OMG, I just came back from a Jackson Browne/J.Taylor concert, & stumbled on this video. Those 2 were amazing as ever. Nice to hear some talented people without that modern synthesized voices. They did 2 duets of the Pretender, + Take it Easy

Rick Nelson's version from his early 1980s Memphis sessions is by far the best. No dreck in it. Sings it as a ballad with exquisite tenderness as if whispering to his beloved - a very subtle dramatic reading.

+ Newyorktown. Would't that have been great. Jackson always did his best to cover with respect. I think he did a great job.

beautiful cover of a wonderful song. Jackson Browne has always been an amazing singer-songwriter of his own music- but his covers of Buddy Holly, The Beatles, and others are equally wonderful and well worth checking out on itunes

+ 4Fab. Yes indeed. Yes indeed.I have said this recently (2019) on another YT site. How great his many covers are. When Jackson sings as backup in a cover for a female artist such as Joan Arden or Valerie Carter , he compliments them perfectly. He has also done covers for Bob Dylan , Warren Zevon , John Lennon , Lowell George and maybe six others that I cannot remember right now.

I love to see other artists pay tribute to Buddy Holly by covering his songs. They all add their own particular style. True Love Ways, co-written by Buddy, is just a beautiful song. Of course I love Buddy's version best, but not to put down others' versions. I have lived in Lubbock all my life and am a big Buddy Holly fan. Anything or anyone who promotes him and his music is okay by me.

I’m from the UK & even after all those years, Buddy still has a very big following. What a legend he is, way ahead of his time. Not a day goes by that I don’t listen to his songs. A visit to Lubbock is on my bucket list!

This song really doesnt need covers in my opinion. Original song is just perfection to me.

Jackson (Bomin) , it’s your Topanga girl…, 🙋🏻‍♀️oh my gosh!, you nailed it on this song. Lovey me the oldies, and I know you’re more likely to do your own originals. Very pretty, YOU!
Try, “🎶…, 🎸 It’s alright, have a good time…; you got soul, and everybody knows, that it’s alright, oh it’s alright .”🎵
Me? It’s California HOT 🥵 today…, ima just hangin at home, making 🍞 bread, and trying to age gracefully. 🙆🏻‍♀️🍭♥️on you

+ Egbert S. Yes indeed. Jackson is singing in his natural baritone voice enhanced by age and experience. You have to love Jackson for his appreciation of other artists. How well do we know.

+ RollioRudus. Just listened to the version by Rick Nelson, and I have to say that Rick's version pales in comparison to this version by Jackson Browne. The tempo was better and Jackson's voice was a rich baritone and the musician's sound was rich and full, and it had a sort of rich earthy quality to it, compared to Rick's. Since so many people mentioned Rick Nelson, I thought I would give it a try.
