I, too, avoided the Adele bandwagon for a while bc of all of the hype. What a waste of time that was for me! Almost every time I hear her, I cry. She is gutteral, visceral, raw, vulnerable, and at the same time completely pitch perfect, absolutely inspired, life- (in all its facets) affirming, soulful. She's effing magic.

I watched her perform this song live at the Grammys and Brit awards in 2012 , just after she returned from throat surgery . I would have to say she was even better live
Check out Adele performing her song "Someone like you" at the 2011 Brit Awards. That's when I discovered her. No flashy pyro-effects, no over-hyped stage show - just her, a pianist and that amazing voice. I swear I had tears running down my face.
A great piece of trivia: Amy Winehouse, Adele and Leona Lewis all attended the same London performing arts High School (not at the same time). But they all had the same voice teacher there. He really taught them how to sing very well and control their big voices.
@@sherlockhemlock5655 I wish I could remember his name. They were all incredibly gifted singers even by that young age. If you noticed they all sing slightly behind the beat, which give them all that slight blue/jazz cadence. He taught them that. And to enunciate their lyrics very well
Her first albums were titled after her age when they were released: “19”, “21” and “25”. “Rolling in the Deep” was the biggest song of her career (so far)-and she’s one of the few singers to win “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year” at the Grammys-TWICE. She won for “Rolling in the Deep” and “21”, and then won again for “Hello” and “25”. She also has an Oscar for “Skyfall”, the theme song for the James Bond thriller, “Skyfall”. She wrote “Skyfall”. Now if someone like Bob mortimer or Sean lock had his amount of luck, I could totally support that. Corden though. He's not even half way up the British comedy ladder.
This kind of video is one of the reasons I love watching song reactions. Seeing someone discover how great an artist is - it's just so infections and fun! Adele is a great artist. Also it's so weird to hear her talk in a British accent since she sing in an American Southern accent. It's like with Amy Whinehouse and Billie Holiday - you just know Adele listened to and loved a lot of singers with southern accents, so that became part of her voice, too.
Adele is such a natural talent, she is completely effortless! I know it would be a departure from what you normally react to, but her episode of carpool karaoke with James Cordon was amazing - it was just after Hello came out and definitely shows how well she can sing live, as well as how awesome of a person she is too!

She has 3 albums: "19", "21" and "25." They are named with numbers because that was her age when the album was produced and released. She wrote pretty much all the songs herself. They have all done well commercially and critically. "21" won six Grammys. This song alone won 3 Grammys. Wow!
