YES!!! Wyatt a knight of house Astor itself and him I’m guessing being the commanding officer of the Noirnavio!! He’ll be one helluva CO on that black ship and use it to the fullest of its abilities! I cannot wait to see what becomes of Wyatt and what shenanigans they get into!
Not yet for the Noirnavio, he needs to be a rank or two higher I think, but certainly on his way, maybe tactical officer ? Plus he needs to learn to command, he's halfway there with people obeying him without thinking about it
He will need to learn about his new status, then some courses on command, perhaps eventually become an executive officer.
I could see him being the number 2 of the ship being groomed for the captaincy. I believe Commander Redford will most likely have command.
I think officially he will have some lesser role. Because he is still ordered under Redford he’ll still be a pilot, but he may be “promoted” from leading a wedge to leading a few wedges.
But when he isn’t in a fighter proving why he is Woodshafts Ace he may occasionally command the Noirnavio in battle. I doubt that he’ll have much, if any, command on the Noirnavio outside of battle.
No Wyatt will be given orders to scout for enemies in the black ship as caption the Princess will be his comander
It is so rare a modern writer can invoke with in the reader so many emotions. I was grinning the entire time when the prince told Wyatt to kneel and my grin only grew to the point I laughed out loud at the end. This is truly a marvelous story one that deserves to be turned into a novel and more so at the very least an animated series. Abit one that due to the horrid Drazzen could only be for adults.

Just to clear one thing up, if you don't know a Knight Banneret is a very rare honour, traditionally it meant raising a commoner (usually a man at arms, to the rank of hereditary knight, traditionally only done by a head of a royal household for outstanding bravery on the battlefield (or possibly saving a royal life) and the act must be witnessed by a Royal or someone acting as say an army commander representing them. A Knight banneret is also unique in that they do not wear their lords heraldry but instead have their own which they can pass on. It's basically one of the rarest ways of how a new noble house can get founded. They rank above a knight but below a Baron normally, but things get a bit weird if you are attached to the royal household... For one thing picking a fight with Wyatt is effectively insulting the crown... How Wyatt who has grown up in a society where the common man or woman know they are worthless is going to cope should prove interesting, Likewise it will be interesting to see what effect he will have on the very senior nobility around him

I suspect that some will be nice to suck up to the royalty, while others will continue to look down on him, and yet others will be unaffected. Basically they’ll either play politics, have a bruised ego, or not care. I think very few will more highly of him.

Okay thanks a ton for explaining the difference between a banneret and a standard knight (I had no idea there was a difference) now, you seem pretty knowledgeable on the royal hierarchy, where does that land as far as nobility goes? Like i know he's below a barron, but is he of a high enough rank that he will be expected to marry another Noble? Or remain chaste? I'm kinda confused how he falls on more of the social spectrum, I'm pretty solid on the military side of it
@@ThrobinHood34 Good question, I can only give a traditional answer, it might not be correct for this futuristic realm, Nominally a night is entitled to marry anyone that will have them,, commoner or noble, traditionally a poor night might marry a wealthy noble or for that matter a wealth commoner, knights often used to pay for all their own equipment which was why they entered jousts because the winners could get the losers kit or fought in wars as mercenaries getting very rich.
Social Spectrum wise it's going to be interesting, as a newly created knight raised from common stock and serving house Winfield he would have done OK, but as a Knight Banneret raised from a commoner by the Prince of the realm and serving the Royal House of Astor directly potentially he's jumped into the big leagues, other smaller noble houses will be throwing their eligible young noble ladies in his direction hoping that a little of the Glory of house Astor rubs off on them, the bigger ones will probably ignore them, they will be after the Prince or other more senior nobles. Think of him like a football player (European or US makes no difference) he's a good player earning a good wage, but if he's in a top club he will get far more attention than if he were playing for a minor team

Honestly by the end of the series I think the person that Wyatt will end up marrying is 70% Cynthia, 25% Clara, 4.9% other person and 0.1% Wyatt in a romantic relationship with both Clara and Cynthia.

