    We played so much Mega Drive at home, that the controllers kept wearing down. My mother went to Fame Music in Amsterdam, asking for an alternative to the pads and the employee recommended her the 6 button power stick. She bought it and it still works almost 30 years later.

      So would pushing the limits of the Sega CD instead of demanding that we all run out and buy yet another $160 addon. Ironically the Sega CD version of so many of those games ended up being the best. And the scaling and 3D graphics were sometimes better on the CD.
      Hell imagine a world where sega had put those same tens of millions advertising the Nomad.

    The PowerBase Mini FM converter from Stone Age Gamer was a really cool add on for the Megadrive, letting you play Sega Master System games (same as the Master System Converter) and also listening to the FM sound audio for the games who supported.

    Scandalous no mention of the Everdrive :). For me I'd say its a must have in modern age what with the price of games being what they are. Even better if you get the Pro model you can play CD games and 32x games if you own a 32x.
    I'd also say the newest wireless controllers from 8bitdo & Retro-bit are a great investment. I have the 8bitdo M30 controller and in my opinion its one of the best modern retro styled controllers that I've ever used.
    Not that I have one, but you could even go so far as to include the Rad2x HDMI adaptor. Not everyone has a CRT or a scaler like the OSSC. So the Retrotink based Rad2x is a good option for folks want to hook up there MD to a modern display.
    I get where you were going with the official accessories, but there are lots of modern accessories that bring new life to the MD :).

    A very great peripheral is the Per4mer Steering wheel. It is the perfect way to play driving games. I never knew about it on its days, but I found about it in a search a long time ago. I tried to find one on ebay for some few years until I found one around 3 months ago, but I did not win the bid. About a month ago another one end up in ebay and I could buy it finally.
    After using it, I can tell you that is a completely new and better experience to play driving games, specially Outrun, using the steering wheel with a big scren TV and sound bar. And unbelievable, driving games games do not look bad using 16:9 aspect ratio, I even think they look better, but just refering to driving games.

    It's all about the official Sega 6 button controller for me. That thing is still my 2nd best controller. I'll never forget the first time I saw the mass of power units and cables that came from a full Tower of Power, it made me laugh because the plugs were so large you had to use an extension cable that had wider spacing between sockets, else they wouldn't fit next to each other. The chunky buggers!

    I have an extremely rare micro switch version of the European Arcade power stick, its a but of an oddity. I got it from a car boot sale at my primary school in Lincolnshire back in 1999 and the internals are the same as the Japanese version I own, so I know its not modded. It has a smaller knob like the Japanese version. I can only think its a very early version of the stick from the first wave they released in the UK or something. I've never come across another one like it.

    The dust covers are incredible--we've picked up a few for consoles that don't get the most play--and I love that they form fit, LOOK like the console, and has cut-outs for the cords.
    I adore the idea of the Power Base Converter too--how cool is that! Pieces like those are the best.
    The 3 in 1 power cable--are there any overheating issues there? That's been my fear in adopting it and I've heard claims, but I don't think anything has been proved.
    Sega CD was a buddy of mine's first CD player.
    Totally agree on the fun of physical collecting for opening boxes, looking over devices, getting a tactile experience in feedback of what you have in your hands.

    I have a question about your super 6 button controller.
    If you play Doom32x can you map the strafe to the shoulder buttons? That would be C + left or right. If it can I'll get one right now 🤣

    • @RetroGamerBoy
      @RetroGamerBoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can only assign a face buttons to the shoulder buttons, so A and c could be assigned. Assigning directions as well would be awesome.

    I have a few retro consoles. But I can't find box protectors for my Japanese Sega Saturn or my PSP. The place I used to get them from no longer ships to the UK, was wondering, does anyone else here know of a place that does console box protectors?

    • @RetroGamerBoy
      @RetroGamerBoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I end up check eBay for them. I used to get them from Germany but the company I used won't ship to the UK, it's too much fuss now and they are to small for it to be worthwhile to them.

    Ohhh, i don't know how to say this but, i kinda stopped paying for my Netflix subscription because it was preventing me playing video games at night, every time i wanted to do so a new tv show would've just popped out and i told to myself i just see 1 episode but i ended up seeing more until it was past midnight so i decided to stop the subscription so i can play some old school n new video games at night

    • @RetroGamerBoy

      It's insane. I think they were hoping that first adopters would be the Saturn and then everyone else would go for the 32X.

    The rest of the peripherals i didn't even hear back in my age of 16 bit era, there were all absent in this dump, except the arcade stick i saw few in here

    Great list. As much as i love the modem though it is essentially useless. I think maybe a better item for the list would have been the sega cd memory cartridge, which is a must if you play any RPG's for the Sega CD as the internal memory just wasn't enough to save those massive files. Also i totally need to get a dust cover.
