1946 CJ2A Jeep Restoration. Installing a New Fuel Pump

Restoration. It hasn't run in five years. Installing a new fuel pump so I can get the Willys CJ2A Jeep up and running for the springtime. This jeep is my favorite and I want to drive it this summer along with the Willys MB.

I thought for sure, that when that rear pump bolt came out, that the crankshaft would fall out. 😂 Overkill is an understatement!

Yep Jason....I think that bolt held in the whole motor.

Well sir I missed the question as to using sealer or not. I would. Discriminately, yes. It doesn’t take nearly what I see typically used however. It’s more of a gasket dressing.

Did you have to rotate the engine to take some of the pressure off the pump arm?

No. It fit right in. The pump lobe is pretty tiny but it may have already been in a good alignment.

I had several 134 l heads. I would have blown back into the gas tank to make sure there's no obstruction first thing. you're only looking at a 10-minute job 2 change a pump.

Well...thank you Bill. So including filming it took me about a half hour. Not bad I guess for the first time. I know the pitfalls now so the next one should be faster...do you agree?

Think you need a longer bolt with more washers. 😂

Did look very tight in there . I don't know how they put v8 s in there .

I know what you mean Earl. I had to take the red horn out to finish the project it was so tight in there.
