LMAO@the psycho Gingerbread Man!!😂 I love that you used music from Insidious (one of my favorite franchises), and loved the intense build up of the door knocking LOL! The Babadook has door banging, makes my hair stand on end. As for Unmatched: Tales To Amaze it reminds me of Horrified with it's nostalgic art and monsters. It's too bad about the same-y gameplay, but it still looks like a fun time. Also, I'm glad you showed your Jurassic Park dinosaur--I wish there were more quality dinosaur games on the market!
Lol! I forgot about Babadook! It’s been years since I’ve watched it. I love it when horror movies use doors as a way to build tension. The anxiety of wondering what lies behind the door or fear of the unknown is usually better than the actual reveal. When it comes to Insidious, the soundtrack in those movies have some of the best tension-building themes in the horror business. Tales to Amaze is actually really good. It just suffers in the replayability department. The T-Rex mini is one of the coolest minis I own! Very high quality! There is a legacy-style Jurassic Park game out there but it didn’t catch my attention, surprisingly. Dinosaur World was a fun board game as well as its smaller version called Roar ‘N Write.
Wow what a great video, and what an AMAZING treat at the end! That ginger bread man is so insidious! 😂 loved it, Knight , 100% You got me super interested in the game too, those miniatures look SO GOOD! Shame there aren't more villains though, but still, it looks so much fun. A bonus - very important - feature for me is the simplicity of the rules that you mentioned. Gonna see if I can get my hands on this one, there must be expansions coming soon, surely! Thank you, Knight! ❤
These miniatures are awesome! The entire package of this game is awesome component-wise! It is a fun game and I think you’ll like it. My kids and I really used to make homemade scary movies. Maybe I’ll upload the trilogy this coming October. Not sure yet but I’ll think about it. The origins of Gingerbread Man have to be known! Those were the days. Good times.
There is good news for the future of Unmatchetd Adventures I got into contact with Restoration Games about it and newer versions are in the works!! I only did this because I was thinking about getting this version and was not going to if there were not going to be more releases to it.
That’s really good to know! Just another 2 villains will make this game shine! If this game keeps receiving support, especially with all of the potential villains that can be used, it will be around for a long, long time. Thanks for the heads-up!
I agree that we need more villains and with that some variety on how to beat them like any good boss battler should have but considering how well the Kickstarter did, I can imagine some expansions coming our way. its a solid 9/10 for me. Legacy of Yu was my personal solo game of the year but I can see Tales coming to the table much more often. I think I might've been the one to recommend Tales to you so I hope you continue to play and enjoy the system. (I'm just going to take credit anyways). Happy Holidays my brother and I hope to see more of your content in 2024 that is if you survived the Gingerbread Man.
You did recommend Tales to Amaze to me! Legacy of Yu is also fresh in my mind, as well! Now you know that I do consider what you guys recommend. 😜 Other than the lack of villains, everything else is top notch! Thanks for the games you recommended. Thankfully, I survived the Gingerbread’s attack! I showed my kids that short video (now they’re 16 and 18) and they loved it. We used to make homemade scary movies like that when they were younger and they have good memories from it. I really did find the Gingerbread Man in a box 10 years later and I just had to make another movie (even though it was REALLY short). Anyway, see you in 2024! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
You sneaky little, but steady growing, creator, dropping an other review just before Christmas and then even up the production again. Going full blown artist here, nice! Gonna go and wash me pants now..... On an other note, I really don't understand your appreciation for the insert. I mean, come on, you can just go the official Cryptozoic route they took with the Batman insert. Just produce a video and show how to cut away half of the sleeve incompatible insert to make space. 😵💫😜 I have Tales to Amaze on my list but it is simply unavailable over here. Will have to fetch a copy once I am back in the US for the holidays. Merry Christmas for you and the family.
Thanks! I used to love making those scary homemade movies. We made 3 anthology-style movies. I miss those days. One of my favorite stories we made was when I was trying to get me kids to eat veggies. I ended up making a short called, “Eat Your Veggies Before They Eat You!” Some of the best moments in my life. I forgot about that Batman insert! Terrible!! I haven’t played that game since. It was a huge letdown for me. Take your time with Tales to Amaze. Maybe by then, there will be more villains added making this a must own! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, as well!
As you noted adding the other "heroes" really improved the play. That is even more pronounced in the standard 1 vs 1 game. All the different characters and different maps make this a fantastic two player game. I'm sure the co-op play will keep getting better.
I agree with everything you wrote. With the addition of just a few more villains, it’s going to make a huge difference and my complaints will then be no more. This is a great start and the future looks bright.
Don't insult Tesla by calling him Elon. The biggest downfall for me is not the lack of variety, but the very swingy solo game. Playing multiplayer or two or more heroes alone negates this problem though.
The lack of variety is really its biggest downfall. I agree. Playing as multiple heroes is the way to go. Especially if you fight some of the minions with their ability to add more activations via the initiative deck. Things can get out of hand quickly. Also, playing with more than one heroes allows you to cover more of the board. Thankfully, playing with more than one hero solo is easy!
I actually appreciate your review. For some reasons all reviews were so positive for this game that I couldn’t even understand why. I think people hype about this game mostly because they love unmatched to start off with, and now this expansion gives them a whole new way to play their contents so they are extremely happy. But what I always wonder is. Is this really a coop game that worths a while? Honestly coop game genre is so crowded that I feel unsure whether this one stands out for someone who has never played unmatched to get into
Even though I had never played Unmatched before this, I found the game easy to learn. I had seen a few glowing reviews so I was very intrigued to play it for myself. In my opinion, although Tales to Amaze is fun, I had more fun with Dice Throne Adventures which is an expansion that converted a mainly 1v1 experience into coop, as well. There was much more variety in that game. I really believe that a few more expansions for Tales to Amaze will fix the lack of variety but, as is, it just needs more villains. After my 5th or 6th play, I really felt the repetitiveness sinking in. As a matter of fact, earlier this year, I had similar feeling with Marvel Zombies but then wave 2 arrived and REALLY elevated the experience and increased the variety 10-fold! I believe fans of Unmatched are really going to love this game and it will give them a new way to play, as you mentioned, which is probably the reason for the praise it has received.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight thanks so much for your detailed response! Really appreciate it. Despite the hype I think I will still sit out from this a little while...I think unmatched overall seems a great game for 2 players. but generally I just barely have much luck tabling two players games. Its either 2 players playing against my very young children which unmatched is too much for them. or its 4 players game when friends come by...so...
You got me! 🤣 So far, you’re the only person that noticed. I did that on purpose. You, Mage, have exceptional attention to detail. Stay safe and I hope you enjoy your Christmas and New Year with your friends and family!
