs with you guys!
@@TheSlipAngle 👍😁 me too! A balanced chassis 50/50 weight distribution and high revving rpm's and rearwheel drive! And loads of throttle response with enough grip. Those are the ingredients that excite me. And your miata has al those elements. Respect bro 👍
What I like most about your build is just how unflappable it is. The engine seems to run as well all through the RPM range and different loads as an OEM engine. All too often I feel like ITB setups never quite run right. Yours seems to be tuned exceptionally well. And that's on top of how it seems to run lap after lap after lap without issue. That BP is solid and sounds lovely. What a great little car.
Thanks brother. I'm glad you appreciate that. I don't think people understand the compromise that comes with highly modifying a car and how much time and effort it takes to try to keep close to factory driveability. ITBs are certainly not a bolt on and go mod. They take a great deal of time to properly sort. With that said, this car has great driveabilty given the state of tune that it is in. Maybe not factory like but certainly very close.
Your channel brings me so much joy. It's great seeing how much love you have for driving. I'm right there with ya. Love beating on my ap1. All the best to you.
@@speedacademy great numbers. I drive a gun metal grey 2014 MX 5 NC. A ten second car. It came out of the box race ready with Le Mans paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Every time I drive it I'm in a James Bond movie. When people see it they ask, 'does it have machine guns behind the fog lights?' The license plate reads 009. It's definitely licensed to kill. Does a 'drift' nicely. Q branch read out, race ready with paddle shifters. A ten second car, does 0 to 100 mph in ten seconds. Double wish bone suspension and drive while flat tires makes her a nimble cat with tough paws. The body is made of rust resistant steel and carbon fiber (Kevlar) material. It has quarter inch metal armor under the engine and transmission. Stainless steel exhaust. A seven speaker Boise sound system keeps the Bond theme music coming thru 5 by 5.
Just wondering if there would be any power to be gained by going in to the bottom end of this thing? I know you already have high compression via shave/deck
Everytime I look at this car it reminds me that you what to k20 swap it. Kind of feel bad for that but, on the other hand, I can understand why. Keep it up, you´ll not loose a subscriber. I promisse. Shot out from Portugal
I'm not going to break something that isn't broken. While I know I can easily break 200 WHP with a K, this car is certainly not bad or boring. So I'm going to keep rocking this setup as long as it keeps taking the abuse :)
How much litre per mile does this dreamcar NB need? When u drive it sportly for sure... would be interesting to know how much gas a built suction motor needs ;-D
A much faster track than lime rock , enjoyed that video. Of course , now i feel the need to weld my right foot to the floor. What RPM is peak power at ?
Great driving and appreciate your tenacity Quinn. I guess you intended to build your NB ITB as a 'fun' car than a 'laptime-grip' car, so its not a bad laptime at all that you+Dave posted. If you wanted to make it even faster without changing the engine, you could look into ATS carbon LSD and perhaps a very expensive suspension setup with remote dampers by MCS or JRZ, custom carbon driveshaft, and as you said, different tyres. But its your car, so do whatever pleases you the most!
I don't really care about faster laptimes. You're talking maybe 3-4 tenths with those mods? This was my only timed session on track with it. I could have gone a little faster with more time, some shock adjustments, etc. It's still just an N/A Miata making under 200 whp lmao. It's not winning any races. 4K+ MCS's I'd justify for a more capable car. Maybe a Gen 5 Viper or that class of car :) The carbon driveshaft I'd be interested in though for more response. Does someone make one for these cars now? I'm a bit out of the loop at this point.
The S2000 hands down. I love my NB don't get me wrong, but back to back with my AP1 S2000 and you can feel it's a much more special car and powertrain. We are dropping a video next week where I discuss them both side by side.
@@TheSlipAngle It tells me you are not safe. Wear a damn helmet! Just because you dont have to doesnt mean you shouldnt. Cant drive a track once you are brain dead. Be smart, stay safe.
2nd looks too short for this track. Up Shifting just as your coming out of the corner is losing you time. Try 3rd in the tight ones, even if your not quite in the power band you’ll at least stay on throttle longer and not have as much to do so you can focus on your line.

Can’t wait to come back!
The ITB sound is like therapy for me.
Hell yes! :)
Can’t be too upset about lap times in a car that fun to hustle around a track lol
Yup! I literally ran this how I run it on the street. The only adjustment I made quick was set cold temperatures in the tires before going out :)

Man, you're having more fun than any twelve people I know! Keep 'em coming. ;)
lol, will do!
Pound for pound still one of the best NB's out there. What's Dave and Pete's outright fastest times around the park.
In a Miata, 1:18's in a LS3 powered NB. In anything with 4 wheels, 1:13's in the OnPoint Dyno 350Z and 1:12's in a race prepped GT3 RS.
