Been watching for about a year now. I turned 21 yesterday and enjoyed my "first" whiskey. It was a Jack Daniels Single Barrel Select, that my family had purchased the whole barrel of a few years ago.
Goddamn y’all are spot on with the notes on the Dickle! Just bought a bottle today, so I’m watching to sip along. I found every note y’all mentioned, thanks again for all y’alls work and shenanigans!
I just bought this Dickel 11 year old. My first impression was I have had this before. It is very similar to Legent for me. Both are very good whiskeys.
I'll be flying to Austin Friday September 6, 2019 and it is going to be 103°F (and we ALL know what the "F" stands for!) Has Compass Box ever made a bad whiskey? Or even, a less than awesome whisky? Yet I don't think they do any Single Malts.... so cheers to the best of Blenders! 🥃
I want to love Compass Box because of everything they are doing and their overall philosophy. However, I've only really connected with a couple of expressions. They only blend, but they did do the Double Single 😊 Personally, I'm more partial to Douglas Laing. The Regional Malts series is absolutely fantastic! They do independent bottlings of single malts and specialty blends, too.
I can say that down here in the "other colony" Compass Box occupies what seems to me to be a larger share of shelf space than you might expect given its size and heritage compared to the big brands.
In other news... My best mate in Houston just managed to acquire two bottles of the Dickel 13 BIB for us. Looking forward to comparing it to the Henry McKenna 10 BIB...SAY THERE's an idea guys...
I absolutely love compass box. Spice tree is probably my favorite the king street is really nice value as well. I was late on the hedomism and heard it was better in past but for 110 dollars i was very disappointed but ive always picked up a vodka type finish in scottish grain whiskies. I personally prefer the king street to the hedonism bottle i drank. The hedonism was all vanilla and coconut in beginning but quickly became similar to ballentines which is fine but ballentines is 15 bucks hedonism was 115 so there was an issue for me.
That and glenmo 10 are such values in that style both 30 dollars and fantastic. Tomatin and glen moray also great value for speyside type profiles. Yes i know tomatin is highland but its the soft side of it for sure which puts it in spey category for me.
You forgot to mention the best part about the Dickel BiB, the price. It's freakin $35 in NC for this 13-year old whiskey. Could you imagine the Jack Daniel's equivalent? I bet they'd price it close to $100.
I just picked up the King Street Glasgow Blend on Sat.....I was pumped when i saw the title.... but quickly deflated when I realized you where reviewing the other version 😞...
Have you ever looked at any rums? Such as the 21 year reserve rum from el dorada. I was able to get it and its amazing. Just saying. Maybe something different. You guys are the best. Thanks Bjwilli
Crazy story about that Compass Box. The store I that I picked it up at had knocked the price down from the original price of $55 a bottle to $20 because no one was buying them.... I may have purchased a case at that time lol.
He said it's the normal none though, it's a special edition of it with the extra time Ina Sherry cask. Also I have not seen it yet here. It's always out when I have looked. I see the spot though lol
One distiller One distillation season (so you can't blend in barrels from other years) Minimum 4 years of aging New, charred oak barrel Bottled at 50% ABV 😊
Right, Mr. Smith. I've found even the cheaper BIB's (Beam bonded, Old Granddad, Rhittenhouse) are usually a solid quality bet. EH Taylor was my first and I've tried all the ones I can afford since then.
That chalky citrus reads heavily as flint stones vitamins to me, part of it is my hatred for those growing up and other people’s insistence on that note, but I just can’t get past it
Daniel and Rex Whiskey - fraternal twins separated at birth, reunited in the Vault. I like it! I want the movie rights! Of course, we'll cast Brad Pitt and George Clooney - I smell Oscar!
Several years ago I typed in something like "Which hard liquor is the best for you," and there were a couple of articles that said pretty much the same thing, which was that cognac and brandy (i.e. real brandy made by distilling wine, not the fake brandy sold in American beer stores) are the only hard liquors that actually have some health value, which is because they contain some antioxidants, whereas no other hard liquors have antioxidants. They also said that bourbon is the worst for health. But hey, I drink bourbon once in awhile. One of my rich friends brings over some really good bourbon a few times a year. The best one I've tasted is Angel's Envy. Another really good one is Bulleit Bourbon. I don't buy those expensive bourbons, or cognac or brandy, because they're way too pricey for me (I'm retired and on Social Security and I can't afford to splurge on stuff like that).
The Artist's Blend is available here in Perth (Western Australia) but we got Buckley's chance of seeing the Dickel. The Dickel 8 and 12 are north of $50/bottle here... yes... we are ruled by Fascists.
DILL on the nose.. That's why it was so hard to nail down because you would never think that would be on the nose. But anyone that opens a bottle of this, smell it and tell me you don't get dill on the nose
Damnit I missed buying that George Dickel, I saw it on the shelf, and now I'm sure all the bottles will disappear with this video, as I see that happen all the time. No more reviews!!! jk kinda
Dickel bib is 1 of my favorites right now just wish I had bought a case when I had a chance at $36 a bottle

Picked up a bottle of the BIB today. $39.99 here in NE Tenn. Looking forward to the peanut dust tonight!

