As a parent looking ahead, what is the path for high schoolers looking to playing at the next level? Where do they go?

Apologies. I’m just reading the caption that this topic is related to D1 programs.

Folks, I can say it a thousand times, high school kids can pray for rain. Example after example that D1 coaches don't have time, anymore, to develop a kid. This coach said, "dreaming on". What he meant is "wait two years and hope he develops". Go get that kid from another D1 who has played, has developed, and simply wants a different scene. I have no dog in the fight. I've watched and unless you are a Top 200 player, maybe a bit more, say Top 300, go to D3, go JUCO, dominate and show the coaches you can play. One of TAMU's top dogs was at Columbia for 4-years. Do you think, for one second, that as an 18U player, you can compete with that kid? ZERO CHANCE. Well, unless you're Harper or Trout.

That is a pretty broad brush that you are painting with. It depends on the conference and program. Not all college coaches would fit your comment. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

In other words, the coach is saying he doesn’t have time to get players better

That would be incorrect. Appreciate your input but that is NOT his point. Follow the entire interview.

@@coachbeedeI disagree. In fairness to the coach in this video, I don’t think my original comment applies specifically to him. I also think my original comment applied to coaches prior to the transfer portal existing. College baseball has always preferred “instant impact” players, which typically weren’t freshman. The coach said he “can’t dream on players” anymore…development takes time. Why spend that time developing players when I can grab an “instant impact” guy right out of the portal that I can plug and play? That’s the way I interpreted the clip 🤷‍♂️ thanks for the engagement, I enjoy the content.
