    Great video!! Loved all your wine recommendations. This is actually the first time I've heard Chateau Musar and I don't think I've had the opportunity to try Lebanese wine. I will have to look out for it next time!

    Excellent recommendations, John! I had the pleasure of tasting the 2016 Barbaresco before its release while I was in the region. Definitely high on my list. I also enjoy Chateau Musar. I have yet to try the Clos du Val Cabernet Sauvignon and the Chilean wine from Christian. Rioja is perfect for me since I don’t have the patience for aging wines. Thank you for this outstanding list of wines and winemakers.

    Attorney Somm,
    I love your picks. La Rioja Alta is one of my favorite Rioja producers. I just got a Clos du Val and I am looking forward to opening it; I believe it will have a lot of Bordeaux influences in its profile. We adore CDP, need to pick up bottle of the Pegau. I am looking forward to your videos.

    Thank you so much for this review, John! A great range and very reasonable and wide selection! I'm going to taste Milla Cala next week - will compare your notes with mine. Thanks for the video. There are definitely a couple i will try. Wines are expensive in the United States. Many of the wines you have mentioned can be bought for the equivalent of less than $ 30 in Denmark, and we have a 25% sales tax + tax on alcohol.
    Some of my favorites for under $ 50 are:
    - Pantocrator Rioja Alta
    - Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella
    - Aalto Ribera del Duero

    Excellent video as always. I have my own selection of cellar defenders and I gravitate much more to the new world than you. For me a very good cellar defender is Austin Hope from Paso Robles and yes it is very sweet but it is always a crowd pleaser. Other cellar defenders : Faustino I Gran Reserva ( $30 give or take), Mollydooker Blue Eyed Boy shiraz from Australia, Clos Apalta "Petit Clos", Far Niente Post and Beam cab ( everybody likes FN botttles, they look so nice and upscale and this entry wine is good-ish), and last but not least "Clio" from Jumilla Spain.

    Great recommendations! I am excited about eventually opening the 2018 Produttori del Barbaresco (~$30 😋)!
    I also recently got another of your recommendations in the 2015 La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva. How do you think it compares to the 2015 Vina Arana Gran Reserva? For someone pretty new to Rioja (2017 Marques de Riscal Reserva being the only serious one thus far), if the Arana is very similar to the Ardanza, what do you also think about the 2018 Vina Alberdi Reserva?

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much! Excellent choices! Terrific price on the Produttori! The Arana used to be a Reserva, but now it is a Gran Reserva because in strong vintages that wine can perform like the 904 (which costs a lot more). So the Arana will be one that you can age for a longer time. Both are excellent though. The 2018 Alberdi Reserva is a very good wine at the price point. That is one you can enjoy right away or that will age for another few years. It is not at the same quality level as the 15 Arana Gran Reserva, though.

      On another note,@@AttorneySomm, I know that it's a big-name brand, but I found a lovely under $50 wine (~$33-35) in the 2019 Mondavi Napa Valley Cabernet.
      It's sort of a "cellar defender" for me because I had previously bought the 2019 Mondavi The Estates Cabernet... though it's not such a huge difference in price (~$60).

      @@AttorneySomm This wine comes with a little "how I found it " story. I was once invited to a private gathering with Ramtha the Enlightened One. These are small (1-5 people) gatherings won at online auction, usually 1-4 hours in duration, (unknown) at prices ranging from 170 000$ to 25 000$ a pop. I was there on a friend's invite, (free). Ramtha was a great warrior that led an army of over 2 million about 35 000 years ago. On the table in front of the open fire with the warrior next to it, we 4 open bottles of the Reyes. I promptly had 2 large glasses and was awarded with an approving look. It can be intimidating to sit in front of a person who can read your soul. So there you have it. My pick wasn't mine at all,it was made by a full-blown Enlightened Master. My compliments for your worthy taste!

    I want to build a cellar in a few years, but my budget for wine is about 40 bucks max. Are there a lot of "cheap" wines (15-30 dollars) that are worthy of aging? How does one identify these wines?