I love the Dickel 12 ... need to check out their higher end bottles

@@dirkdiggler1056 That's pretty cool. Nice to see them delve into creating custom single malt expressions!

They already did the Glasgow blend
Guys guys guys. I'm so jazzed. I finally have a set of glencairn glasses. .....now I have to retry every single whisk[e]y I've ever tasted.
Yessir...You owe it to yourself and the Tribe!

Ok......you guys are way to authentic to appeal to the masses. But for us regular people, you two are fantastic together! All I got to say, WOW!
Very cool, I have an unopened Artist's Blend Marrying Cask that I'll have to crack.
I want to see a 90s Boy Band style intro for the new vault. You know these guys practice those moves when nobody’s watching.
Do you think they will release this again?
Hey wondered what you guys thought of peated bourbons
The best description of that mysterious Dickel taste/nose is "flintstone vitamins"
And now the Tennessee whiskey police will decend upon Rex for calling dickel a bourbon
But.. But... The rules state..........
@@honkytonkinson9787 Hahahaha! Being a TN native, I find that hilarious.... The Lynchburg Tactical Unit is mobilizing a counter offensive as well...🤔
I wanted to love the Dickel.... (Rye & #12 are solid) but too much oak for me. I might get another bottle in the future.
Is the happy hands club move worthy of being what you do when you announce Titans? 🤔
Seriously, it's about time to give a shout out to your DD.

Best quote "it may be because I'm coming off the heels of the dickle"
Huh, still not Ardmore Legacy. I have you on video promising me one 😀
They don't care about us Finns.

The Great King St Artist Blend is hard for people to find? I see it everywhere

In today's episode: Orange Juice? Peanut Dust? The bromance lives on. New choreographed intro for new vault?! Best Dickel EVER!?
1:49 I can't be the only one that shouted out sandwiches
Sorry if this is a stupid question but isn't one of the qualifications for BIB is that it has the same master distiller for at least four years?
Nope, it just has to have the same distiller throughout the distillation run. It can change distillers while it's in the aging process.
One distiller
One distillation season (so you can't blend in barrels from other years)
Minimum 4 years of aging
New, charred oak barrel
Bottled at 50% ABV

why is the Glen Garioch whiskey never tasted and reviewed?
Whisk(e)y Vault, putting Dickel in your "happy hands." Dance!
You're getting whisky from the first Doctor Who?
Wow who knows how old it actually is, he couldve gone 10000 years into the future and gotten it

So I have a would you rather question for every...would you rather spend three month drinking only rye or isle?
TheZulu13, rye. I’d drink only rye for 3 years!
Yep. Rye would be a guilty pleasure for me. Isle would kill me to death....
Daniel: can Dickel be called bourbon also can JD be legally called bourbon or not and why please explain
Hey Boys, did you know, that the actor who played first Doctor Who was also named William Hartnell?
I got dry unbrewed coffee on the nose of the GD BIB. is that weird?
Daniel and Rex Whiskey - fraternal twins separated at birth, reunited in the Vault. I like it! I want the movie rights! Of course, we'll cast Brad Pitt and George Clooney - I smell Oscar!
Dickel, giving a new meaning to the term HARD liquor. Would a nip of this bourbon be called Dickel trickle?
First time I tasted this I got pure peanuts
Does anyone else get a spice burn note from the Dickel BIB
Come on, there wasn't anyone's Knob lying around to accompany the Dickel?
1st boom!
On point CZ, on point.

flintstones vitamins smell George Dickel BIB
Cleveland Grant It’s an unpleasant funk to me. Really don’t like the nose at all. Not particularly fond of the taste either.

Vinegar from KUMBUCHA. Sweet and sour not the orientalists but American. I feel Dickel needs fig leather. Or plain fig.
Immediately I smell blo-loon from my glass. That squeeze tube ballon you blow with a straw….is mine bad?
So no interpretive dance whisk(e)y reviews? Maybe for April Fools. Start with the Nutcracker and end with a RickRoll. But please no dolphin.
