Both the guitar lines and vocals are just distinctly Billy Joe. When you see him live or in a studio recording it's not clear how much Billy Joe is really doing versus the backing guitarist or over-dubs. Nope, he really does sound like that. Dope.
A three-piece is a really amazing band configuration. It really lets the "voice" of each of the three pieces come through because things are so simple and uncluttered.

You know how parents will yell at their kids to turn down their music late at night? I feel like it would be the opposite way with Billy's family. Like, either he's telling his kids to turn the music up, or his kids are telling him to turn the music down.

In all seriousness, do you really think it’s a wig? How do you think so? Because onstage when he’s sweating and running around and running his hands through his hair there doesn’t seem to be any sign that it’s artificial. Unless he has a REALLY GOOD hair transplant guy. Unless since this was during COVID peak times and his hair doctor was unable to get to him and he slapped on a wig for this performance.

The first time I saw Billie Joe in person it was 1994 and he was on stage at Lakewood Amphitheater buck naked, wearing only a strapped-on guitar. Now that was rock n roll!
In Atlanta? I was there. He ran throughout the crowd with only shoes on. Someone tackled him. I had his shoe but somehow in the melee it was lost. Dude was crazy. It was great.
