@chair_dib hell yeah! I appreciate you watching the video and I'm glad you think it's a good idea. I can't lie I feel like maybe crash games are the only games I could have good ideas for actually
Great video! It's refreshing hearing someone not go through mental gymnastics trying to explain why their opinion is justified because they're worried about a negative audience reaction and instead just tell you it's down to their own taste. Playing games as a young kid is different to playing them as you get older and that has a huge impact on our impressions of those games. I played Medievil and Spyro as a kid and prefer them over many Nintendo 3D platformer classics because I didn't play any of those games until I was older. I understand why a game like Super Mario 64 is a landmark game and why it is still respected today (it got many things right despite being one of the very first games of the genre) and can also see that many of the games I played when I was younger are flawed in ways that those Nintendo games aren't, but I will almost always prefer the games I grew up with.
@@jackxiaolong3606 Thanks for the reply. Do you have other videos like this planned? This is the first video of your that I've seen (thanks, Algorithm!) and it seems you typically create let's play content.
@me-kl9tg yeah pretty much all my other content are permadeath style series with my friends, but now I'm working on weekly stream highlights while also preparing another video in the same style as this for spyro!
@@jackxiaolong3606 Nice one. I was hoping you'd mention Spyro - it's clearly the obvious follow-up to this video haha and I'll definitely stay subscribed for that! Good luck with the channel.
Really good video. Some controversial rankings which I and others may not agree with, but I know how hard it was to rank all these levels, and I really appreciate the work that went into this, and your justifications for those rankings were completely fair and it's clear that you studied the levels really carefully. One thing I'm really surprised you didn't mention about Bears Repeating, which everyone knows: the controls for the Polar section are SO ANNOYING! True, Crash 4 is one of the hardest games to complete when it comes to breaking all the boxes, but the way Polar controls in that level really makes that aspect even more annoying. Also, you mentioned that you studied Music for a period (I did as well!). I would be really interested to see you do either a similar ranking for the soundtrack for those same games, or even a comparison of the PS1 and N-Sane Trilogy versions of the trilogy soundtrack: would you consider that?
@samcoleman605 I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah I feel like it's gonna be impossible to please everyone with a list like this but if I keep it true to how I enjoy them then I can't go wrong! Yeah the polar bear sections were super annoying thats what I meant by saying it was hell trying to perfect the level 😭 That's a really good idea with the music actually because of how different the tracks are, I'd really like to sit and compare all the tracks, probably wouldn't do a ranking but the music sets so much of the levels mood and is a huge deal when it comes to crash imo
The paradox to me is that my absolute number 1 is the Pirate leve with Tawna that has a completely different gameplay style "Why don't you just play... i dunno... Sly Cooper?" i should ask myself xD
@@jackxiaolong3606 I can say the same to you cause bro I love run it bayou so much mainly for the music but it still is so peak it's so good that I have a entire playlist of mashups with run it bayou
Crash 1 Best: "Slippery climb". Long difficult stage with a unique environment (untill "stormy ascent" in the remake). Getting the gem as a kid was incredibly satisfying. Worst: "Cortex Power". The backtracking was too much. Crash 2 Best: "Un-bearable". The most memorable chase level, incorporating animal riding. Challenging hidden area. Worst:Tie for the two jetpack stages. Annoying vehicle to use. Music is amazing though. Crash 3 Best: "Tomb wader" hated it as a kid, really grew on me. Timing can be surprisingly tense to survive the rising water. Worst: "bye bye blimps" Just really boring. The other one at least has enough enemies to pose a bit of a challenge. Its About time Best: "Draggin on". I remember with Crash 2 thinking the blue gem challenge (not breaking crates) was interesting, but wasted on such a simple level. Well wish granted. Worst: "Rush hour". Way too long. Genuinely enjoy the other characters, and taken on there own they're fun and challenging. Should've been two separate levels. Been too long since I played WoC, so not fair to rate it, do remember enjoying the atlasphere levels though.
@@jackxiaolong3606 Commented near the lower parts. Having finished, yeah. Only point I strongly disagreed were the jetpack levels, even then we both noted the amazing music. It really says something about how strong Crash 2 is when its low point for me was mildly annoying. Your thoughts on Toxic waste, the bridge levels, and Toad village practically mirrored mine.
1:21:15 yes this track is one that people always like but people don't give enough love to the other tracks like run it bayou and booty Calle for example are bangers

What a great video!!! Now I will note, the music volume is a bit too loud, especially at the start, which then causes issues when raising the volume to hear you due to sudden audio peaks in your audio and loud sound effects here and there, but asides from that, it's a great edit that I'm sure was a NIGHTMARE to put all together. I subbed right away, excited to see what else you put out! ❤

I'll always prefer the other two motorbike levels to Road Crash. I always find the timing so tight to finish in 1st on a normal run and the cars ALWAYS seem to veer in my way on purpose. I always dread Road Crash when i replay Crash 3.

I remembering dying about 90 times the first run through, and getting that 3 max gem was the most gratifying experience. I don’t know if I’d rank everything the same, but I’ve still agreed with everything you have to say about the levels so far.
Okay watching the entry about Hang ‘Em High, I’m certain Run It Bayou is number one. The yellow gem looming in the background when you enter the level, the platforming to get there. SO GOOD!!