I am not surprised that this chapter continues immediately after the previous chapter. I do love how Clara shuts up George Lintar up in defense of Wyatt. I do love how Clara explained the plan to expose the traitors. It was smart how Clara publicly pardons Wyatt of all charges.
It was hilarious how Clara came down from the balcony in style 🤣! Poor Wyatt for a moment thought he was going to be killed but he was about to be knighted. I do like the knighting ceremony is unique to the Astorian Principality and Wyatt saying the only reason he would disobey an order is to protect the innocent.
Interesting that Prince knew that Wyatt was going to probably feign and hit Wyatt in the head to cover this weakness of Wyatt's self depiction tendencies.
It was a smart idea of them having Wyatt restrained until he calms down and accepts his knighthood. It seems like davidorf3921 thoughts that Wyatt would getting a knight barrenet title came true. I do like how Cynthia beats it into Wyatt's hear that he is worthy of the title and she is proud of him.
I do like how Cynthia teasing Wyatt being a noble. 😂 I do like how Wyatt tells Cynthia to kill him if he becomes a pretentious noble. It was totally true to Wyatt's nature about the monetary boons in being a knight barrenet, so he can send more money to his family and send messages to them. I do like the boon that won Wyatt over was: of being a knight of house Astor is he can ignore orders from nobles who aren't Astor or those like Windfields.
It's funny how Wyatt is still flustered by Clara is when she is deadly serious, because he got to know her mainly when she is easy going. Its funny how Clara teasing Wyatt as Ser Knight , how Wyatt groans at it considering how much happened in that day and him know being a noble! That scene was awesome where Clara gives Wyatt a knitting kit, so he can do this great passion of his for the first time probably since he joined the navy. Its hilarious where Clara says she is happy to have a good knitting partner, Cynthia complains about it and Clara responds saying that Cynthia is terrible at it.😂 Poor Cynthia!
Its no surprise that Wyatt is now formally under Clara's authority similar to Cynthia, which in reality what Wyatt has been doing unofficially for a while. I am and not surprised that Galt Tirom and others traitors on the Noirnavio who helped against the Drazzan end up getting pardoned and end up working on the Noir. I do love how Wyatt in his head declare his undying loyalty for her declaration of her burning any Drazzan raiders she finds. I was half expecting that Wyatt would do anime thing of saying what he said in his head out loud having tears of joy coming from his eyes! I am not surprised that Clara ends up having Nior as her own personal ship, considering it was her forces that captured it under her orders and this way Wyatt can be the tactical out of the box adviser to fully use Noir's potential.
I do wonder if Wyatt's starfighter squadron will be attached to the Noir as part of its fighter contingent. It will be interesting seeing Wyatt and Uriel interacting with each other. I would not be surprised that if at Woodshaft, Wyatt ends up going to visit people at their who for a time were captured by the Drazzan to help them with their trauma, as a fellow survivor being prisoner/ future cattle for them.
@@woswasdenni1914your right now I think more about it. It's been a while but I remember in "Kingdom of Heaven " with Orlando Bloom where 2 times someone gets knighted and gets hit in the head as a reminder of their oath.
I'm going to pretty much agree with all of the above, with one addition, I think some of the new crew for the Noirnavio will come from Woodshaft, the Princess was looking for men, I suspect they will get a number of volunteers who will want to serve the people who saved the residents of Woodshaft
The meaning behind being struck when being knighted is that is the _VERY LAST TIME_ the subject is struck without violent retribution. They are warriors after all.
Another outstanding chapter. Wyatt has again shown that he is not in this for himself. He did not want to be Knighted or become a Nobel, it is not part of his moral fabric . When faced with a crisis of this magnitude he has now fainted on two occasions . When Cynthia gives him a brief synopsis of the “benefits” of his new found privileges and wealth, he does not think of himself. Again his Character shines through in that he wants to use these benefits to help his family back home. His immediate thought is how he can send funds back home to improve the situation of his family. I look forward to his exploits on the Black Ship 😎

Love the narrative. The hero is a powder keg. He does have a love hate complexity with the nobles.
Not really he gets on fine with the good nobles, Prince, Clara, Cynthia, Redford, House Winfield and maybe Lukax and the Admiral, it's the ones who believe that if a man is not born a noble then they can't be of any use, and the ones who are so far up their own backsides that they abuse their rank on the commoners that he has an issue with, fortunately this is unlikely to present to many problems given that he's now assigned to the Princess, by extension anyone who insults Wyatt is insulting the Royal who has chosen to have Wyatt on their staff, if that happens to be Clara then Cynthia is likely to take that as a grievous insult .....
About time! Was wondering when Wyatt would be Knighted. He had shown time and again his Loyalty and frustratingly bullheaded Bravery. Plus he saved the Nobles lives more than once without thinking of his own safety.👏
Wyatt's return to Woodshaft is going to be something! He, after all, saved thousands of lives.
True but many will have also died to the Drazzan, I think Wyatt and Clara will get more crew for the Noirnavio from Woodshaft and I think they will get volunteers who will be looking to help the people that saved their families, we know that the Prince's fleet is short staffed and whilst the Noirnavio seems capable of running in the short term at least, with just a bridge crew that's certainly not going to be the case for long term, this is after all a vessel several times larger than a modern aircraft carrier

