HI, did you have a chance to play Sweet Lands solo? And what was your experience? - I'm in between Sweet Lands and Vital Lacerda's Speakeasy/other game for a heavy solo experience with $1 pledges on both currently :).
I'm a big fan of Ostia, less of Atlas Lost. What really scared me off was the listed playtime. 100-200 minutes? Considering it's safe to double most listed playtimes, that's untenable.
Pretty multiplayer solitaire but not completely. The interaction areas come from the worker placement spots, racing for the milestone and final scoring tiles, and probably seeing what prosperity tracks each player is focusing on.
Rambling thoughts: I can't help but feel this game doesn't distinguish itself enough, despite the admittedly intriguing theme. There's a lot in there that is almost identical to TM...so why not just play TM? I'm seeing similarities to something like Teotihuacan...so why not just play that? Same with Lacerda...why not just pick up one of his? Not to mention the iconography leaves a lot to be desired. The personal city board seems excessive. It adds a lot of table space. And based on what I see on that table, setup doesn't look particularly appealing. Anyway. I think the one saving grace here is the high variety of scoring methods, which may be the greatest selling point. I think I'll be passing despite being drawn to the theme.
Fair concerns/points. I would say that even though I made the TM comparison, this game largely feels like a different experience overall, and heavier. The table space struggle is real though. 4 players will absolutely fill a good size game table.
I assume you mean physically fiddly. I think that's a fair comment. There are a log of little pieces on your player board, but they're all kept pretty secure with the dual-layer board. Visually too, it might seem more "fiddly looking" than it actually is.
It's a lot to look at and take in for sure. Some players might also find it intimidating just from the appearance. Definitely not a gateway sort of game. 😄
@@AtzaltlCoatl You spotted beige? Where? 🤣 I like the muted color palette, and there's more color than it might appear in this video. The muted tones tend to make it all look pretty beige.
@@meeple was just joking. At the macro level it does look very muted. This will be my first "heavy euro", the debate is whether to pitch in extra for that additional tray and sleeves.
Looks like this game needs an experienced publisher to cleanit up, invest in artwork and itterate the game a couple of times. I would advice to not ki kickstart this game becouse of these reason and just play terraforming mars or undereater cities until the publisher if he finds success does 2nd edition.
This is not their first game. They have a pretty solid track record at this point and think they know what they’re doing at this point. This looks very solid and thought out, albeit possibly a bit too heavy for my group and me. Definitely interested though!
I think this is a matter of taste. Many (including us) really like the way this game looks. And this publisher does have some experience. The look of their games thus far are pretty unique though.
No idea where you are getting waifu off of that. The girl on the cover doesn't look sexualized at all and in he game itself you've got symbols and bunnies.
As a couple other replies suggest, I would call this something other than waifu too. The artwork actually reminded me more of something like a cooler cartoon network sort of vibe - along the lines of Adventure Time (but not quite).
When it’s so easy to slap a space theme/setting on a game this game is refreshing doing something so quirky and fun.
100% agree.
Hadn't had this on my radar yet, . Definitely keeping my eyes on this one's progress 👀
Yeah, if you like what you see here, the publisher has another already published game called Ostia, which has some pretty positive buzz.

Sorry, no experience playing it solo. Have you looked for any solo playthroughs?
This looks awesome, what are your thoughts on player count?
Gameplay wise, it should scale pretty well I think. We only played at 2 though, so keep that in mind. It will be a pretty long game at 4 though.

It's longer, but I think 100-200 minutes if probably accurate. I can't imagine doubling that range.
are there any interaction with other players or is it a multiplayer solitaire stuff?
Pretty multiplayer solitaire but not completely. The interaction areas come from the worker placement spots, racing for the milestone and final scoring tiles, and probably seeing what prosperity tracks each player is focusing on.
Also, you can draft cards.
The other two replies here took the words right out of my mouth.

Abit too much it seems..

@ anyway, really appreciate the work done by the team to cover all these new releases. Great job!
I wouldn't call this game a looker, especially considering the theme.
WDYM? It's perfectly beige.
Ha! I actually like the fresh look and unique theme. There is a fair amount of beige in there too I suppose. 😄

Invest in artwork..? The artwork is gorge and very singular in identity I'm not sure what more they could do!

If you are fan of Terraforming mars, it means you don't care about ART, but i agree publisher could "cleanit up" on gameplay aspect
It’s a heavy euro so I’m in by default - Looks good and meaty! Not a fan of the waifu-esque character art though.
This is absolutely not waifu anime. This is more magical girl storybook.