No! There's actually 163 levels in total(excluding all levels from Crash 4 that is)! Unless you count all 84 race tracks in the series, in which case that's about 247 levels in total!
im sorry i do way prefer the originals but it was just easier to do these on the remakes, and i also included how enjoyable these levels are to time trial which wasnt in the original 2

I just finished watching this whole thing, you say you wouldn’t know much about level design but idk, the idea you had of a harder path with nitros in the jet pack levels sounds like game dev thinking to me and would be perfectly in line with the series.
@chair_dib hell yeah! I appreciate you watching the video and I'm glad you think it's a good idea. I can't lie I feel like maybe crash games are the only games I could have good ideas for actually
@@jackxiaolong3606lol
@me-kl9tg I 100% agree with you and I appreciate you having a similar mindset! Glad you enjoyed the vid!
@me-kl9tg thank you so much I appreciate it!!
And this time I'll do all the spinoffs
Yeah the polar bear sections were super annoying thats what I meant by saying it was hell trying to perfect the level 😭
That's a really good idea with the music actually because of how different the tracks are, I'd really like to sit and compare all the tracks, probably wouldn't do a ranking but the music sets so much of the levels mood and is a huge deal when it comes to crash imo
You do realize that the controls for polar in bears repeating was fixed in a update
@@mitchelldingodilehomie4230 "Controls for Polar were fixed" 🤣That's hilarious

Alright Guys Lets Make a List of everyones number 1 favourite Level
Mine is actually Crash 4 Nitro Processing
This guy
Crash 1
Best: "Slippery climb". Long difficult stage with a unique environment (untill "stormy ascent" in the remake). Getting the gem as a kid was incredibly satisfying.
Worst: "Cortex Power". The backtracking was too much.
Crash 2
Best: "Un-bearable". The most memorable chase level, incorporating animal riding. Challenging hidden area.
Worst:Tie for the two jetpack stages. Annoying vehicle to use. Music is amazing though.
Crash 3
Best: "Tomb wader" hated it as a kid, really grew on me. Timing can be surprisingly tense to survive the rising water.
Worst: "bye bye blimps" Just really boring. The other one at least has enough enemies to pose a bit of a challenge.
Its About time
Best: "Draggin on".
@@brandonhelcher3691 damn we have pretty similar opinions actually!
@brandonhelcher3691 great to hear honestly, and I'm glad you're enjoying the video! Honestly toxic waste gets too much waste for what it is

@superwildejellyfish thanks I appreciate it!!!
Yeah my bad about the music it went kinda wacky after I rendered but I'll definitely fix it for the next video
what do you think of the original games vs n-sane trilogy
@megabusterm17 I prefer the originals but I still adore the re-imagining of the n sane trilogy
Lets see, Bye Bye Blimps, Pura levels and oh yeah the ski levels rocked.
Hmmmm i wonder why those levels in particular, is N. gin by any chance your favorite boss from 3?
@@jackxiaolong3606 Not sure why those levels in particular, shock Hot Coco got as low as it did when it should of been in the top 3. N.Gin was a great boss fight.

I notice the Crash 4 extra levels with other characters are missing, but that was a bit shit anyway since they just repeated half of the regular levels
Yeah i debated putting them on but since the bulk of the levels are in other levels i figured i wouldnt bother to stop me repeating myself

10. Dino might
9. Stormy Ascent
8. Tomb Wader
7. Unbearable
6. Turtle Woods
5. The Eel Deal
4 Future Tense
3. Heavy Machinery
2. Gone Tomorrow
1. Cold Hard Crash
@greywolfesdinner8990 hell yeah that's a great list actually
I'll always prefer the other two motorbike levels to Road Crash. I always find the timing so tight to finish in 1st on a normal run and the cars ALWAYS seem to veer in my way on purpose. I always dread Road Crash when i replay Crash 3.
@solidgent7870 that's fair and understandable honestly, I think they're all decent for what they are tbh but I just prefer the shortness and precision

Now do one with the best level music and or boss music. Or both in one video. Idk but it would be cool
surprisingly you are not the first person to request that so i think i might do a top 20 crash tracks or something after i rank the spyro levels
Don't let this amazing video distract you from the fact that Jack is the first ever scottish man to speedrun I-Ninja ❤
@delk1299 omg so true king!
I’m feeling more and more that Run It Bayou is going to be number one, I’m a huge fan of the jetboard levels and I think the swamp environment is just really cool as well.
SO GOOD!!

@@jackxiaolong3606 It's really surprising how much there is still to learn about games that we have played for years! Great video btw! Really entertaining and well put together; you would deserve so much more views. I'm now at number 50 something and based on your earlier comments I suspect that your number one level could be Air Crash because of the environment, dynamics and secrets or maybe something like Jetboard Jetty.
And I think the jetpack levels will be high but not at top 10 because they are in space.
No! There's actually 163 levels in total(excluding all levels from Crash 4 that is)! Unless you count all 84 race tracks in the series, in which case that's about 247 levels in total!

Geniunly shocked by the end cuz Run It Bayou is 100% my LEAST favourite level from Crash 4 and that's mostly for its easthetics.