I felt that getting to be a knight of house astor absolutely was the right reward. But commanding officer most likely is going to be Commander Redford with Wyatt being his second in command. The guy is a new noble he cant get command of a ship without more experience. Im assuming the entire fighter wing of Wyatt's will be on the ship.
Absolutely amazing. I was grinning through the entire chapter, especially during the knighting ceremony. Completely deserved for Wyatt. I would love to see it as a tv series or movie saga. It would definitely stood its ground against such franchises as Star Wars or Lord of The Rings. I cannot get enough of it and in the light of what has Star Wars has recently become it is what we need.
To be awarded as a Knight Banquet was a delicious achievement. 😂

Not just a Knight but a Banneret, one step below an Earl.
This story is progressing quite nicely. Just like olden times, knighthoods were earned on the battlefield. It makes sense to reward loyalty and have an infusion of new talent into the nobility ranks to fill the vacated positions after executing or banishing the traitors.
I am enjoying this story, the way it is a weekly wait for each chapter. Keep up the good story telling, it is worth waiting for each new chapter.
Please don't stop like the last humans did. This is freaking awesome. This is awesome and would be an awesome movie.
This is 10000x better than the last humans.... Last humans is less narrative and more written in god mode with sweeping statements about tactics and such. I couldn't get into it nearly as much as this great story

Hoping that Wyatt's endless humbleness starts to erode and some confidence starts showing through. He is a very bright and talented man and should while being humble not be self deprecating. He has earned his promotion and is likely second to none when it comes to commanding a spaceship. hopefully his new implants will let him run the blackship.
I think his humbleness is a function of being a commoner, he has been raised from a very young age to obey nobles without question, he's basically just been told that has all changed, but I think the ladies will teach him how to be a good noble (and I don't see him remaining ONLY a knight) whilst others show him how to be a good commander

There is only one thing I do not like about this series . The chapters do not come out fast enough . I wish there were three chapters a day . Truly entertaining . I hope the author has at least another 100 chapters in their head .

I disagree about the self-deprication. It is far too easy to listen when praise is heaped upon you and believe that you are 'something special'. I see it more as he simply believes that his attitude of caring for others and putting them first is the minimum baseline that everyone should follow (and I agree with it)
@@daveturnbull7221 I used to put myself down, believing that i had no value myself, and that everyone else had more value than me. Besides that, i put everyone first and always myself last.. If someone would praise me for doing something good, i would deflect that and downplay it, just like how Wyatt does.. Speaking from first hand experience of 15+ years of a severe depression, what Wyatt did, does happen in rl..!
This is just great. I could say so much more but where to even begin? The development of the story, characters & world is pretty great. I expect to see this book become even better than it has began.

Finally Wyatt got what he didn't want but deserved. And unlike everyone else I see Wyatt ending up with Cynthia and not Claira.
I'm still not sure about the whole romance thing, I do suspect he's going to end up with one of them, but right now it could be either, to me Cynthia seems the more likely, both Wyatt and Cynthia in their own way are effectively broken people, who will kill others when required without issue, and I could see Cynthia at some point finding herself unable to cope with all the death and Wyatt helping her through that with both of them falling for the good they see in each other. Or I could see the whole fairytale commoner marries the Princess option, traditionally in real life Princesses tend to get married off for political alliances, but Clara seems very independent, I could actually see the Prince getting killed and Clara becoming head of state, at that point maybe with a change in attitude to the commoners marriage to someone who was born a commoner but rose through their deeds and actions to a noble might actually make sense. But at not 3 weeks into the story (in story time) I think it's too early to call, they could just al end up as trusted friends

Being able to do violence in the protection of others does make us _broken people._ These situations are exclusively the creation of the perpetrators. They made all the decisions that created the situation and forced its outcome. Far more often than not, at the very last minute, they are given an opportunity to walk away. Many times they do not.
What are we to do? Let innocent people become maimed or murdered to protect the perpetrators?
I say no.
I made that decision as a child. I am pretty stoutly built. I can take a beating, and have, bad ones too. I can live with that. What I've never been able to live with is knowing that I let somebody get hurt when I could have done something to stop it. The body heals faster than the mind.
@@nautifella I am not going to disagree with you about it not making a person broken, but for different reasons I happen to believe she is as broken as Wyatt, it's just we haven't seen that yet. Neither of them are broken beyond repair though I think she is a well written character, unlike many redit stories the author actually writes stories that make you care about the characters even the unimportant ones

Yes, remember Wyatt said when he was watching him walk in that he was someone who thought highly of himself. Lukax and Damian are both spit and polish nobles, just a thought. Also, didn't Duke Draymore ask Hadrian Tigan if Damian was with the Prince?

