- Rock Springs sits in southwest Wyoming at the fringes of the Red Desert and its ever-shifting sand dunes, where evidence of mankind stretches back millennia.
The once hardscrabble town built on the back of the Union Pacific Railroad has transformed itself into a place of industry and culture.
This is the gateway to the Flaming Gorge, which opens its shores to 2.5 million people every year.
Locals call Rock Springs tight knit. Newcomers see a town working hard to thrive.
The Wyoming Business Council Board of Directors recently toured Wyoming's fifth-largest city to see the community's progress firsthand and to discover what's on the horizon.
Here's what they saw.
If you have ever seen the giant fence that surrounds the perimeter of the salvage yard east of town made completely out of rims, please give this comment a like, I'm the guy who welded all those rims together back in the 80s when I was 16 years old, I haven't been to rock springs since I ran away from home, home being a trailer in the salvage yard, I am a man of scant accomplishment, I would hate to think my work has gone unnoticed
Haha that's freakin awesome dude
My Dad use to work for John Bunning. He retired from there a few years ago
Sheridan Wyoming is getting Weatherby guns. So happy to see them come here. Good airports are a must for these companies
Town nice. Lots of wind and snow though, but that’s to be expected
I hope the community is welcoming of all types of humans. Staying there this summer :)
We are a state of every color. I love my Latino neighborhood. Race doesn't matter
Absolutely. 56 countries are represented in Rock springs
Chinese people were massacred here
Looks a lot funkier than Los Vegas
It’s not as “funky” as Las Vegas, but it’s still a kick ass town.
There's nothing cool about wyoming. Staying in rock springs for work for a week. It's trashy as hell.
