I love blades but don't know much about Japanese swords . The fact that some date back hundreds of years is amazing . Those blades could have been in numerous wars and battles in that time

What do you mean you don’t know how this thing ended up in World War II.. Many families had Ancestral swords that dated way back into the 1600s and before.. Remember the Japanese had no intentions of ever losing the war or their swords by having to give them up when MacArthur ordered them to surrender all weapons Including every sword,,, some that had been in the family for hundreds of years and they lost it that way….some people got lucky,, some swords were built in the late 30s and throughout World War II as government issue,,and some had a Prize Ancestral Blade like this one here…