I am very curious as to what implant House Windsor is gifting Wyatt. First of all implants are mind-boggling expensive and if house Astor is not footting the bill it must be something elective.
The Astor one will be rare, the others will I suspect be the ones that will allow him to have full control of the Noirnavio when it's time for him to do so

@@ThomasTomiczek Of course it's not house Astor or Windsor it's Cynthia's house the attack dogs of House Actor, House Winfield, maybe some sort of attack or defense mechanism, built in armour or even genetic modification all would seem plausible, also if Wyatt is effectively going to be with the Princess much of the time it would make sense to equip him to act as an additional bodyguard to be able to help Cynthia or perhaps allow him to survive being in close proximity to Cynthia when she gets the sword out

You do seem to be well tuned to the direction the author is going. Nicely called, sir. I suspect something particular, and so I'm wondering about your take regarding Wyatt eventually meeting up with Gimor (sp?). When that happens, I believe Wyatt will kill him. Not in the manner in which he always imagined, but rather after having challenged him to a dual. Maybe one of scenes near the end of the story. That would be a satisfying part of Wyatt's arc, in my opinion.
@@jimpervious_0x2a honestly I'm still not sure on this one, I think a lot will depend on the circumstances of their meeting and whatever role and rank Wyatt has at the time, because I do not see Wyatt remaining only a knight, Wyatt is basically a good man and no matter what happens I don't see that changing, so either Wyatt would call him out and then kill him in the shortest duel ever, or he would work out a way of making the wretched man live out the rest of his life serving the community in some humiliating way e.g sewer cleaner or dog catcher
@@davidorf3921 The author is so talented that no matter what the decision is on how to write this part of the story, I'm certain it'll be satisfying to read / hear.
That said, I think it's quite personal for Wyatt regarding Gimor and a dual seems to me to be a nice way for that to play out and remain consistent with the story and characters. Again though, I'm certain I'll enjoy whatever way the author wants to write it.
This would be an amazing live action or anime I would watch the hell out of this show

Honestly last chapters was really getting tired off all noble aristocratic bullshit and how close minded they are. The way they live in their close circle. Not that we don t have that shit with rich and powerful people now. But not that open to anger the mob. Glad he got knighted. He really represents what a knight is. What we thought must be when was a kid. Really selfless man trying to serve and protect :)

Some may want to look up Knight Banneret - unless the author has made a mistake here, this is not a totally low rank in nobility as it indicates "was a medieval knight who led a company of troops during time of war under his own banner (which was square-shaped, in contrast to the tapering standard or the pennon flown by the lower-ranking knights) and was eligible to bear supporters in English heraldry. The military rank of a knight banneret was higher than a knight Bachelor (who fought under another's banner), but lower than an earl or duke.". Definitely appropriate for someone who commands a wing or more of loyal troops that follow him under his own banner.
Wonder if we’ll get a small scene at some point where Wyatt again encounters those dipshits that made him bark like a dog. Wouldn’t expect him to make them do the same, but would be interesting seeing their reaction to his new standing
Because Wyatt is a good man I don't think he will go for petty revenge, but I could certainly see a situation where those idiots are made to feel very uncomfortable for a while
I want to be there when he shows up at his parents house as a knight in armor and takes helmet off

While, yes, the phrase is the same, it is nothing but a happy coincidence! (I love 40K and if I had to take a quote straight from 40K, you best believe I'd take it from Eisenhorn, Ciaphas Cain, or Trazyn!)

A touch of English medieval history. Not quite at the bottom of royalty but just below a Duke or Earl.
A fitting place for Wyatt, he can still lead a “company” or wedge as well as fight.
Quite a long way below duke or earl, If we look at the British line of nobility which is simpler than some more complicated than others, We go with Hereditary Knight at the bottom (Wyatt currently falls into this general category but slightly senior in ranking to everyone who is not a Banneret), then we get Baronet yes that is a very similar word to Banneret isn't it, either the highest of the minor nobles or the lowest of the "Nobles Major" i.e they get a grant of land with their title, then Baron, Viscount, Count or Earl (in Britain), Marquess and lastly Duke then it's royalty time. The names of the ranks change depending on country, thus Count in most of Europe but Earl in Britain, but the structure stays pretty much the same worldwide
@@davidorf3921 where does Bachelor Knight fall? My Medieval History classes were always back. Nothing like that could be simple or even easy to explain.
@@Odd_Interaction Bachelor Knight is the bottom rung, they inherit the title but typically serve another lord and rarely take to the Battlefield under their own colours, typically you would expect to see a bunch of nights line up in the same colours representing a single lord, they may have individual shields if they have earned the right to have them and the banneret is essentially a field commander for a force of knights, it allows someone like a frince to control several sets of knights by just instructing the banneret who then gives out the orders to his group of knights. You can get non hereditary knights, they have similar rights but don't get to pass on the sir or lady title to their kids. Bachelor knights are typically 2nd, 3rd etc sons of a lord who simply inherit the knight status but none of their fathers other titles.
