I worry that Petunia would lay on Journey. That she may not be able to move quick enough before Petunia flops down. Also not sure how much companionship a pig that sleeps all day could provide a young goat.

Excuse me, this imagination may "way too far out".
      1) Get a Tuff Shed & build an enclosed run/yard with shade. Set it along side at a safe distance from infections of the Littles fence/pasture.
      2) Get a puppy/companion for Journey to imprint. Like a Border Collie, Australian Shepherd or Queensland Heeler. Living side by side 24/7.
      3) That working/herding breed of dog would also serve several purposes on the farm for you, in herding the Littles & more (And fending off predators maybe.) (A barnyard dog just like your barnyard cats)
I don't know? This idea might be just too far out? 🤔

Lester, here are my thoughts; Journey is a special needs animal, she’s a little slower and I see her more like a porch goat and she relates very well with you folks. I’m afraid that Petunia might hurt her without meaning to being blind. Why not build Journeys space in the yard!?! I see her sharing the yard with some gentle dogs and cats and with all the humans visit. Pig Newton should soon compete with Trudie. Leave her in the yard to listen to those birds, listen to any activities she might try like nibble on those green leaves and eventually figure out her best peaceful life. I love how she’s thrive since getting to IMA and I love her to the moon and back ❤️🐏🥰😉💕❤️❤️❤️❤️

Lester, nice video explaining the future. However, Journey needs to have a companion animal that is higher functioning than Petunia. One that she can learn from and be active with. As a parent of a special needs child, you try high and adjust. You need to stimulate her little brain and muscles. She’ll stagnate with Petunia. Also, what if they cuddle and petunia rolls and Journey can’t get out of the way. Perhaps pick the runt of your litter and put them together. Maybe Journey will momma it. How about a baby pigmy goat? I don’t know animals that much more about the needs of specials needs and belonging and keeping them stimulated to their ability. Bet you get a ton of slow down, animal crossing signs, picture of Journey on them.

This video was probably filmed a few days ago so something may have already been built, but yes I agree it would be best to find out if Petunia even wants to be bothered by a clingy goat. She may not tolerate it. And that would also block her from going out in the yard on the few occasions where she wants some exercise. Maybe there is another way to provide a companion for Journey.

All rabbits are frigle, even the giant breeds. Should Journey step, head butt, or fall on one, the rabbit could be hurt or killed. Also, Journey is getting her horns in and those alone could kill a rabbit. Rabbits are considered to be prey animals, thus, they might not like being with a goat that is big and has "jerky" movements. It would also take a lot of work to fix any area up so that a rabbit does not dig or chew their way out of the designated area. I'd hate to see the new barn that Lester and Fidel built get chewed and scratched up.

Rabbits would be great companions. Some considerations. Rabbits are sensitive to heat and would need a special diet. I had a Flemish Giant female. Large, energetic, playful. They will bond with other species but benefit from a rabbit companion. Female rabbits should be fixed as they are highly prone to uterine cancer. They will also try to dig their way out from any enclosure.

    • @lindafranke8143
      @lindafranke8143 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Female rabbits (unless raised together) will fight more than males. Domestic rabbits and wild rabbits will not cross breed (different amount of chrozones (sp)). Also there is a virus that is going thru domestic & wild rabbits (check out arba.net)

The size of Petunia would scare me, personally, thinking of when my daughter with paralysis would play with larger kids- they definitely didnt understand she could not react the same way. There’s just so much that us non-farmers don’t know about. Journey has stolen my heart, sorry Pebbles. Pebbles stole my heart when she lost BamBam. The video of her laying there under the vehicle, I’m a depression type state did it for me.

I LOVE how much time, effort, research, companionship and love you are giving to Journey.
I wish there were more people like the Morrow Family in this world. If I may add in my own 2 cents of advice. I think it may be a good idea to think what may happen if Pig Newton did a Tiny Tim and decided he wanted to be out in the Littles Pasture. Also Journey had only really been around 2 baby goats in the nursery for a short time. So she may think she is more of a piglet than a goat kid.
I think it may be a good option for Journey to be housed with some Pygmy or Nigerian goats (preferably Polled for Journey's safety) as they are smaller. Plus they can teach her how to eat and socialise as a pair. If you have any Does/Nanny's having kids anytime soon it may be a nice idea for you to put Journey back into the nursery and see if she has a connection with any of the kids. It would be preferable to have a doe as Journey's companion just because you defiantly don't want any 'accidents' or any Ringo head knocks.
I love that she is able to be out in the side yard, its close to your house, yet she can be outside more often now too.
Regarding predators that you have to deal with... Just like myself who lives in Australia, with the exception for venomous snakes, the predators in Texas are usually all nocturnal. So it may be a good idea to have her housed at night somewhere safe. Because unfortunately she can't escape as quickly as the other littles/goats.
Im wondering if there is any vitamin boosts that the vet can give her to help with her low immune system? I know that Vitamin B oral gel helps goats appetite, digestion and energy levels. So that may be a helpful preventative vitamin just to help Journey now that she is weaning off the milk and onto a plant based diet.
With my rescue and therapy animals I have a monthly calendar/diary that I have on my wall which has the name or type of animal under the date which specific vaccinations, supplements, treatments or vet visits are due (example: my dogs Heartworm treatment is the 1st of every month. OR, Every Friday my chickens and their nests with the lice treatment). It has helped me hugely in the preventative health of my animals. Especially since I suffer from Fibromyalgia and other illnesses that cause brain fogs, memory loss, chronic pain/fatigue, and sometimes I have to go into hospital, so I know that I need not worry about the health of my animals as there is already a care guide for my family who care for my animals when I'm away.
I really hope this helps you out. I have been watching these videos for years and I love waking up and watching Lester on this channel or Jamie on From Suits 2 Boots or LE on Flipflop Farmer. The Bigs, Littles and the Morrow family brings me so much joy.
You are all amazing and such a kind, loving and funny bunch.
    Sending all my love
    Janelle (Warrandyte, Australia)

You should think about Journey's spirit. It would be soooo sad, if Journey spent the rest of her life with a pig that does not interact with others. Journey is better off being close to you all, up on the porch with dogs and cats. At night she can sleep in a cage with one of the dogs? I cant express enough, that placing her with a loner pig, would be sooo lonely and sad.

Good evening Lester I really enjoyed the video. Journey and 🐷 Newton are really enjoying the side yard and they both look good. I completely understand that they have to be separated, I've been waiting for you guys to figure out when the time was right to make the transition. Journey will adjust after a while but I'm sure it will be tough for several weeks. Hopefully as the new babies are born it will ease her some. I'm not sure about putting her in with Petunia only because since Petunia can't see or hear she might accidentally lay or roll on Journey. Also the chickens and some other animals come to see Petunia and they can carry nasty bug's and germs to her. Maybe I am being a worry wart for nothing. You and Jami will know what is best for her as always and I will enjoy every video of her new home. Much love to you all from Arkansas.

Aww I didn't know Petunia was blind and deaf. Bless her little heart. I think she's a pretty girl! 💘 Journey is a lot more curious and active than Petunia though. I know she has special needs but I think it would bore her so much if it was just her and Petunia for the most part. It would probably stress Petunia out if Journey was with her all the time too. I know you are much more knowledgeable about farm animals than me and I could be wrong but as a mom my intuition tells me that they are so different that it doesn't sit well I'm afraid. Ok I been keepn quiet but nows the time to speak up and be an advocate for Journeys well being. This second class citizen stuff were ur housing her with Putuna will end up with her being used as a pillow or she will eat her for a snack. Move Journey inside. LEs room is perfect. He will be fine if he loves her. She also needs a full time therapist. She also needs another newborn pig to replace Newton and a replacement every other month when they get to big. The littles are going to have to move to some other pasture because Journey needs that one. Its also time for a Full time vet for anything that may arise. You and Jaime should consider working part time so that you can spend more time with her. She looks to be a little depressed so I would look unto what meds she will need. You should hire an architect now to build her a new House/Barn with ramps and exersize eguiptment and entertainment room/spa asap. I hear amazing things about acupuncture please look into it. She will need some time off also. Like vacations. The swiss alps or a cruise. Mabe Italy. You get the idea. Nothing is to much for her. Im just kidding. Lol

I do not want to be a negative here AT ALL‼️
HOWEVER - facts must be faced - Petunia is a bad idea because Journey could very well be accidently injured by Petunia- Petunia will fight for her food and her space, and Journey needs someone (animal or people) to look out for her. Also, Journey is not progressing like a baby goat should be progressing😪 which is a huge warning flag to me. The vet has already said that Journey has a lot of things wrong with her and no way of knowing what her little brain is capable of her learning going forward . She has made great strides! We also need to stop and think about our So. Texas summer which is about 6-7 weeks away from starting. I personally do not believe that she can handle the heat AT ALL! Thinking of Journey as we would a "handicapped" child, whom you have really no idea what their motor skills are until you get there, she may not know to drink water, to get into the shade, to eat the green stuff, the grains, etc. She may not "mentally" progress any further than where she is right now.😪✝️🙏💗

Hi Lester, what about putting the word out that you're wanting another sweet small/dwarf female goat for Journey - possibly even a handicapped one - it could also help Journey learn more goat foraging behavior? I agree with many others that it would be so awful if Petunia accidentally hurt Journey and it could very easily happen! Journey would naturally want to be close to Petunia and Journey could very easily startle her and then Petunia could bite or roll onto Journey, possibly causing wounds and/or an infection. I'm sure there's plenty of farms that would love to have one of their runt or dwarf female goats come live at your amazing sanctuary with Journey and all of you! Just a suggestion...
